Disneyland Park Reservations Quietly PAUSED for 2023, PREDICTION: Ticket Price Increase Coming

Disney recently announced an opening date for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway along with more details about the Disney100 Celebration taking place at Disneyland in 2023. Along with this news, Disney has paused theme park reservation availability for dates in 2023.

Based on the timing of the park reservation pause, comments from Disney, and exciting announcements for 2023 at Disneyland, we are predicting that a Disneyland ticket price increase is coming.

Read on for details on why we are predicting the price increase and how you can lock in current ticket prices on multi-day tickets (if you are looking for the lowest prices on Disneyland tickets, all Mickey Visit readers get additional discounts from our travel partner here).

Disney 100th Celebration

Disneyland is hosting the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney company with the Disney100 Celebration taking place during 2023 at Disneyland. The official date of the celebration will kick off on January 27th 2023. The two new nighttime spectaculars, “Wondrous Journeys” and “World of Color – One”, will also be debuting on this same day.

January is shaping up to be an exciting month at Disneyland which is unusual in itself since Disney often debuts new events and attractions in the late spring/early summer months.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Opening Date

Amongst the most exciting news we’ve received from Disney is that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open on January 27th 2023 as part of the Disney100 Celebration.

The full renovation of  Toontown will be completed and fully reopen at a later date in Spring 2023. But this is exciting news for park guests visiting at the beginning of 2023 as they will get to experience this awesome attraction, which we have rave reviews for at Walt Disney World, at Disneyland.

Disneyland Park Reservations PAUSED

Along with these exciting announcements, Disney has commented on the pause on theme park pass reservations for ALL DATES past January 8th 2023. Reservation availability past these dates would resume soon, according to Disney, but no specific date or information on why reservation availability being paused has been announced yet.

If you take a look at Disneyland’s Park Pass calendar, you can confirm that you can only book park pass reservations through January 8th for park tickets. However, the Magic Key pass calendar only shows reservation availability through January 4th.

Typically Disneyland Park Pass reservations are available 120 days in advance for guests that book a single day or multi-day ticket. The reservations calendar has not moved past the January 8th date. We were surprised to see Disney comment on the pause of the Park Pass availability.

Disneyland Ticket Price Increase Coming Soon?

Another interesting thing to note on Disneyland’s website – you cannot purchase tickets for travel beyond January 8th.

It is curious that Disneyland has decided to not just pause reservation availability but ticket sales after January 8th. They may be pausing reservation availability until they have increased ticket prices.

Just over one year ago, on October 25, 2021, Disneyland raised ticket prices. Disney typically raises ticket prices every year so it is a safe assumption that there is a ticket price increase coming soon. We are predicting a Disneyland ticket increase in the coming weeks before they reactivate park pass availability. We do not have any inside information on this and are just reading the situation based on previous Disney trends.

Right now, after just announcing more details on the Disney100 Celebration that’s bringing new nighttime spectaculars and the opening of a new E-Ticket attraction, is the perfect time for them to announce the increase. Following the below tip to prevent any impact from a price increase is an easy way to save on your trip.

There is one way that you can still buy tickets for travel through all of 2023. When you book through a Disney ticket reseller you can buy your 2023 trip tickets and lock in their current discounted prices.

I highly recommend you purchase your park tickets NOW so you are prepared for any potential prices increases that could happen! Our travel partner, Get Away Today, is currently selling 2023 vacation packages and park tickets. So, if you have a trip planned for anytime before the end of 2023, NOW is the time to book. You do not have to know your dates (they ask for them at checkout, but these are just for them to send you reminder emails). BOOK NOW >

These tickets are valid until January 2024 which makes now a great time to purchase discounted Disneyland tickets before we see a large price increase. I am already planning my 2023 trip to Disneyland and putting my down payment on my layaway plan ASAP just in case we see a ticket price increase.

Once park reservations are activated again, you will just take the ticket code from the tickets you purchase from Get Away Today and then use that code to make park reservations on the Disneyland website. This extra hurdle is absolutely worth it to secure what in the past has been up to an $80 savings when you lock in the old Disneyland ticket discounted prices vs the new prices.
