Disney Cruise Line Reveals New Macy's Parade Float

This year's float design celebrates all eight of the Disney Cruise Line with the focal point of the float featuring the Disney Treasure which sets sail in December.

This year's “Magic Meets the Seas” float is a celebration of the growth of Disney Cruise Line which includes the five ships currently sailing (Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish) along with the three ships set to debut in the next two years- Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, and Disney Adventure. Disney Cruise Line is experiencing unprecedented growth with recent D23 announcements revealing the fleet will expand to 13 ships by 2031.

The float features favorite characters like Captain Mickey and Minnie Mouse plus an arrangement of characters that are meant to represent the experiences on the Disney Treasure! These characters include Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, Miguel, and Moana which all embody the spirit of adventure that Disney Treasure will bring to life. A musical number will also be featured, fitting since Disney Cruise Line is known for its Broadway style shows, which will bring together classic favorites like “Beauty and the Beast” with Pixar hits like “Coco.” The finale builds up to the new Disney Treasure anthem called “Live the Adventure.”

Disney has been part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade since 1934 with the debut of their first Mickey Mouse balloon. Since then Disney has been represented with various balloons of popular characters with their first major float being featured in 1969.

Disney Parks had their first parade float introduced in 1971 with the introduction of the Disney Castle float paying homage to Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom. The most recent Disney Parks float was in 2005 to celebrate Disneyland's 50th anniversary.

Since then Disney Cruise Line has predominantly been featured with their “Magic Meet the Seas” parade floats since 2021. The first float originally celebrated the maiden voyage of the Disney Wish in 2021 and then continued featuring the Disney Wish in 2022. This same float is being rethemed to now celebrate the Disney Treasure's maiden voyage.
