List of Disney World Resorts 2024

Thirty-one: That’s the number on the list of Walt Disney World resorts we're  covering in this guide.

Can you imagine how many trained Cast Members that takes to make sure guests have a magical vacation? More importantly for you Mickey Visit readers planning your next Disney World vacation: with each resort having their own different special theming, you’ve literally got a whole world of resorts to choose from!

Just imagine trying to stay at each different type of room at each different resort.

With how much land the Disney Company owns in central Florida, it’s hard to imagine that Disney wouldn’t build a new resort in the near future either.

When all was said and done in the late mid 1960’s, Walt and his team bought enough land to equate to the area of San Francisco – or twice the size of Manhattan. It’s no wonder they were able to build an endless amount of resorts for guests visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth! But with all that Disney offers, you’re going to need a list of Disney World resorts to help your Disney vacation planning process easier.

Here's a complete list of Walt Disney World resorts, first in alphabetical order, and then broken down by category.

Walt Disney World Resorts Listed in Alphabetical Order

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

Fort Wilderness Resort

The 750-acre cypress and pine forest resort between Magic Kingdom and EPCOT is arguably one of the lesser-known Disney World resorts on property.

This resort offers the best of the great outdoors with its campsites ranging in length from 25 feet to 65 feet to accommodate tents, tent trailers, and recreational vehicles. And for those who prefer a more indoor experience with the outdoor vibe, Disney also offers freestanding Fort Wilderness cabins that can accommodate up to 6 guests. Both of these accommodation options give guests more immersion into “the wild,” where rabbits, ducks, deer, geese, armadillos, and peacocks roam.

For those interested in seeing the Main Street, U.S.A. horses, this is also where Tri-Circle-D Ranch is located!

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort

All Star Movies Resort

Situated closest to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, these 3 resorts pay homage to their respective titles.

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort features 5 Disney film-inspired themed areas, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort features areas themed after Country, Broadway, Jazz, Rock, and Calypso-style music, and Disney’s All-Star Sports features areas themed after football, tennis, baseball, basketball, and surfing.

With loud colors and massive statues representing each theme, families will have so much fun exploring these resorts!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village

Animal Kingdom Lodge

Take 1 step into Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and you’ll see why it features some of the best theming of all the Disney World resorts.

Divided up into 3 resorts with similar theming and in the same area, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge gives guests the experience of lodging deep in the African savanna. Inside, guests will be blown away by the wooden architecture steeped with African culture, while outside, they can enjoy the sights of the savanna filled with zebras, giraffes, elks, kudus, wildebeests, and antelopes. For those that want to learn more about African culture in the resort, guests can take a free tour all about the resort’s theming or explore the African art and artifacts scattered around the resort.

There is plenty to discover at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to immerse you in the Disney magic.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Art of Animation Resort Little Mermaid

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort immerses guests into the world of Disney animation, featuring some of the most classic Disney and Pixar movies in the building and room theming.

What makes this Value Resort so special is its ability to literally take you into the world of the animation process. Pencil sketches and storyboards make up the walls of the check-in building, larger-than-life-sized characters from The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars surround guests before they walk into their rooms, and the rooms themselves (mostly made up of family suites) put you into the world of one of these movies. Every aspect of this resort makes it my favorite Value Resort on Disney property.

Disney’s Art of Animation also puts you next to another resort with wonderful theming, and more importantly, right next to the Disney Skyliner!

Disney’s Beach Club Resort
Disney’s Beach Club Villas

Beach Club Resort

Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Beach Club Villas make up a group of resorts from what I like to call the Disney architectural Renaissance.

Designed by renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern, this resort draws inspiration from summer cottages in the late 19th century, with its white wicker, hardwood floors and high ceilings and New England style landscaping. This resort also shares the largest resort pool in Disney World, Sormalong Bay, featuring a sand-bottom! And if you’re tired of relaxing on a bench swing or lounge chair along Crescent Lake, why not take a stroll around the lake to visit any of the other 4 nearby resorts?

And with how close Disney’s Beach Club is to EPCOT and Disney’s Skyliner at International Gateway, guests are closer to the rest of Disney property than they expect.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
Disney’s BoardWalk Villas

BoardWalk Inn

Another one of the resorts from the Disney architectural Renaissance, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas are nestled right across from Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Villas.

