Disney’s New Peter Pan Ride Might Be Same Style Planned For New Marvel Ride

There is a brand new Peter Pan ride coming soon that will utilize newer and more current ride technology than we have on Peter Pan's Flight at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

The new Peter Pan ride is part of a larger land called Fantasy Springs which includes Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan. These three separate areas are being treated like “mini lands” with their own dining and attractions celebrating some of Disney's most iconic films.

We just got a new look at breathtaking photos from the Peter Pan ride and one of the first things we noticed is how similar the technology looks to concept art that's been released for the new Marvel ride coming to Avengers Campus in Disneyland. Keep scrolling for these NEW photos and why we think they hint at the future of this upcoming Avengers ride!

Fantasy Springs Opening Date

Fantasy Springs is a brand new land coming to Tokyo DisneySea on June 6, 2024. As the opening draws near for this $2 billion investment from Disney we will continue to see more of this amazing new land. Fantasy Springs is another reason why it's a great bucket list item for Disney fans in the US to consider a trip to Tokyo DisneySea!

Disneyland is the midst of planning many future projects right now like the expansion called DisneylandForward which would allow for further theme park expansion at the Disneyland Resort. It is possible we could see some of these newly developed projects at Tokyo DisneySea be a part of the new DisneylandForward expansion. But our focus in this article is how similar the images look from the new Peter Pan ride to the concept art already released for the new Avengers Campus ride coming to Disneyland.

Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure

The main attraction coming to Peter Pan's Never Land in Fantasy Springs is called Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure.

This new ride transports guests as members of the Lost Boys on a chase with Peter Pan after Captain Hook to rescue Wendy's brother John.

The attraction uses a combination of stills and 3D imagery as guests fly through Never Land and encounter Wendy, Michael, the mermaids, Tiger Lily, and other characters from the film on this adventure.

The new photos gave us a clear look at what the ride experience will look like. In the photo above we can see guests in the new ride vehicle, which blocks out the view on the sides, looking up at the 3D screen.

For reference, here's the full image of the ride vehicle that we saw at the most recent D23. You can see how the walls of the vehicle block the side view of the guests sitting down.

Here is another image from the new Peter Pan ride which appears to use the same technology as Transformers: The Ride – 3D and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando. The Universal ride systems are a mix of projections on screens in 3D and physical sets with similar ride vehicles to the one being used for the new Peter Pan attraction.

And it appears, this may be the same ride technology used for new Marvel ride coming to Disneyland!

Does the New Marvel Ride Use the Same Technology?

Disney has previously shared that the new Marvel ride coming to Avengers Campus in California Adventure “combines elements of Tony Stark's time suits with Xandarian jump points and Wakandan technology to create a vehicle that can transport heroes to remote worlds in a matter of moments.” The ride vehicle will combine “port technology” and “flight capabilities” which is just a measured way of stating that the attraction utilizes physical sets and screens.

This design idea was later reinforced by Disney Imagineering when they confirmed the attraction wold feature “physical words” along “with a blend of large-scale built environments and immersive media.”

The ride vehicles shared in the concept art, seen above, look similar to the same style of ones used in the Transformers: The Ride – 3D and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando.

Transformers Universal Studios Hollywood

While I have compared this ride system to these attractions at Universal, keep in mind both of these rides are years old and the Disney version (both for Peter Pan and Avengers) would be a next-generation version of the ride. It would likely lean more heavily towards physical sets with the Avengers ride being far more thrilling than Spider-Man but perhaps on par with the thrill level of Transformers. This could still mean we will see animatronics as part of the new Marvel ride which would be an awesome way to level up the success of this attraction.

We have still also not yet ridden the new Peter Pan attraction that's opening at Tokyo DisneySea and it's difficult to understand how the movements of the ride vehicle there vary from the Transformers and Spider-Man attractions. I would expect them to be dramatically different because when I think Peter Pan I think calm and floating while the two other Universal attractions are jarring and intense.

Regardless of the ride technology used, Avengers Campus is in need of a second e-ticket attraction to further expand the success of this highly themed land. This new multi-verse attraction will be a great addition and I am sure we will learn more about this new technology Disney is utilizing once we see our first videos of the new Peter Pan ride at Fantasy Springs.
