Theme park rides occasionally close for routine maintenance, and sometimes all that’s required is a single day of downtime for work to be performed. Universal Orlando Resort added a very short refurbishment to its calendar. See also Disney ride closures this month.
A popular ride at Universal Orlando will be closed for one day soon, affecting park hopping and joining a list of other closures, openings, and changes happening around the same time. Harry Potter Ride Closure Added to Refurbishment Calendar
Universal Orlando added the Hogwarts Express to its ongoing list of attraction refurbishments. This full-scale train connects two distinct Harry Potter areas located in separate theme parks: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure.

Guests can board the train in either park and experience different special effects during their ride depending on which direction they’re headed. It’s unique in providing real park hopping transportation disguised as a themed ride. Guests must have a park-to-park ticket, with admission for both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, to ride the Hogwarts Express.
Hogwarts Express will be closed for one day only, on November 4, 2026. Since the Hogwarts Express is a big draw for those with a park-to-park ticket, guests visiting on this day, especially Harry Potter fans, may want to note that the train will be inaccessible on that day.
Guests with a park-to-park ticket will still be able to visit both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure on November 4, but they will need to take the short walk between the parks to do so.

The Hogwarts Express does not connect to the third and newest Harry Potter land, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, which is located farther away at Universal Epic Universe. This brand-new theme park just opened in 2025.
The Hogwarts Express refurbishment comes amid a busy period of other closures and openings throughout Universal Orlando. October 25 will be the last day to visit the Universal Volcano Bay water park before it closes for an extended refurbishment, slated to reopen by April 1, 2027.
November 1 will be the final night of Halloween Horror Nights 2026, the resort’s world-famous haunt event, as well as the Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle projection show.
November 2 will be the last day ever for Animal Actors on Location!, a live show that’s been around since the resort opened in 1990. Universal has not announced plans for a replacement.
November 14 will see the holiday season return to the resort, complete with the Universal Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s and the Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular.
November 20 will be the reopening day for Jurassic Park River Adventure, which has been closed since January for an extensive refurbishment.
Across town at Walt Disney World, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom will close for refurbishment on November 2 and is expected to reopen sometime in December.