Themed after the bygone era of Atlantic seaside resorts, Disney’s BoardWalk gives guests a feel for what it was like to walk up and down the likes of Coney Island and Atlantic City during the 1920s and 1930s. Inside, guests will find vintage furnishings, hardwood floors, and a magnificent “electrolier,” while outside, guests can experience midway games and night-time boardwalk-style entertainment. This is also where Flying Fish is located, one of my favorite seafood restaurants on Disney property!

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas is often touted as a mini-Disney Springs but with much less hustle-and-bustle.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Caribbean Beach Resort

Did you know that this Moderate Disney Resort is 200 acres, making it Disney World’s largest resort on property?

Themed after different Caribbean islands, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is nestled around a 45-acre lake that also makes for a great walking/jogging track. In the middle of the lake and connected by bridge is Caribbean Cay Island, a great spot to find seclusion and sit and relax while the kiddos play in the designated playground. And if you want to do some exploring, guests can walk over to nearby Disney’s Riviera Resort or take Disney’s Skyliner to EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or other Disney Skyliner Resorts!

Disney’s World’s largest resort has so many amenities to it that make it very appealing to all guests.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Contemporary Resort

One of 3 Disney resorts along the famed Disney World Monorail, Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower give guests the closest slice of the action to Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort also has the most unique feature of any hotel resort around the world: a monorail that goes through it! With its retro-futuristic theming, guests can stay in rooms featuring some of their favorite Pixar characters from the Incredibles films, marvel at the wonderful artwork of Disney Legend Mary Blair, and dine on top of the World at California Grill. The views of Magic Kingdom from both the 4th floor observation deck and 15th floor where California Grill sits are unmatched!

This makes viewing the nightly fireworks from Disney’s Contemporary Resort such a treat!

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Coronado Springs Resort Destino Tower

Themed after the American Southwest, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is the only Moderate Resort to feature a convention center.

Despite this fact and its busy-ness during convention times, the theming and immersion and wonderful dining options of this resort make it on my top-5 list of Disney World resorts. Full of rustic stucco buildings, Mexican-style bungalows, and Spanish terracotta roofs, guests can stay in different stylings reminiscent of the American Southwest. And if you’re wanting a more luxurious feel, guests can stay at Destino Tower, which feels like a Deluxe Resort but with Moderate Resort pricing!

For those looking for excellent Disney theming and service at a modest budget, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort should be at the top of your list.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Grand Floridian Resort

Themed after the likes of Hotel del Coronado, Disney’s flagship resort makes up the second resort along the Monorail line, making it another hot commodity to put guests closer to Magic Kingdom.

With a tasteful combination of Victorian elegance and modern-day amenities, guests will marvel at the wonderful 5-story atrium lobby, stained-glass domes, and red-topped roofs, and listen to beautiful instrumental renditions of classic Disney tunes played on a massive grand piano. Make sure to walk around this resort, which also features a beach overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon, a wedding pavilion with the perfect view of Cinderella Castle, and a number of fine-dining restaurants and exquisite bars and lounges.

There’s a good reason why Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is one of the icons of Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Old Key West Resort

Old Key West Resort

The original Disney Vacation Club Resort gives guests one of the most relaxing atmospheres on Disney property.

Themed after the quaint villas from turn-of-the-century Key West, Disney’s Old Key West Resort screams theming of the slow-and-easy life. Guests visiting here can enjoy the beach motif of their rooms, lush landscaping, and shell and starfish imprints along the walkways. And if you’re not up for taking the bus anywhere, why not take the Sassagoula River Cruise to Disney Springs?

Disney’s Old Key West is a great hidden gem at Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

Polynesian Village Resort

Both Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Villas and Bungalows make up the final resort along the Monorail Line, directly across Seven Seas Lagoon from Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Polynesian Village is also 1 of 2 original hotels that opened with the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971 (the other being Disney’s Contemporary Resort), themed with the culture of the South Pacific. With the tropical theming of the Great Ceremonial House, Polynesian food at ‘Ohana and Kona Island restaurants, one-of-a-kind tiki bar, and highly-coveted bungalows along the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, it’s no wonder this resort is busy all the time. And with its newest Disney Vacation Club tower, it’ll surely stay one of the most popular Disney World resorts a while.

Staying along any of the Monorail Resorts is a sure fire way to up the ante of your Disney vacation.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Pop Century Resort

It’s hard to follow up a list of absolutely magnificent Deluxe Resorts, but if I had to choose 1 to discuss afterwards, it’s Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

Nestled across Hourglass lake from Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort is the second Value Resort with a dedicated Disney Skyliner station. This resort takes guests on a trip through American pop culture during the second half of the 21st century, with each building representing a different decade. From humungous bowling pins, 8-track tapes, yo-yos, and even Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads, guests get to enjoy the whimsical nature of this resort.

