One Big Thing in Disneyland News – Best Window to Visit for Low Halloween Crowds!
We visited on the first day of the Halloween celebration last Friday! It was definitely toasty at the parks with temperatures in the 90s, but it was so fun to enjoy the debut of this year's Halloween festivities. The crowds were pretty low, which we can partially attribute to the late August Disneyland weather. We are now entering a period we consider to be one of the best times of the year to visit Disneyland, with lower crowds and the Halloween celebration in full swing. There are a good handful of days in late August and early September that have Tier 0 1-day ticket prices and what we project to be below-normal crowd levels in our Mickey Visit Disneyland Crowd Calendar.

There are a couple of new changes in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday, which is now open for the seasonal celebrations at Disneyland through the remainder of the year! The Oogie Boogie figure at the end of the ride has been improved and now has more fluid motion of his head and arms. We are working to bring you the full story on this soon to understand the details what is likely an entirely new Audio-Animatronics figure. There is also a new gingerbread house in the Haunted Mansion ballroom scene that pays homage to the raven that normally appears in the traditional version of the ride.
Here's a look at the Oogie Boogie figure before and after!

There are also tons of special Halloween foods now available across the resort! Some highlights include new items like the Fresh-baked Pumpkin Cookies from Harbour Galley and Celestial Churro (otherwise known as the Dubai Chocolate Churro) at Terran Treats, and returning favorites like the Bulgogi Beef Toasted Sandwich at Jolly Holiday and Pumpkin Spiced-flavored Mickey-shaped Beignet at Mint Julep Bar. You can see all of the Halloween foods and a free PDF printable of where to find them in our Disneyland Halloween food guide.
People have caught on about the viral pumpkin cookies from Harbour Galley and are mobile ordering them. The mobile order pick up line on Sunday was all the way down to Haunted Mansion! However, the standby ordering line was dead! It’s still best to mobile order, but if you see the standby ordering line is empty, then purchase them in that line and then cancel your mobile order. You will not get charged if you cancel your mobile order as long as you haven't pressed “I'm Here” yet.
Stay tuned for our Disneyland Halloween foods review and specific tips for visiting based on our first day at the Halloween celebration, which are both coming soon! Make sure to sign up for our Mickey Visit newsletter so you don't miss the latest Disney planning guidance and news.

What We're Thinking About This Week
- Emily enjoyed visiting during the first day of the Halloween celebration! She likes the new Haunted Mansion Holiday gingerbread house and has the “fa la la la las” from the man-eating plants stuck in her head on a loop.
- Gavin is excited to be headed to Destination D23 in Florida this week to bring the latest news from that event to Mickey Visit readers. We are hopeful to get some Disneyland information even though the majority of the event will likely be focused on Florida.
- Lindsay is disappointed to see Early Entry being removed for Disneyland Resort hotel guests. She would much prefer to see perks like that being expanded (like the return of Early Entry for regular theme park ticket holders) rather than seeing it removed.

Disneyland Crowd Calendar This Week
This week, we anticipate mostly below-normal crowds with slightly higher crowds heading into the weekend due to Labor Day. Most kids are now back in school, and we are into the quieter stretch of time in early September. This is a great week to visit with lower crowds and enjoy the Halloween festivities.
You can see our rating of all upcoming dates in our Mickey Visit Disneyland Crowd Calendar.
