Season of the Force: NEW Star Wars Disneyland Celebration Coming 2024

Season of the Force is a Star Wars themed celebration coming soon to Disneyland that will feature offerings like special entertainment, an overlay for a favorite attraction, themed foods and merchandise, and more!

Season of the Force previously made the rounds at the Disney Parks including Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2015 to celebrate Star Wars: A Force Awakens. The event introduced some iconic Star Wars traditions to the theme parks we still enjoy now like Hyperspace Mountain. As a dedicated Star Wars fan who has attended all the Disney Star Wars events, along with the major Star Wars Celebration fan convention, I am thrilled about the return of Star Wars Seasons of Force at Disneyland.

Keep reading for the Star Wars Season of the Force dates at Disneyland along with all the announced entertainment plus details on how Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will connect with this event for the first time. Plus, the Star Wars stuff that we really hope returns.

Star Wars Season of the Force Disneyland Dates

Star Tours new scenes

Season of the Force is returning to Disneyland for the first time since 2015! Season of Force takes place from April 5th, 2024 through June 2nd, 2024.

This means that Season of the Force will overlap with the popular May the 4th celebration and Disneyland After Dark special event Disneyland Star Wars Nite events.

If Season of the Force is successful, this may be the new look for future May the 4th celebrations at Disneyland to help ground this yearly tradition and provide a bit more fanfare.

If you plan your trip dates right, you can be at Disneyland for Season of the Force AND the Pixar Fest celebration which will bring a brand new parade, Pixar-themed fireworks, and character meet and greets. Read our guide to Pixar Fest for those also newly announced dates.

Season of the Force Disneyland Event Details

star wars events

Disneyland has announced some additional details about what visitors can look forward to during Season of the Force at Disneyland, including entertainment, merchandise, and more! Season of the Force at Disneyland features some returning favorites along with brand new Star Wars additions for the celebration.

Sabrine Wren Character ExperienceSabine Wren

Sabine Wren is making appearances in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland during Season of the Force.

Sabine Wren is a popular character that originally made her debut in the animated hit series Star Wars Rebels. Sabine Wren was brought to live action for the first time in the Disney+ series Ahsoka along with her favorite characters like Ahsoka herself, Ezra Bridger, and Anakin Skywalker.

Hyperspace Mountain Returns

Hyperspace Mountain

Hyperspace Mountain will return to Disneyland for Season of the Force for a limited time through June 2. This Star Wars overlay appears yearly around May 4th so this is not unexpected but it is still a welcome addition to the event. Hyperspace Mountain transforms Space Mountain into a Star Wars theme with a Star Wars score (created just for the overlay) replacing the Space Mountain music and projections of Star Wars ships visible throughout the ride.

The story of this overlay puts guests in the cockpit of an X-wing fighter in the middle of a fight with the Empire. The squadron that takes part in this battle is named the Blue 77 Squadron as a reference to Luke's original X-wing concept (which was changed from blue to red) and 77 as a reference for the year (1977) Star Wars was released and Space Mountain opened at Disneyland.

This is a popular overlay so planning on using Disneyland Genie+ for this ride to skip the longer lines is a must.

New Star Tours ScenesSeason of Force Star Tours

Brand new scenes for Star Tours – The Adventures Continue will debut during the event. These new scenes were previously announced in September and will feature new additions inspired by “Ahsoka,” “Andor” and “The Mandalorian.” With these new additions, guests will now be able to experience one of more than 250 storyline variations for the Star Tours attraction, including a visit to the planet Seatos from the Ahsoka series. Guests may receive urgent transmissions from characters like Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor, or Din Djarin and Grogu during their adventure.

We are particularly excited about the addition of Ahsoka, who began as an animated character in the television series The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels before being brought to the live-action shows. Ahsoka is arguably one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars canon.

Ahsoka Galaxy's Edge

Back in 2011, the original Disneyland Star Wars attraction was revamped, allowing guests to visit multiple worlds in over 50 possible story combinations made possible through a random selection of multiple scenarios.

Since then we have seen many Star Tours scenes added to celebrate the more recent Star Wars films that began with A Force Awakens plus the anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. This is a great way to keep refreshing this attraction and create hype for a classic ride that's been a staple of Disneyland since 1987.

