Disney World Bus Stops

Disney bus transportation

Disney bus transportation is in place to take you to and from the theme parks, Disney Springs, and the water parks from your Disney Resort hotel. Each Disney Resort will have at least one loading and unloading bus area for Guests. Some of the bigger, more spread-out resorts, have multiple bus stops within the resort property. These resorts include Animal Kingdom Lodge, Caribbean Beach Resort, Coronado Springs, Old Key West, Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and Saratoga Springs.

I just stayed at Port Orleans Resort – Riverside on my most recent trip to Walt Disney World and it was my first time experiencing a resort with multiple bus stops within itself. When your resort is more spread out, your room may be a decent hike from the main hall. We conveniently had a bus stop very close to our room so we didn't need to take the additional steps back to the main bus stop.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a resort with multiple bus stops, but my experience was nice. While it feels a little daunting to stop and load (or unload) Guests multiple times before you start to make your way to your desired destination, the bus loads were never bad. Unlike other resorts with only one stop, we never experienced overcrowding at the bus stops or on the buses themselves.

Disney World Bus Guide: Shared Buses

Disney bus transportation

While other resorts only have one bus stop, it isn't uncommon for some to share buses. Especially during slower seasons or even slower times of the day. Disney wants to be as efficient as possible and will avoid sending out empty buses as often as possible. Here is a breakdown of what resorts often share buses.

  • All-Star Resorts – All-Star Movies, All-Star Music, and All-Star Sports are all located right next to each other. If crowd levels are low, these three value resorts may share buses.
  • The Campsites at Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge – These two locations share a bus for all destinations EXCEPT Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom is generally the busiest park and the buses fill up quickly. It's more beneficial for these resort locations to each use their own bus for transportation to Magic Kingdom.
  • Beach Club Resort, BoardWalk Inn, and Yacht Club Resort – These resorts share buses often. On the occasion that you're traveling to Animal Kingdom, there's a possibility that you'll also stop at Swan and Dolphin Hotel to pick up Guests.
  • Port Orleans Resort – Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter and Port Orleans Resort – Riverside share buses often. During my past stay to Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, there were a handful of times that we did stop and drop off French Quarter Guests first. My trip was recently, with peak holiday crowds, so I would imagine that this happens more often during less busy times.
  • Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Village Resort, Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – All three of these resorts are on the monorail route. That means they can all access Epcot and Magic Kingdom via the monorail. However, to get to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, a bus needs to be taken. These resorts are in close proximity and share buses for these parks.

Disney World Bus Guide: Where to Find Your Disney Bus

Disney bus transportation

To put it simply… signs. Disney has no lack of signage when it comes to their buses. When you're at your resort, there will be signs directing you to the bus stop locations. At the theme parks and Disney Springs, there will be signs directing you toward the general bus loading areas. Once you're closer, there will be a more detailed sign that lists all of the Disney Resorts and lets you know which specific bus stop number you need to head to.

If you have trouble finding the bus loading area, or you're not sure which bus stop number to head to, don't worry! You can use the My Disney Experience app to locate the buses and even get directions. There's also always a Cast Member nearby who's ready to help. Just let them know which destination you're headed to and they'll point you in the right direction.

Disney World Bus Guide Schedules

Disney buses are not on a set time schedule throughout the day. From the time the buses start running to the time they make their final stop of the night, they are on a continuous loop between the destinations and resorts. The average amount of time you may wait for a Disney bus is about 20 minutes. However, this may vary depending on the location you're headed to as well as the crowd levels.

Even though the buses don't arrive to certain stops at specific times throughout the day, they do have times when their services begin and end for the day. These hours vary for the theme parks, Disney Springs, and the water parks. Make sure that you check the operating hours of these locations each day to help you make your transportation plans.

  • Theme Parks – Bus transportation between Disney Resort hotels and Disney Theme Parks begins 45 minutes prior to the park's opening time and ends one hour after the park's closing time.
  • Disney Springs – For transportation to Disney Springs from your Disney Resort hotel, bus services begin when Disney Springs opens and ends one hour after it closes.
  • Disney Water Parks – Transportation to the water parks begins 30 minutes prior to the water parks opening and ends one hour after they close. (Please note that Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is currently closed. However, Blizzard Beach is open for your enjoyment.)

Disney Bus Wait Times

Bus stops at various Walt Disney World Resorts have digital screens (like the one pictured above) with busing information. On these signs, each destination will be listed with their operating hours. You will also see the current time as well as the estimated time that the next bus will arrive. These estimated times will be updated as needed. For example, if a bus is running a little bit later than the sign says, it will update with a more accurate time.

These signs will also give travel tips for certain destinations when need be. On the sign pictured, it informs you that you need to get on the Animal Kingdom bus and then transfer to another bus in order to get to Blizzard Beach. You may even see a suggestion for an alternate type of transportation to get you to your destination. I recently visited Old Key West Resort and the Disney Springs portion of their sign suggested using their water transportation as an alternative option to riding the bus.

Disney Bus Routes

Disney bus transportation

While most Disney bus routes are pretty simple and straightforward, sometimes a route includes a transfer. Or a route may not exist at all. Let's take a look at the routes to and from different destinations.

  • Resort to Theme Parks –  All Walt Disney Resort hotels have direct routes to and from the theme parks
  • Resort to Disney Springs – Similarly, there are also direct routes from all of the resorts to Disney Springs.
  • Resort to Water Parks – The resorts do NOT all have direct bus transportation to the water parks. Bus transportation to Disney Water Parks takes place from the All-Star Resorts and Coronado Springs Resort. If you are staying at a different resort, that's ok! There is also water park transportation from Animal Kingdom Park. If you're not staying at a resort with direct busing to the water parks, simply get on a bus going to Animal Kingdom. Once you arrive, transfer over to a water park bus.
  • Theme Park to Theme Park – You cannot take a direct bus route from one theme park to another. However, you can get on a bus and go to any resort. Once you arrive, you can then get on a bus going to your next desired theme park location.
  • Theme Park to Disney Springs – Similarly, there's no direct bus route from the theme parks to Disney Springs. This is another instance where you would need to take a bus to a resort. After you arrive, you would then need to transfer over to a Disney Springs bus.
  • Theme Park to Water Parks – The only theme park that has a direct bus route to the Disney Water Parks is Animal Kingdom.
  • Disney Springs to Resorts – The only direct bus routes that are available from Disney Springs are to the Disney Resort hotels.

Disney Bus Tips

Disney transportation

The bus transportation system at Walt Disney World is an extremely convenient and cost-effective option compared to driving and parking your own vehicle. How can you best maximize the experience on this complimentary transportation system? Here are some helpful tips!

  • Make time for your commute. Remember to check the operating hours of the parks and Disney Springs in order to know what time the buses are running. Then give yourself plenty of time to get to your desired destination. If it's a busier time of the year, or if you're at a resort with only one bus stop, consider getting to the bus stop early to avoid having to stand on a full bus or having to wait for another bus to arrive.
  • When you need to do a bus transfer, talk to a nearby Cast Member to see which buses you should get on for the most convenient and time-efficient route.
  • If you are traveling with a stroller, make sure to have it folded up and ready to go before your bus arrives. It can be very stressful trying to get the stroller folded and all of your items in place when the bus arrives and everyone is anxious to load.
  • Courtesy Tip – We're all tired after a day at Disney World. Even so, if someone on your bus ends up standing due to the bus filling up, but would visibly be better off sitting down for the trip, consider giving them your seat. On almost every one of my trips on a full Disney bus, I've seen other Guests offer up their seat to a child, a mother holding a child, someone older, someone injured, etc.
