Disney Store Opening New Physical Locations Following Viral Claims

For Disney fans who grew up in the 1990s and 2000s, no visit to the local mall was complete without a visit to the Disney Store. In a move reminiscent of a bygone era, Disney is now opening new physical Disney Store locations. This follows viral rumors circulating recently that Disney’s new CEO would be bringing back Disney Stores.

We have the details on the locations and opening timeline of these new stores, plus the full list of all remaining Disney Store locations in the United States. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including a cute new “it’s a small world” merchandise collection and menu changes at EPCOT.

Most brick-and-mortar Disney Stores closed years ago as Disney transitioned to an online shopping business strategy. For a while, this was called shopDisney, but ultimately reverted to the Disney Store name.

Following viral rumors of a Disney Store revival, on April 15, 2026, Disney announced a new concept called Disney Store Limited Time. This venture will involve new Disney Store locations opening in person once again, but only temporarily.

Disney Store Limited Time will sell apparel, toys, collectibles, and home goods featuring favorite Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters. The concept is a partnership between Disney and Go! Retail Group, the company behind Toys”R”Us, Babies”R”Us, and Calendars.com.

Disney shares that fans visiting these stores can look forward to “those signature Disney Store touches and experiences including opening ceremonies, immersive in-store designs, and products found only through Disney Store.”

The first new Disney Store Limited Time physical location will open on May 23, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at Ross Park Mall.

Another brick-and-mortar Disney Store Limited Time will open in fall 2026 in Paramus, New Jersey, at Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall.

We list all 20 of the other remaining Disney Store physical locations in the United States later in this story.

Disney didn’t mention how long each Disney Store Limited Time location will be open, only that they aren’t intended to be permanent stores. The company also hasn’t announced if this concept is a test for a larger roll-out of more Disney Store Limited Time locations in the future, or if this is a one-and-done project.

Disney says special ceremonies will take place at each location’s grand opening. Disney Store grand openings of years past included live character appearances, but Disney hasn’t shared details on what to expect from the 2026 fanfare.

Fans of Disney Store mall locations who don’t live near either of the upcoming pop-ups might still find lots of Disney merchandise at their local mall. As Disney Stores phased out, I’ve noticed lots more Disney merchandise licensed to other mall staples like Hot Topic and Box Lunch.

During a recent visit to Box Lunch at my local mall, I spotted merchandise related to A Goofy Movie, Treasure Planet, and Brother Bear, as well as an entire wall of Loungefly mini-backpacks. I felt like I was in a store at Disney Springs or Downtown Disney, despite being hundreds of miles from either of those destinations.
