Disneyland introduced several new rules for all park guests during the 2020 reopening, including requiring park reservations for any visit and limiting park-hopping between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, provided the guest first visits the park for which they have a reservation. Disneyland officials previously shared an update on park hopping and park reservations.
In light of the steps now involved in planning a Disneyland vacation, any way to simplify the “homework” required before a visit is welcome, and Disney is doing just that with a new change. An update to Disneyland’s park reservations simplifies the process for guests planning a day at the parks. We dive into what changed and how guests can access this new feature. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including a new Disneyland hotel discount and new Disney Hallmark ornaments.

Previously, guests could begin the park reservation process in the Disneyland app, but they would then be redirected to the official Disneyland website in a separate Internet browser window. They had to then log into the Disneyland website on mobile.
For as focused as Disney seems to be on streamlining guest processes within the Disneyland app, this presented a cumbersome, inconvenient extra step in a process that is already new and unfamiliar to guests who haven’t visited in a while.
Until very recently, even after making a reservation, guests’ reservations weren’t displayed anywhere in the app. This was rectified in April 2026 and simplified further in May 2026.
Now, Disney has made another change that guests have been waiting for.

Guests visiting Disneyland Resort theme parks can now make park reservations directly in the Disneyland app without being booted over to Disneyland’s website.
Here’s how to make your park reservations using the Disneyland app, regardless of whether you have daily tickets or a Magic Key:
- Open the Disneyland app and tap the “hamburger” three lines at the bottom of the main menu page.
- From this new page, scroll down until you see the heading “Plan My Next Visit.”
- Under the “Plan My Next Visit” header, tap “Park Reservations.”
- On the next screen, titled “Make a New Park Reservation,” tap “Reserve.”
- A calendar will populate the screen, displaying park reservation availability. Select the date of your visit.
- Select the park you’re making a reservation for.

And final steps here. Not seen in the screenshots is selecting your ticket type. We didn’t share the screen to protect personal information.

You’re done! From there, you can see your park reservation(s) displayed in the “My Tickets & Passes” page in the app. See how to find that page here.
It’s worth noting Walt Disney World in Florida introduced its own set of park reservation rules during its pandemic-era reopening, but most of those procedures have subsided, except for annual passholders.
