Disney World recently made a change to the pre-show for one of the most popular rides at the entire resort. There have been multiple recent changes to this pre-show sequence to manage crowd flow. This change makes a different crowd management improvement.
There are always tweaks being made to rides and processes at the theme parks, but this roller coaster in particular has been the subject of a lot of changes this summer. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including issues with AI taking real designs and the newest rides coming in the next year.

Previously, there was a pause in the scene where Terry Crews is on screen talking about beaming guests up to the space station that would draw guests to yell out.
After practicing addressing guests as “people of EPCOT”, Crews says out to the crowd “does anyone know what they call themselves” with a pause. Some guests had taken to shouting out “day drinkers” or “alcoholics” in reference to the Drinking Around the World practice at the theme park. In my most recent rides on Guardians, there has almost always been someone shouting this out.
Now, there is a new change in the pre-show video where a “glitch” has been added in that cuts off the pause and prevents there from being a moment for any guests to shout out.
The video jumps from “does anyone know what they call themselves” to “what? I am on, someone needs to tell me when I am on” with no clear pause where someone could yell out their “alcoholics” comment.
This feels like a good change to keep the experience family friendly and remove a moment that served only the person who shouted out. It has always been an awkward moment for most in the room that typically draws eye rolls and might make some uncomfortable.

In a video of the change, commenters shared thoughts including, “GOOD!! Hopefully it stays this way!! Celebrating being an alcoholic at Disney, with kids in the room is insane!!” and “It’s humorous potential was overshadowed by its ridiculousness.”
Here’s the video of the recent change.
The change comes after other recent crowd control changes at Guardians of the Galaxy.
In the third pre-show room where guests are teleported up to the space station, guests now aggressively line themselves up against the doors that lead to the queue waiting for the pre-show to end. This leads to a lot of pushing and shoving as guests merge from three doors down to one hallway after the pre-show.
They have now roped off the middle of the three doors and have started to hold one of the two door lines to more orderly move guests into the line. There are now cast members stationed on the other side of the door with light sticks helping with the merge.
We have written in our other coverage of the crowd control for the room that it is disappointing that guests push to get through this area so quickly to get into the next room and onto the roller coaster. The moment of being transported and the pre-show are one of the quintessential Disney experiences that makes the roller coaster different than something you would find at any other theme park.
Disney has been making changes to correct guest behavior throughout this year. Disney has faced guests staying overnight in parking garages waiting for new pin releases the following morning, elaborately decorating their rooms on cruise ships, and “pixie dusting,” a term referring to guests leaving hidden items in the parks for others to find. We are closely following these changes, both big and small, to bring you the latest news.
What do you think about the changes? Will you miss hearing “day drinkers” shouted out during the pre-show?
