Disney’s wide-ranging brand deals can impact theme park vacations in major ways. A recent partnership is already influencing dining options in the parks. Another deal is now affecting a different component of trip planning and looking back on your park experience.
Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World in Florida just made a change to the Disney PhotoPass photography service with a new third-party partner. We have details on this and other PhotoPass updates. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including Disney’s third Haunted Mansion bar opening next year and our review of the character breakfast at Disney World’s flagship resort.

Disney Partnering With Shutterfly on PhotoPass

Disney PhotoPass cast members and onboard ride system capture guests’ photos throughout their Disney vacations. After the trip, guests can purchase digital downloads or physical products with these pictures.
Disney announced a partnership with a well-known brand of photography products and services to offer more options for these keepsakes.

Guests can now opt to link their Disney PhotoPass pictures to their Shutterfly account. From there, guests can purchase products from Shutterfly’s full catalog using their vacation photos.
The service is available for photos captured at Disneyland and Walt Disney World starting today, October 20, 2026. The products will be introduced for photos onboard Disney Cruise Line ships and at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, in 2027.

As part of the partnership, Shutterfly launched a Disney shopping hub with exclusive product designs inspired by Disneyland and Walt Disney World. These products include photo books, cards, home décor, games, and ornaments.
The keepsakes feature park-specific designs, as well as more generic Disney visuals with Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Toy Story, and Cars.
If the Shutterfly Disney photo products follow the protocol of Disney’s existing products, guests will need to purchase access to the photos themselves in addition to the keepsake items. At Disneyland, PhotoPass downloads are included with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. At Walt Disney World, the same is true, but only for ride photos.
“We’re honored to be part of the Disney experience, helping guests and fans hold onto the magic long after they return home,” said Emily Whittaker, Shutterfly CEO. “This alliance creates a seamless connection between the moment and the memory, offering new ways for guests and fans to revisit, share, and celebrate their favorite Disney experiences.”

Because Disney’s announcement notes that the Shutterfly partnership is an opt-in service, we assume the usual suite of PhotoPass products will remain available for purchase directly from Disney. These include photo prints, albums, and books. My family has purchased these before, and they are high-quality ways to preserve your Disney vacation memories.

“Disney PhotoPass and Disney Cruise Line Photo help guests preserve the moments that make Disney Experiences unforgettable, with unique capture experiences and giving everyone the opportunity to be part of the picture,” said Gary Daniels, Disney Products & Experiences Senior Vice President. “Together with Shutterfly, we’re making it easier for guests to bring those memories into their everyday lives through personalized keepsakes they can revisit and share for years to come.”

Earlier this year, Disney sent cease-and-desist letters to independent photographers conducting photo sessions on Disney World property. Following those restrictions, Disney rolled out private photo sessions of its own at select hotels. Disney also began enforcing a rule for Disney Fairytale Weddings photography that had been overlooked before.
Disney recently published a permit for new technology that would automatically remove “unwanted obstructions” from family photos captured by PhotoPass photographers.
Last month, PhotoPass launched a new generative AI feature that imagines Disney World guests as Haunted Mansion characters. The photo-op sparked controversy among fans online.
