Pixar Pier: Everything You Need to Know Including Review Tour and Photos

Pixar Pier came to Disney California Adventure Park in Summer 2018. This new land celebrates the films of Pixar with new games and a fantastic new Incredibles theme on the roller coaster.

Pixar Pier includes four neighborhoods, including Incredibles, Toy Story, Inside Out, and a Pixar Promenade which features many beloved Pixar stories and characters. The highlight of the pier is the newly themed Incredicoaster which was formerly California Screamin'.

Pixar Pier Entrance

Make sure to look up as you enter Pixar Pier to see Luxo Jr. looking down and interacting with guests. So many guests skip on past without ever looking at this little guy and he's great. There's also plenty of photo ops along the way too- be sure to take your time and get some good family pictures.

To your immediate left when you enter Pixar Pier, you will see the Knicks Knacks souvenir store stocked to the brim with plenty of Pixar themed merchandise, treats, and more. Your kids will love this store- if you're not read to start the pier off with toys- make sure to scoot them along.

On your immediate right after you walk under the sign, you will see the entrance to the Lamplight Lounge.

For your best Pixar themed dining option, then you cannot miss the Lamplight Lounge Restaurant. You will find this restaurant right towards the entrance to the pier. The theme is a place where Pixar animators would come after work and includes sketches on the walls. Guests can enjoy cocktails and appetizers upstairs, and a full menu downstairs. It is an expansion of the popular Cove Bar and yes, the menu has the popular lobster nachos here!

Check out our full dining review and photo tour here.

The exterior of Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats

Also, past the entrance on the left is also where you can find the Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats stand with the famous Pixar Pier Parfait and lemon soft service- all vegan! These treats are popular and with good reason- they are delicious.

You will also see a variety of Pixar themed billboards along your walk to the Incredibles neighborhood. It's a fantastic place to get photo ops!

Pixar Pier Incredicoaster and Incredibles Neighborhood

The Incredibles Neighborhood has a 1950’s look just like the movies. The former California Screamin’ roller coaster was rethemed into the Incredicoaster.

The backstory of the attraction is that the Incredibles family is at the dedication of the new town roller coaster. Both Edna, the eccentric costumer, and Jack-Jack are too short to ride so they wait in the VIP room while the rest of the family enjoys the ride. But, out of nowhere, Jack-Jack escapes onto the coaster track and the entire family has to struggle to catch him.

The existing ride structure has been updated with new show scenes throughout including vignettes at the opening and end of the attraction and now fully enclosed scream tunnels. The updated roller coaster has a new look for the ride vehicles and updated launch area and loop mechanisms. The coaster has a new score from composer Michael Giacchino who takes inspiration from the scores of both Incredibles and Incredibles 2.

Also in this neighborhood you can find a character meet and greet with the eccentric costumer from the Incredibles, Edna Mode along with other favorite Incredibles characters like Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible, and Frozone.

Pixar Pier Toy Story Neighborhood

Jessie’s Critter Carousel Rendering

The popular carnival game attraction, Toy Story Mania!, will be the anchor to this playful neighborhood and the ride is not changing. A large icon of the redheaded, yodeling cowgirl, Jessie, will be in the plaza area, and King Triton’s Carousel will reopen as Jessie’s Critter Carousel. Guests can corral fun animals, such as an armadillo, bunny, buzzard, raccoon, skunk, turtle, rattelesnake, and deer. Jessie's Critter Carousel is now open.

Poultry Palace looks like a giant carton of takeout chicken. There is also a churro stand called Senor Buzz Churros where you can buy different variations of this delicious treat. Guests can also meet and greet Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and other Toy Story characters at Pixar Pals where a bandstand features a new musical troupe.

Pixar Pier Inside Out Neighborhood

This neighborhood is on the western side of the boardwalk and features the beloved emotions from the movie, such as Joy, Sadness, Anger, and Disgust. You can enjoy hot dogs from Angry Dogs featuring our favorite angry emotion.

Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff sells candy, slushies, and other sweets. Don't skip these slushies- they are fantastic! The layout of this store is simply whimsical and fantastic- be sure to take the time to see it!

Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind

This Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is located in the space occupied by the Maliboomer years ago. This attraction features the five emotions from the movies, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. Located on the western end of the pier, the lush and colorful Inside Out Headquarters is the home of the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind! This whimsical family-friendly attraction inspired by “Inside Out” is —not surprisingly—full of emotions.

Pixar Pier Promenade

Image result for disneyland pixar pal a round

Pixar Pal-A-Round features 24 gondolas featuring a different Pixar character. You can choose a swinging options for you brave thrillers and a non-swinging if you prefer the traditional ferris wheel ride.

The Games of the Boardwalk all have Pixar themes and are inspired by traditional boardwalk games. The games include: Bullseye Stallion Stampede, WALL-E Space Station, La Luna Star Catcher, and Heimlich Candy Corn Toss. Scroll down to see our tour review and see a step by step about these games.

The area that contains the attractions Jumpin’ Jellyfish, Golden Zephyr, Silly Symphony Swings, Goofy’s Sky School, and The Little Mermaid along with Paradise Gardens are now called Paradise Park.

Games of Pixar Pier Review and Guide

The games on Pixar Pier were re-redesigned with Pixar themes when Pixar Pier debuted in Summer 2018. The games are the same as they were but with just different Pixar themes.

Here are the four games to choose from:

La Luna Star Catcher

Basically, you ‘fish’ for a star! Winner every time.

Heimlich's Candy Corn Toss ????

Try to toss the candy corn into Heimlich’s mouth. We didn’t play this one but looks like you win once you get it in his mouth- fairly easy looking!

Let’s dance! ????

This WALL•E themed game has guests shoot water to make WALL•E and Eve dance into space. First one to send theirs to space wins. Needs more than one player to play.

Bullseye Stallion Stampede ????

Sit at one end of a table and roll rubber balls into the right holes to make your horse run faster. Requires more than one player. The higher the point value of the hole, the faster your horse races. If your horse is the first across, you win!

The Details

The cost is $4 per person per game. You buy a game card and load points onto it. As far as I could tell, it only accepted cash and credit/debit. No Disney gift cards.

The reloadable card you get to play the games.

My son absolutely loved these games. I think it’s a fair price for what you get and the experience. We came back again and again- that's how much we loved them! But we always came EARLY in the morning and played against each other so we knew one of us would always win!

My son won the star with one play on La Luna Star Catcher. The Wall-E he got after winning twice- he traded his first identical (and small) one for this bigger version. He couldn’t play that game alone so I had to play so that means we had to spend $16 to win that guy. Seems about right as far as stuffed plushes cost and he’s so cute!

Pixar Pier Tips and Strategies

the Incrediables posing with couple on Pixar Pier

Here are some things I learned from my most recent visit to Pixar Pier:

  • When the temps are high, Pixar Pier can be roasting hot. Getting there early is the best way to enjoy all there is to see and do in the most pleasant way.
  • If you have your heart set on a treat from the Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats stand then make sure you head here early before the lines fill up. Nothing says vacation like lemon soft serve for breakfast. Since it was 8:15AM when we walked by there was no line at all. In the afternoons the line for these awesome treats stretch far along the pier in the hot sun. Consider having the Pixar Pier Frosty Parfait for breakfast to avoid those hot lines late in the day.
  • Same with Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums, the lines are short in the morning. Have a giant chocolate chip cookie for breakfast as well!
  • Your kids can ride alone if they're 7 & up and meet the height requirements. My son rode the Incredicoaster while I enjoyed a giant cookie. I just booked a FastPass for both of us (although, we could have used the Single Rider line) waited with him in line, put him on the ride, and then waited for him by the exit. Easy peasy!
  • We took advantage of the PhotoPass pictures along the way and got some great pictures. Mornings are my favorite time to do this when everyone looks their best and is feeling fresh. Check out our guide to everything PhotoPass and photography related here.
  • Then we headed to the Games of Pixar Pier! Since it was so early, there was no one there except us. The advantage of this was we won something each time!