Believe it or not, Disney’s Pop Century is a fan-favorite to many and a go-to option for guests seeking to be in the “Disney bubble” on a budget.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
Port Orleans Resort

Situated right next to each other, both of Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts offer the best of the best of New Orleans culture.

With French Quarter themed after the charm of New Orleans’ heart of Mardi Gras and Riverside themed after the romance of rural Louisiana, both of these resorts feature the charm of the South. Here, guests can walk through and explore quaint streets with wrought iron fences and plantation-style mansions, listen to late-night jazz, and enjoy gumbo and beignets. From either resort, guests can also take the Sassagoula River Cruise to Disney Springs!

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter and Riverside both immerse guests in the charm of the South.

Disney’s Riviera Resort

Riviera Resort

Walt Disney’s love of the French-Italian Riviera is what sparked the planning and building of this magnificent resort.

The only Deluxe Resort with a Disney Skyliner station, Disney’s Riviera Resort was intentionally designed to look like the apartments you would find along the French-Italian Riviera. For me, Disney’s Riviera Resort provides an elegant-but-homey feel to guests, with its lobby designed with white walls, marble flooring and tall ceiling, intimate European-style lounge inspired by Walt Disney’s travels, and apartment-like structure. And we can’t fail to mention one of the most popular signature dining restaurants on Disney property, Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera.

Disney’s Riviera Resort easily ranks among my top resorts at Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

Saratoga Springs Resort

Whether or not you’re a fan of horse-racing, this resort brings guests into a whole different world.

Designed after the well-known New York community, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa immerses guests in turn-of-the-century Victorian ambience in its intricate woodwork, soft pastel colors, and trademark floral patterns. Even if you’re not a horse-racing aficionado, many guests will enjoy the styling and artwork that bring the feel of Saratoga Springs to central Florida. And its location puts guests walking-distance from Disney Springs!

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is arguably a hidden gem of Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Wilderness Lodge Resort

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is another hidden gem, but for very different reasons.

Situated along Bay Lake right next to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge gives guests the feel of turn-of-the-century National Parks Service lodges that were especially popular in the American Northwest. I absolutely love this resort for its 8-story, split-log lodge-style lobby, Native American-inspired art, and 82-foot tall fireplace. And with its proximity to Magic Kingdom, guests can take a boat over to the Most Magical Place on Earth, enjoy fishing along the lake, and even enjoy the Electrical Water Pageant in the evening.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has so many unique amenities to explore that keeps guests coming back.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Yacht Club Resort

The final Disney World resort along Crescent Lake and part of the Disney Architectural Renaissance, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort takes guests back to the elegant New England seashore hotels of the 19th century.

Unlike the more casual feel of Disney’s Beach Club Resort & Villas next door, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort gives guests a more quiet, understated elegance in its theming, with its dark hardwood floors, antique fixtures, leather couches. To top off all of its nautical details is its lighthouse extending into Crescent Lake – which, of course, gives guests access to visit the other 4 Disney World resorts as well as the Disney Skyliner and International Gateway at EPCOT. Finally, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort also gives guests access to quality dining, including Ale & Compass Restaurant which serves up New England Gastropub-style food.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Resort rounds out the trio of resorts around Crescent Lake to give a well-rounded variety of lodging options.

Other Notable Walt Disney World Resorts

While the following resorts are not owned by Disney, they are still part of the list of Walt Disney World Resorts and do offer some of the same benefits guests enjoy at Disney-owned resorts, including Extra Magic Hours.

Let’s go over these 4 resorts.

Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
Walt Disney World Swan Hotel

Swan and Dolphin Hotel

The location of the this duo of resorts puts them at walking distance from the Disney World resorts around Crescent Lake.

The Walt Disney World Dolphin is easy to spot miles away thanks to its distinctive 27-story triangle-shaped main building lush with a coral and turquoise exterior, giant banana leaves, and two 56-foot dolphin structures at either end. And directly across from it sits the Walt Disney World Swan, which is distinct in its own right with 2 beautiful swan sculptures perched atop either side of the main building. Since both resorts are managed by Marriott International, Inc., guests have the luxury of knowing that they will have of the most comfortable nights on Disney property, with their Heavenly Beds and incredible pool complex shared between the 2 resorts. And if you’re hungry, guests have access to several prestigious restaurants. Not to mention being walking distance from 3 other Walt Disney World resorts as well as EPCOT!

