This could be a fun alternative to the sometimes crowded dance parties that take place inside the theme parks themselves. Since Dug’s Dance Party! takes place at a hotel and not in a central lobby, it might make for a more personal character experience compared to the chaotic dancing scenes in the parks.
Outdoor Movie Nights
Outdoor movie nights are coming to Disneyland Hotel and Pixar Place Hotel this summer.
Guests can enjoy the outdoor movie nights on select evenings from June through September. Disney has not shared exact dates, so guests should inquire for details when checking in.
An outdoor movie night is nice for a stress-free alternative to staying late in the theme parks. Don’t get me wrong, the parks’ nighttime spectaculars, Paint the Night, Fantasmic!, and Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland Park and World of Color Happiness! at Disney California Adventure, are incredible.
However, for families not interested in braving the crowds of those shows but still looking for something fun to do after dark, outdoor movie nights are a perfect option. As a bonus, you’re already at your final destination for the night when it’s over.
Pool Parties
Summer pool parties are coming to all three Disneyland Resort hotel properties: Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and Pixar Place Hotel.
Games, music, and special character appearances will be part of the summer pool parties, which will take place twice weekly from July 2 through September 7, 2026. Disney has not announced specific dates. Hotel guests should check with the front desk upon arrival for more details.
A pool visit is a great way to take a break from the busyness of the theme parks and cool off from the summer heat, and cast members are excellent at getting everyone involved during parties like these.
New this Summer at Disneyland

In addition to the hotel activations, new permanent attractions and limited-time experiences are also debuting at Disneyland Resort this summer.
These include character dance parties at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, a bubble extravaganza at Downtown Disney, and a new version of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
A monthlong event, Celebrate Soulfully: Summer Vibes, will celebrate Black culture from June 19 through July 19, and a popular guided tour that features a visit to Walt Disney’s apartment will return on August 14.
