I Refused to Stay at This Hotel Near Disneyland. Now It’s a New Favorite Because of the Perks

Generally, I have grown up with my family prioritizing being within walking distance of Disneyland over everything else when selecting an Anaheim hotel. I used to refuse to stay at any hotel that was not within walking distance. Recently, I stayed at a hotel that has a huge amount of value for the price and is a short shuttle ride away. Perhaps it was my recent couple of visits to Walt Disney World where buses are the norm, or maybe it was just the quality of the hotel, but this property really stood out even though it is beyond walking distance.

Not only is the hotel impressive, but for readers of Mickey Visit who book through our travel partner, there are substantial additional savings and extras provided. The hotel also feels new and a bit larger than the ones in close vicinity to the parks. I’ll dive into all the perks of staying here and how I now understand why this is one of the top booked hotels from our travel partner. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including a new Disney gift card deal and details on Disney listening to feedback.

Delta Hotels by Marriott Anaheim Near Disneyland Really Surprised Me

Earlier this summer we shared a look at the top most booked hotels that guests booking with our travel partner, Get Away Today, are staying at this year. There were familiar favorites on the list like the Element by Marriott, Tropicana, and Castle Inn & Suites, but two properties stuck out to me as ones that I had not yet personally stayed at because they were further away. In that article, I promised to get to those hotels to understand why they were so popular with Get Away Today guests.

During my time booking and staying at the Delta Hotels by Marriott, I came to understand why so many Get Away Today guests booked this hotel. The extras for Get Away Today guests include free breakfast with made-to-order omelettes, a pre-paid shuttle pass, and free parking. Breakfast typically costs $25.95 for adults and $11.95 for children. The shuttle pass costs $6 per day for adults and $3 per day for kids. Parking at the hotel costs $29 per night. All of this is included for Get Away Today guests. The hotel costs $237-$269 per night for 2027 dates. The Delta Hotels by Marriott Anaheim is a comfortable hotel with recently updated hotel rooms, a big pool area, and great dining options. The hotel also has a convention center space, which causes the hotel to have some additional amenities that other hotels closer to Disneyland don’t provide like a lobby bar and substantial breakfast buffet.

Most important for those who read our typical reviews is understanding the location. The hotel is located directly down Harbor Boulevard from Disneyland, more blocks than you would want to walk to the parks. It is about a seven-minute drive straight down the street to the parks. With the closure of the ART shuttle, there is now a dedicated Garden Grove shuttle that services hotels here. The shuttle is included when you book with Get Away Today.

The shuttle runs every 30 minutes, departing from the hotel on the 15-minute and 30-minute marks. It takes just under 15 minutes to drive to the parks. The shuttle experience was seamless and very easy. I took the shuttle in the morning, mid-day, and in the evening. In the evening and morning, the shuttle was crowded, but it was never an issue.

There is a shuttle pickup area just outside the hotel. The shuttle then picked up from the shuttle pickup area right off Harbor Boulevard at the end of the day. My one open question here is how/when this may change when construction ramps up in this area.

Turning from the distance to Disneyland, the hotel itself benefits from having more space to build than the hotels closest to the parks. The lobby is big and spacious. The hotel also has a Starbucks, lobby restaurant, large gym space, and breakfast buffet.

The breakfast buffet was one of the highlights of my stay! I couldn’t believe that this quality of breakfast was included with my Get Away Today booking.

There was a made-to-order omelette bar, made-to-order waffle station, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs, chilaquiles, oatmeal, yogurt, bread options, and more. This was almost on par with the best breakfast in Anaheim near Disneyland.

The pool area just off the lobby is plenty big, with cabanas for anyone to use down one side. Even during my 90-degree temperature day visit, there were few people using the pool. The pool feels removed from any of the hotel parking lots. You could have a nice day out here enjoying a park break.

In the room, I appreciated the updated furnishings and comfortable layout. The finishes were very nice. The bedding was upscale with down pillows. Everything felt furnished like a nicer home than an outdated hotel.

There were stains on the carpet, but not to a point that I felt the entire carpet was too dirty to walk on. Other than the stains, the room felt newly updated.

Here’s a look at the bathroom, which has a tub shower and one sink.

The gym on the mezzanine level was well equipped and one of the nicest at one of the hotels near Disneyland. It is only rivaled by the two largest hotels directly adjacent to the Anaheim Convention Center.

There is also a Target store directly across Harbor Boulevard from the hotel. It’s in a perfect spot for you to easily pop over to pick up anything that you may have forgotten. Plus, there is a Red Robin right next door.

Some people report in reviews that parking can be cramped here. This isn’t something that I experienced, as I didn’t have a car on this trip.

When I first checked in, they also gave me a fresh chocolate chip cookie to say welcome to the Delta Hotels. There are also two water bottles waiting for you in your room.

Just off the lobby, there is a pantry area to purchase any additional things that you need during your trip or snacks.

Overall, I was thrilled with the value for the money at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Anaheim Garden Grove. The hotel surprised me by making me feel good about considering a non-walking-distance hotel to Disneyland. Our travel partner has a great deal on this hotel and is one of their top sellers because of the fantastic perks included for guests booking through them. CLICK HERE to save big on the hotel!