Both the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin don’t hold back on lodging quality at Disney World.

Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

Swan Reserve Hotel

Just down the street from both the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels sits the elegant and glamorous Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, a 14-story hotel with an incredible top-floor event space.

The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve gives guests a deluxe-yet-relaxing environment while situating guests in the middle of the Disney magic. Offering identical accommodations as the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, guests can relax in the Heavenly Beds and extremely comfortable pillows and sheets. And with its own signature bar and restaurant, lobby lounge, and even a Disney-themed miniature golf course next door, guests have so much to do at their fingertips!

The newest addition to the series of Swan and Dolphin resorts, the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve gives guests even more options to choose from when wanting comfortable accommodations.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort

Four Seasons Orlando

Just down the street from Disney’s Golden Oak neighborhood community, Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World is “the perfect balance of fun and relaxation.”

Boasting a AAA Five Diamond rating, the Four Seasons Resort Orlando offers guests a 5-acre Explorer Island water park, an oasis-like adult-only pool, rooms with fireworks views – all with the Four Seasons-level service. Not to mention this is the only non-Disney owned Disney World resort with its own character breakfast restaurant! And if you’re not into character dining, Four Seasons Resort Orlando also offers a rooftop steakhouse restaurant that’s Michelin-starred.

There is a good reason why the Four Seasons Resort Orlando is the most expensive resort hotel on Disney property!

Walt Disney World Resorts Listed by Category

Disney Vacation Club Resorts (DVC)

Crescent Lake

Along with the price-point designations we’ll discuss next, a number of Walt Disney World resorts are also Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Resorts.

Without doing a deep dive, DVC is a vacation ownership program that allows you invest in to allow you a more cost-effective way of taking Disney vacations. While it technically is a timeshare program, it’s different from traditional timeshare programs in that the benefits and flexibility of being a DVC member make it much more valuable. And with being a DVC member, you’re able to book nightly visits much further in advance at your “home resort” than other guests.

For the purposes of this article, we’ve put an asterisk (*) next to each DVC Resort.

Value Resorts at Walt Disney World

All-Star Music Resort

The most cost-efficient group of Disney World resorts is the Value Resorts.

And while Value Resorts share many of the amenities offered at Moderate and Deluxe Resorts such as Early Theme Park Entry and early access to Lightning Lane reservations and purchases through Genie+, Value Resorts lack tubs, water slides, and table-service restaurants. All Value Resorts are motel-style with all rooms facing outside and in separate buildings from the main check-in building. And each Value Resort is rich with theming that “wows” so many guests.

Despite what they lack, Value Resorts pack a lot of offerings for their price, and there’s good reason why these resorts are so popular.

  • Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
  • Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
  • Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
  • Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Moderate Resorts at Walt Disney World

Port Orleans Resort

Next up on the list are Disney World’s Moderate Resorts, which are a slight jump up in price compared to Value Resorts.

With the exception of Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, all Moderate Resorts are motel-style with all rooms facing outside and in separate building from the main check-in building. Compared to Value Resorts, the theming at Moderate Resorts is much more subtle and Moderate Resorts offer higher quality dining options and bars. Additionally, rooms in Moderate Resorts are larger than their Value Resort counterparts.

Especially if you’re looking for more amenities without the obvious Disney theming or are looking for a more adult-oriented experience, Moderate Resorts are a great option to consider in our list of Disney World resorts.

Deluxe Resorts at Walt Disney World

Grand Floridian

At the top of the cost-category are the Deluxe Resorts, offering the most in terms of amenities in our list of Disney World resorts.

In addition to Early Theme Park Entry and early access to Lightning Lane reservations and purchases through Genie+ that all Disney World resort guests get to experience, guests staying at Deluxe Resorts also get the option to attend Extended Evening Hours, giving after-hours access to the Disney theme parks. Deluxe Resorts are also a step up from Value and Moderate Resorts in that they offer more luxurious amenities such as spa services, signature dining, and character dining. Two of the biggest advantages of staying at a Deluxe Resort include the variety of Disney transportation offered as well as access to Club Level service for those who want to enhance their vacation further.

My take: all guests staying at a Disney World resort should experience the magic of a Deluxe Resort at least once in their life.
