PHOTOS! First Ever Disney Tangled Ride Takes Guests to Lantern Celebration

Tangled is one of the most popular Disney films and Disney fans have been wanting an attraction for this iconic ride for quite some time! Tangled is now getting its own boat ride which will take guests to the lantern celebration straight out of the film.

The Tangled ride is part of a larger land called Fantasy Springs which includes Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan. This magical spring is dedicated to these three films in separate “mini lands” within the larger Fantasy Springs area.

The new Tangled ride, Rapunzel's Lantern Festival, is one of the most highly anticipated rides in this new land. We got a look at new breathtaking PHOTOS from the ride that shows how Disney has really hit it out of the park with this one.

Fantasy Springs Opening

Fantasy Springs, the newest themed port at Tokyo DisneySea, opened on June 6, 2024. This expansion was an impressive $2 billion dollar investment from Disney. These large budgets, which are common for Tokyo Disney, are one of the reasons Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea should be on every Disney Parks fan's top vacation list. This would be a great time to plan that Tokyo DisneySea trip!

With the DisneylandForward re-zoning and expansion initiative approved at the Disneyland Resort, it is possible we could see some of these newly developed projects at Tokyo DisneySea be a part of the new DisneylandForward expansion.

Rapunzel's Lantern Festival

The Tangled area of Disney Fantasy Springs, called Rapunzel's Forest, includes the attraction Rapunzel's Lantern Festival and a restaurant inspired by the Snuggly Duckling tavern from the film where Rapunzel first encountered all the ruffians. Let's break down all the newly released photos from Disney. Some of these photos are so stunning I thought they were actual movie stills at first!

In the photo above, we have the first look at the attraction sign for Rapunzel's Lantern Festival.

We also get to see what the queue will look like which is lit with lanterns inspired by the film.

Guests will be able to see Rapunzel's tower in the distance as they move through the queue.

These lanterns provide the perfect ambiance at night as they illuminate the queue and the entrance.

As guests board the boats for the attraction, they will first float past Rapunzel's Tower. We can see what the tower looks like above when it's illuminated at night.

A closeup of the tower shows an animatronic Rapunzel singing out the window. The attraction follows the storyline from the Tangled film and this part will show her singing “When Will My Life Begin.”

The variety of animatronics on this Tangled ride are simply stunning. This image above shows Rapunzel swinging from her hair and our first look at one of the Flynn Rider animatronics.

Guests will also see The Snuggly Duckling restaurant as they glide past the tavern where Rapunzel and Flynn meet the band of ruffians from the movie.

There are multiple animatronics of both Flynn and Rapunzel but well-known characters like Max the horse are also featured.

Pascal is included as well, you can spot him in multiple scenes throughout the attraction.

The attraction captures some of the most memorable moments from the film like when Rapunzel reveals the magic of her hair to Flynn Rider. Notice the small details that are simply right out of the movie, like Pascal smirking as he points at his hand.

Easily the most breathtaking part is when guests come to the end of the ride which features the lantern festival from the film.

Rapunzel and Flynn sing that iconic “I See the Light” song from the movie Tangled in this scene. This looks like the part in the ride that I might start sobbing but who wouldn't!

Check out the clip shared of this moment below:

This ride is simply perfect! Disney fans have bemoaned for years, especially at Walt Disney World, the underwhelming presence of Rapunzel in the parks.

I mean, a bathroom is neat and everything, but I think it's time she was given a bit more. I would love to see this new Tangled ride become part of the DisneylandForward expansion. We can only hope!
