Disney World Closes Restaurant Permanently After Three Decades of Celebrity Chef Locations

It’s a busy few weeks for Walt Disney World dining as EPCOT kicks off its annual Food & Wine Festival, Magic Kingdom prepares to open a pop-up restaurant, Disney’s BoardWalk readies for an adult lounge, and several Disney Springs dining locations permanently shutter. Multiple churro kiosks closed earlier this week, and now a larger longtime Disney Springs restaurant tenant is saying farewell.

A Disney World restaurant is closing permanently, ending a decades-long collaboration between Disney and a notable celebrity chef. We have the closure dates and details. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including a tour inside Disney World’s newest major attraction and new Disney World food.

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck has a long history of bringing his signature cuisine, inspired by California with a flair of Mediterranean, to Walt Disney World.

When Disney Village Marketplace and Pleasure Island combined and rebranded into Downtown Disney (now called Disney Springs) in 1997, Wolfgang Puck helped launch the destination with not one, but two restaurants.

Wolfgang Puck Express offered a quick service option, operating through 2020 and ultimately replaced by EET by Maneet Chauhan.

Wolfgang Puck Grand Café provided a table service alternative, cooking up full meals until 2017, when it moved to make way for Jaleo by José Andrés.

Puck’s table service venture at Disney Springs reopened in a new location as Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill in 2018. It’s this restaurant that’s closing its doors.

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at Disney Springs will permanently close on September 14, 2026, ending Puck’s 29-year tenure in Disney World’s dining and shopping district. The restaurant’s final operating day is September 13.

A replacement restaurant has not yet been announced, nor has a future concept for Puck elsewhere in Disney Springs. This will leave Disney Springs without any Wolfgang Puck establishment for the first time in 29 years.

The Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill menu spotlights pizzas, pastas, salmon, meatloaf, and chicken schnitzel, among other dishes.

On September 13, the restaurant’s final day, it will serve brunch from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and dinner from 3:05 PM to 10:00 PM.

I have fond memories of enjoying Wolfgang Puck Express with my family at Disney World during my childhood. We enjoyed the food there so much that we found the closest location near our home and started regularly eating there almost weekly.

The permanent closure of Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill is among a long list of recent dining changes throughout Disney Springs. Sunshine Churros, a pair of specialty churro kiosks, closed earlier in September.

It’s not all closures, though. Level99 opened this summer as a self-described “adult playground,” complete with a two-story bar. Six Ravens also recently opened as a new concept from the creators of the hugely popular Gideon’s Bakehouse. It specializes in savory and sweet hand pies.

Beyond Disney Springs, there’s also been lots of foodie news. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is underway through November 21, and with it the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. See the full menus for Food & Wine booths and the lineup of concert musicians.

Guests attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this fall can find exclusive menus waiting for them at the event.

In October, The Diamond Horseshoe Pop-Up will open at Magic Kingdom with a new take on Disney’s famous mini corndogs, and Hurly-Burly will open at Disney’s BoardWalk as a family-friendly trivia lounge by day and an adults-only venue by night.
