Walt Disney World transforms into a Central Florida winter wonderland during November and December each year. Among the resort’s huge list of offerings during the holiday season are 2 after-hours special events that are separately ticketed from daytime admission: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. These parties feature many exclusive shows and experiences, but some of the festivities are also offered during regular park hours and therefore don’t require a special ticket, other than park admission, to see.
Guests associate a handful of Disney World’s holiday offerings with after-hours special events, but they’re open to all guests. In this story, we’ll share those experiences that you might not realize are included with your daily admission park ticket. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including an upcoming Disney World restaurant closure and 3 changes to a popular Disney World lounge.

Jingle Cruise
The world-famous Jungle Cruise in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom becomes Jingle Cruise for the holiday season. This is a Florida exclusive that no longer happens at California’s Disneyland version of the ride.

In a single night, Disney’s teams deck out the Jungle Cruise’s queue, boats, and Audio-Animatronics animal scenes with holiday flair. This is a top-to-bottom transformation of the entire attraction. The skippers’ jokes are festive during this time of year, too.
While Jingle Cruise does operate during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, the nature of the overlay means that it’s not exclusive to party guests. It also runs during Magic Kingdom’s regular operating hours. This differs from Magic Kingdom’s holiday overlays of Space Mountain and Mad Tea Party, which are only during the party.
Jingle Cruise will return to Magic Kingdom on November 3, 2026. An exact closing date has not been specified, so we assume the overlay will continue through January 6, 2027, the official final day of Disney World’s holiday season.

Sunset Seasons Greetings
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios becomes a canvas for terror-free cheer during the holiday season as part of projection-mapping moments called Sunset Seasons Greetings. The name comes from its location on Sunset Boulevard.
Unlike most Disney World nighttime shows, Sunset Seasons Greetings doesn’t have set showtimes, nor is its programming one continuous presentation. Instead, every few minutes, the Hollywood Tower Hotel illuminates with 3-minute projection vignettes depicting cute holiday imagery featuring either the Muppets, Mickey & friends, Toy Story characters, or Frozen characters. Toward the end of every sequence, there are snow flurries!
It’s incredible how the rectangular shape of the building seems to transform right in front of your eyes. In the photo above, the Tower of Terror has become a gingerbread house, with Kermit and Miss Piggy cookies standing on the balcony!
Sunset Seasons Greetings does take place during Disney Jollywood Nights, but it also happens during regular Hollywood Studios park hours before Jollywood Nights begins, and even on non-party nights.
Disney has confirmed that Sunset Seasons Greetings will be performing at least by November 13, the official kickoff of Disney World’s holiday season, but if things follow previous years’ schedules, it will debut in time for the first Jollywood Nights event on November 7.
A Frozen Holiday Surprise
When night falls at Magic Kingdom, Elsa uses her icy powers to cover Cinderella Castle in projection-mapped snow during A Frozen Holiday Surprise.
This 9-minute show features live appearances by Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf, but the real star here is the castle and its wintry projections.
On nights when Magic Kingdom hosts Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, A Frozen Holiday Surprise is performed twice: once before the park closes for the party, and another time during the party hours. The show also performs on non-party nights.
Disney has confirmed that A Frozen Holiday Surprise will be performing at least by November 13, the official kickoff of Disney World’s holiday season, but if things follow previous years’ schedules, it will debut in time for the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on November 8.
While we’re on this subject, I can’t pass up the opportunity to remember my favorite offering from Christmas past: the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights.
If you haven’t been to Disney World during the holidays since before the pandemic, you may remember the icicle lights that previously adorned the castle. Disney no longer puts up these lights, and Elsa’s projection-mapping is their replacement. A Frozen Holiday Surprise is a modified version of the previous show, A Frozen Holiday Wish, which incorporated the lights turning on for the evening instead of projections.
Christmas Parade, Fireworks, and Stage Show
This last item is a bit of an in-between inclusion, as it relates to entertainment that’s exclusive to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party for most of the season, until it then becomes part of Magic Kingdom’s daily lineup for all guests at the last second.
3 main draws of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are performed exclusively during the party until the final night of the event. Typically, once the event has concluded for the season, these 3 productions transition into being performed during Magic Kingdom’s regular operating hours.
These include:
- Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade
- Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks
- Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, the castle stage show
Disney hasn’t confirmed that this occurrence will happen again in 2026, but the company never advertises the transition regardless, and it has happened for decades. We won’t know this year’s dates for sure until they get closer, but the final Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is December 22, and the daily operations of the holiday live entertainment likely won’t commence before that. The schedule usually continues through at least New Year’s Eve.
In turn, this also means that Magic Kingdom’s standard entertainment pauses during Christmas week. This includes Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and the Happily Ever After fireworks. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, the usual castle stage show, sometimes still performs during the daytime during this period, with Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration sticking to nighttime performances, but again, 2026’s schedule has not been revealed yet.
