13 Disney World Resort Hotel Closures and Refurbishments Announced for 2027

Walt Disney World is home to over 25 resort hotel properties that all make up the magic of the Disney “bubble,” which makes staying on-site so appealing. Disney World resort guests receive perks like Early Theme Park Entry, complimentary transportation around the resort, among other benefits.

For guests planning a vacation in 2027, there are several Disney World resort hotels that will have upcoming refurbishments of their guest rooms, pools, restaurants, and transportation options. These dates are all subject to change, but guests who are planning a visit next year should be aware of these closures that could impact their trips. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including changes coming to Disneyland and Hallmark’s first-ever Disney World Christmas movie.

Disney World Resort Room Refurbishments

Disney's All-Star Movies Resort room

First, let’s start with room refurbishments taking place at different resorts. Disney typically updates hotel rooms on a rolling construction schedule, where sections are closed progressively rather than the entire resort at once.

The guest rooms at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, pictured above, will be finished with their refurbishments in late January 2027. Though Disney has not announced what will specifically change about the rooms, we have an idea of what could happen during the refurbishment.

Along with Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, the rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge at Jambo House are also expected to be completed in early 2027.

Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside will also finish its phased room refurbishment in August 2027.

Disney’s Art of Animation will begin refurbishing its resort rooms in a phased refurbishment starting in mid-June 2027 with a refresh that is expected to last until October 2028. The work will take place one themed area at a time.

Disney Resort Pool Refurbishments

Pool refurbishments at Disney World resort hotels aren’t too popular, especially when they include the main feature pools. So far for 2027, there is only one major pool refurbishment announced.

Luna Park Pool and Luna Park Crazy Play Area at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will be closed starting January 11, 2027, and will reopen sometime in April 2027. This pool is also one of the best in Disney World, featuring a slide themed like a wooden roller coaster.

Disney Resort Restaurant Refurbishments

Similar to pool refurbishments, restaurant refurbishments are also unpopular, with two on the schedule for next year.

The popular Scat Cat’s Club Lounge at Disney’s Port Orleans-French Quarter is expected to reopen sometime in January 2027. It closed for refurbishment on October 6, 2026.

The Singing Spirits Pool Bar at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is closing November 11, 2026, and currently has no reopening date, so it could remain closed until 2027.

The Leaping Horse Libations, the pool bar at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, will be closed starting January 11, 2027, and will reopen sometime in April 2027.

Disney Resort Campus Refurbishments

This list of Disney resort refurbishments includes areas around the exterior and main buildings of different resorts. This often does not impact guests too much outside of daytime noise or temporary adjustments to walking paths.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is finishing up its ongoing refurbishments in early 2027.

The Convention Center, El Centro Corridor, and surrounding areas at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort are undergoing phased refurbishments through late September 2027. Some individual spaces may be inaccessible temporarily.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort will also be completing exterior maintenance, which may affect views and walking routes through late 2027.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower is also undergoing refurbishment of select areas, including the Main Tower atrium and exterior. This work is expected to be completed in late 2027.

Disney Resort Transportation Refurbishment

The Disney Skyliner gondola system will be closed for its annual refurbishment from January 24-30, 2027. The closure of the Disney Skyliner affects transportation options at the following resorts:

  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
  • Disney’s Pop Century Resort
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • Disney’s Beach Club Resort
  • Disney’s Beach Club Villas
  • Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Villas

Instead of Disney Skyliner transportation at the above resort hotels, Disney typically provides additional bus transportation.
