This week is an exciting time for Disneyland as construction on major projects continues and the park prepares to welcome back the nighttime spectacular Fantasmic! after its lengthy absence in a couple of days (see the new details Disney shared about some changes to the show).
A member of our Mickey Visit team is visiting Disneyland every week to keep track of what is new at the parks and Downtown Disney. This week, we have a look at a Downtown Disney shop closure, progress on Tiana's Bayou Adventure construction, new merchandise that has appeared at the resort, and more.
Keep reading for an update on everything new at the parks this week!

New Toy Story Ground Painting in Downtown Disney
In Downtown Disney, there is a new Toy Story ground painting of Jessie and Woody that is currently in the works near the new stage. In our update last week, we saw a ground painting of Mei in her red panda form by artist Pei Jun Tang in progress at Downtown Disney. These ground paintings are so cute and a great addition to Pixar Fest which is currently running at the Disneyland Resort, highlighting our favorite Pixar characters and stories.
California Sole Closed in Downtown Disney
The footwear store California Sole in Downtown Disney closed earlier this month. The shop announced its closure in April on Instagram, sharing a caption beginning with “It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to California Sole Anaheim at the Downtown Disney District. While we’ve had a great ride and will never forget our loyal customers, it’s time for us to pursue some of our lifelong passions and interests.”
Right now, there is a sign outside of the shop that says, “Something new and exciting coming soon!” Disneyland has not yet officially shared what will be coming to this space.
New Merchandise at World of Disney
At the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney, there is some cute new Pride merchandise available ahead of Pride Month including shirts, mugs, a Lougefly, and more. This June, there are also two party dates coming up for Disneyland After Dark Pride Nite.
Also at World of Disney, you'll now find a selection of merchandise celebrating Donald Duck's 90th anniversary including a headband, plush toys, apparel, bags, collectibles, and much more.
Din Tai Fung Sign
Din Tai Fung now has its sign up! Disney recently announced that the renowned restaurant will be opening this summer in Downtown Disney, though they did not share an exact opening date. It looks like progress is coming along for the restaurant and we hope to see it open soon. This is one of my favorite restaurants, so I'm really looking forward to this new addition—see our review of another Din Tai Fung location for what to expect and our recommended menu items.

New Golden Vine House Sign
Over at Disney California Adventure in the space that was the former Blue Sky Cellar, there is now a Golden Vine House sign that has been added for the new Disney Vacation Club location in progress.
This space will become a new Disney Vacation Club Welcome Home Center. This area will likely be a sales center for DVC. There is already a DVC lounge inside Disneyland Park that you can check out here.
Fantasmic! Returning on Friday
We are just a few short days away from the return of Fantasmic!, which will be returning to the park this Friday following a year-long absence after the Maleficent dragon caught on fire. You can read our full guide to the show for everything you need to know about Fantasmic! at Disneyland ahead of its return and check out all of the dining package options that were recently announced for the show.
There is also some new colorful popcorn for Fantasmic! that we spotted near the Rivers of America. See the bags of the new popcorn below:
Main Street Construction
On Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland Park, there appears to be some work happening currently with construction walls up and a cover over the building.
Tiana's Bayou Adventure Construction at Disneyland
Disneyland's Tiana's Bayou Adventure construction continues to make progress as we are approaching the opening date of Disney World's version of the attraction later next month. We recently shared our prediction of when Disneyland's version of the attraction will open based on comparing the timelines of construction at the two parks.
