Disneyland Closing Hotel Theme Park Entrance
Just a few months ago, Disneyland announced that the private hotel theme park entrance to Disney California Adventure across from the Pixar Place Hotel would be temporarily closing for construction to install the new entry gates at the resort. These gates, which are now utilized resort-wide, are ADA-compliant and utilize facial recognition technology to scan guests into the park. This private entrance reopened with the new changes in mid-June.

Now, after this effort to install the new entry gate, we have received the surprising news that the Pixar Place Hotel entrance will be closing for the foreseeable future, starting January 5, 2026. Disneyland shared that its reason for closing the Pixar Place Hotel gate is that it was underutilized by Pixar Place Hotel guests. Disneyland confirmed to us that there are no plans to reopen this gate. The news comes as 2026 ticket and hotel packages go on sale today.
I never saw this entry gate being used in the middle of the day when we were walking through here. Earlier this year, they had already started to scale it back to only allowing entry until noon. We are assuming that it likely reached the point where they were having trouble justifying the staffing at that entrance with such little traffic going through there.
Guests who are staying at Pixar Place Hotel will be able to use Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa gate into Disney California Adventure, which is located between Napa Rose restaurant and Tenaya Stone Spa. This is more of a walk for Pixar Place Hotel guests, as you have to cut through the hotel to access this entrance, as opposed to just going across the street. It's not too bad, though and is still accessible from one of the gates in front of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel.
The closure also takes away a convenient entrance and exit for guests staying in hotel rooms in the wings of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel that are closest to this entrance. It was a perfect way to pop out after World of Color.

The loss of this perk reduces some of the appeal of staying at the Pixar Place Hotel. This hotel rarely qualifies for Disneyland Resort Hotel discounts throughout the year.
We were initially wondering if the new Coco ride coming to Disney California Adventure could have anything to do with this closure. The gate itself isn't near the new attraction location, but the walkway to the gate from the hotel does is close to the edge of the area where the new attraction will be located. We are anticipating some big changes to this spot.
There was a far more major change to Disneyland Resort Hotel perks that was announced today. Until both of these changes go into effect in early 2026, guests will still be able to take advantage of these perks during their stay.
