Disney has just made another rule change that impacts pin trading and other merchandise releases. This change comes just after Disneyland changed its pin trading rules at a popular gathering spot in Frontierland.
This new change will be in effect for the next upcoming major merchandise release and will impact how guests plan for these events. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including the June ride closures at Disneyland and Disney World, plus the expansion of a viral Disney World treat.

Disney Springs Changes Rules for Merchandise Events
The hobby of pin trading at Disney has been in the headlines for the last few weeks, with Disneyland’s recent change to pin trading rules. The new policy at Disneyland restricts guests from displaying pins on benches, chairs, and tables, which effectively puts an end to the popular pin trading gathering spot in Frontierland. The area was transitioned into a kids-only trading space. You can see what this pin trading looks like now in our recent coverage. The policy also further limits what guests can use for trading by banning binders, signage, and other display setups.

Now, rule changes are impacting pin trading at Walt Disney World, with Disney Springs announcing a new policy for merchandise events on their social media page. The biggest merchandise event at Disney Springs is “Pin Tuesdays,” when new pins are released and often draws large crowds. Some releases were so popular that crowds were queuing for the releases overnight.
The new change removes the practice of overnight queuing by asking guests to leave the parking garages at the end of the operating day. Access to the parking garages and the rideshare loops will not be allowed until 7 AM on the day of any merchandise event. No overnight parking, access to the garages, or rideshare drop-offs will be allowed. This rule goes into effect on Tuesday, June 2nd.
The policy shared by Disney Springs states, “Any vehicles arriving before this time on event days will be asked to depart and return at 7 a.m.”
Disney is aware of the demand surrounding merchandise, especially on Pin Tuesdays, and is now distributing wristbands to ensure guests can queue in a single line. This wristband distribution will take place at Lime Garage. This practice is to ensure all guests remain in a single line without the use of stairs or elevators.

As of now, the pin trading gatherings that take place at EPCOT in the breezeways between Connections have still been allowed. Considering these recent approaches to mitigate crowds related to pin trading at Disneyland and now Disney Springs, I would not be surprised to see this space regulated next.
