New CHANGES to Disneyland Fantasmic! Show That Returns This Week Revealed

The excitement surrounding Fantasmic!'s return is growing as the show will be coming back to Disneyland in just a couple of days! The beloved nighttime spectacular has been absent from the Rivers of America for over a year now after the Maleficient dragon abruptly caught on fire during a performance last April.

Disneyland recently announced the return of the Fantasmic! dining packages, including the addition of a new one at Rancho de Zocalo Restaurante, and now more details have now been shared on some changes that will be coming to the show when it resumes this Friday – be sure to join our FREE newsletter because we will have a full review of the show and this dining package after we try it out Friday.

Changes Coming to Disneyland's Fantasmic!

Though fans are understandably disappointed that the iconic Maleficent dragon will not be returning, Disney has shared new details on what we will see during the reimagined battle scene between Sorcerer Mickey and Maleficient.

In the scene, Maleficent ascends to a height of 35 feet with her scepter in hand as she ignites the Rivers of America in flames.

See a look below at what appears to be the middle of the battle scene with Maleficent as Sorcerer Mickey springs into action with his magic:

In a piece by the LA Times, Tobi Longo, the show director of “Fantasmic!”, hints that the Maleficent dragon may eventually return. “We’re excited for something to come back, and we’re in the works and working on it” she shared with that publication.

Another new exciting change coming to Fantasmic! is the return of the classic Peter Pan scene, which used to be a part of the show until it was replaced by a Pirates of the Caribbean scene aboard the Saling Ship Columbia after the 2017 refurbishment. Now, the Peter Pan scene will be coming back, and it will introduce new characters!

The Lost Boys will now be a part of the Peter Pan scene as they join Peter and Wendy in the thrilling battle against Captain Hook aboard his pirate ship. We're really looking forward to this new addition, as there is a lot of potential for some really fun moments as these characters are added into the mix!
