For just a few days, guests were given the chance to receive a free Lightning Lane as a prize for a themed scavenger hunt. This was a prize that hadn’t been seen since before the pandemic, and it was just removed quickly once it went viral.

Pirates of the Caribbean Scavenger Hunt Prize Removed

The free scavenger hunt in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, called A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas, brought back a free Lightning Lane to Pirates of the Caribbean as a prize for completing this treasure map-style game.
This prize hasn’t been seen since before the 2020 pandemic and quickly went viral online, with guests excited to see the free Lightning Lane return. When the parks reopened in 2020, the prize was replaced with a collectible card with Jack Sparrow’s signature.

Unfortunately for guests, cast members have reportedly told guests that the Lightning Lane is no longer available as of April 19, and guests will now receive the card with Jack Sparrow’s signature again. There could be several reasons why this free perk was discontinued so quickly.
Before the pandemic, the influence of social media platforms like TikTok hadn’t quite taken off, and this hack of receiving a free Lightning Lane pass went viral on TikTok before other Disney news outlets reported on it. It could be that the number of guests completing the scavenger hunt was putting a strain on the Lightning Lane for Pirates of the Caribbean. As we’ve recently reported on, the influence of apps like TikTok has had a significant impact on the theme parks.
Another reason could be that some guests might not have been patient to finish the scavenger hunt and preferred to ask directly just for their free Lightning Lane than go through the motions. That wouldn’t be that out of line with other Disney scavenger hunts, which often will allow you to just redeem your prize without completing the steps.

To participate in the A Pirate’s Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas scavenger hunt, guests just need to go to The Crow’s Nest to pick up the secret treasure map and then find all the locations throughout Adventureland to win a prize. You have the choice of using a Magic Band, a Key to the World card, or a special themed Magic Talisman card to find the clues.
Once you’ve completed the scavenger hunt, you turn in your paper and receive a special collectible card with Jack Sparrow’s signature.
There are five missions that take approximately 20 minutes to complete. These missions have no time limit, so you can stop and restart each “raid” throughout the day. The Walt Disney World website page lists specific hours that the game takes place, with most times being from 12 PM to 5 PM daily.

While the Lightning Lane prize is no longer available, this is still a fun, free experience for families to participate in while in Magic Kingdom.