Fireworks at Galaxy's Edge
Disneyland Season of Force

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge will also feature a “fresh perspective” on the Disneyland fireworks which are visible from the land near the Millennium Falcon. This new fireworks addition will include “galactic music” to accompany the fireworks show.

This new nighttime experience with musical accompaniment will be called “Fire of the Rising Moons.” During the gathering, “villagers and visitors will come together to celebrate their freedom and to honor the heroes and legends of the galaxy who came before them.” We hope that they really execute here so that this becomes a highlight of the Star Wars fest. “Fire of the Rising Moons” will feature selections from John Williams’ Star Wars film scores, and guests can experience the show from multiple areas in Galaxy’s Edge, including the Black Spire Spaceport, the TIE Echelon docking platform, and the speeder garage. MagicBand+ will also interact with the show with colorful lights and vibrations.

Excitingly, “Fire of the Rising Moons” will continue to be an offering beyond Season of the Force at Galaxy's Edge for each fireworks show from Disneyland.

DIsneyland FIreworks

This is the first time we've seen Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge intentionally pay any sort of homage to the fireworks. Due to the immersive storyline of the land, Disney does not often break character so this is a welcome first to see them go as far as to incorporate music.

season of the force fireworks

I hope this is a sign we might see Disneyland start to loosen the reigns on this land which is something I've always felt is a long overdue step, especially during the Disneyland holiday season.

Season of the Force Seek and Find

Seek and Find card

During Season of the Force, there is limited-time Seek and Find activity offered for visitors with no fee required to participate where you can find coded cylinders to uncover a code word and receive a special keepsake.

The story behind this is that as the Rebel Alliance set up a makeshift way-stop on Batuu during the reign of the Galactic Empire, to avoid detection, they made a code system with letters inscribed on old supply cylinders hidden around the area. Together, the letters formed a word given to a trusted contact.

Seek and Find map

If you’d like to participate in this activity, you’ll pick up a map at The Star Trader in Tomorrowland, then go to Galaxy’s Edge and look for the 6 coded cylinders hidden throughout the land. Using the map, you’ll take note of the symbols inscribed on each cylinder.

Seek and Find code cylinders

Then, you’ll head back to Tomorrowland, find the decoder signs, and use the symbols to decipher the letters, ultimately decrypting the code word. Go back to The Star Trader once you have this and you’ll get a special keepsake! Maps are valid for redemption through June 6, 2024 or while supplies last.

BDX Droids at Galaxy's Edge

BD-X droids test run Disneyland

Two cute BDX droids will be visiting Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Park during the duration of the Season of the Force celebration from April 5-June 2. These droids previously appeared for a “test run” last year and are now ready to interact with guests in the land. The BDX droids have learned how to handle different environments via “reinforcement learning” and are so much fun to watch in action! You can see them at various locations around Black Spire Outpost throughout the day.

You can see more details in our announcement of these droids coming to Disneyland for Season of the Force.

Season of the Force Past Events

Season of Force

Old promo picture for the original Season of the Force in 2015

Season of the Force was an event to celebrate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It was held at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios in 2015 and later came to Disneyland Paris in 2017. The event has not been held since then until now.

The original Disneyland Season of the Force brought Hyperspace Mountain to Disneyland, Star Wars Launch Bay, the Path of the Jedi experience in the Tomorrowland Theater, and the Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. Star Wars: Launch Bay at Disneyland remains closed and Jedi Training Trials of the Temple was discontinued towards the end of 2018.

I would love to see Jedi Training Trials of the Temple return as this was such a cool event for kids to participate in and for everyone to watch! Kids could sign up to be trained as Jedis and would face off against Darth Vader or Kylo Ren. My son participated twice when he was young and still remembers how intimidating facing off against Darth Vader was! Since there was no announcement of this part of the event returning, this is just wishing on my end.

disneyland star wars season of the force event

We cannot wait for 2024 at Disneyland especially since some of these new events will overlap! I loved the special character meet and greets at Star Wars Nite which included some of the most popular character lines I've ever seen at a Disneyland event. People lined up and waited hours just for the chance to meet Ewoks! I hope Disney pays attention to what a draw these characters are and introduce them during Season of the Force.
