New Disney Store Locations Now Opening

Disney closed most of their physical Disney Stores years ago as part of a transition to an online shopping focus. They called the online website Shop Disney initially, but then switched back to the Disney Store branding.
After news of Disney bringing back the Disney Stores went viral this spring, Disney announced that they were launching a new concept called Disney Store Limited Time that would bring back Disney Store locations. The locations are supposed to only be temporary, but the setup and offerings feel substantial, like many of the original mall locations.

Disney Store Limited Time is a partnership between Disney and Go! Retail Group, the company behind Toys”R”Us, Babies”R”Us, and Calendars.com. The stores feature favorite Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters. During the announcement, Disney promised that fans can see “those signature Disney Store touches and experiences including opening ceremonies, immersive in-store designs, and products found only through Disney Store.”

Disney already opened the first location in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at Ross Park Mall in May 2026. Now, another location has just opened in Paramus, New Jersey, at Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall.
We have new details from Disney about the store that just opened there. The special touches did return. For instance, each morning, one guest is chosen to “unlock” the store with a larger-than-life ceremonial key. “Today we are not just opening a store, we’re opening a door to imagination,” exclaimed the Disney Store team on opening day.
There are also Disney “magic mirrors” that show characters dropping in from their worlds. You may see Chip ‘n’ Dale popping up to wave hello in the diner window, or the Mistress of All Evil, Maleficent, strolling menacingly past a door.

There are also store-specific pieces of merchandise. They have a tee and tote bag with New Jersey-themed artwork and symbols that include the state flower, a scene from the Jersey Shore, and a slice of pizza.

And here’s the bag.

“Disney Store Limited Time gives us the opportunity to bring the Disney Store experience into new communities, deepen our connections with fans, and learn from how they engage with the brand,” said Patrick Sager, VP Disney Store. “Retail is always evolving, and with the opening of this store in New Jersey we’re creating another flexible experience, meeting fans where they are.”
Disney has shared that this location will remain open at least through the 2026 season. We believe strongly that these two locations are a test of a bigger return of the Disney Store in partnership with the Go! Retail Group. However, they have been clear that these two stores are only open for a limited time and are not intended to be permanent.
