What's Included in a Disney World Vacation Package
When your Disney World vacation is being booked, you have the option to choose what’s included in your package. To be considered a vacation package, it needs to minimally include a stay at one of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels as well as theme park tickets.
Your choice of theme park ticket will depend on how much you’d like to include in your day. With the different ticket options, you will be able to choose how many theme parks you go to in a single day and if you’d like to add on additional activities. These additional activities include visiting the water parks, golf courses, miniature golf courses, and more! Once your tickets have been selected, you will have the option to add on even more to your package! Available add-ons are a Dining Plan, Memory Maker, Ground Transportation, and Travel Protection.
Dining plans were not an available option from March 2020 to January of this year. However, as of January 9th, 2024, dining plans have returned to Walt Disney World! There are two dining plans that you will be able to choose from. The plans slightly differ based on what restaurants are included and what types of meals are available. You will be able to choose which one suits your wants and needs the best!
Memory Maker is the perfect add-on if you love to capture special moments and memories while you’re on vacation. When you add Memory Maker to your package, you’ll have complete access to all of the pictures that you have taken around Walt Disney World. This includes pictures taken by Disney PhotoPass photographers as well as attraction photos! You will also have access to fun Disney PhotoPass lenses!
The Ground Transportation option is available for those who are interested in renting a vehicle from Alamo. While this can be a beneficial option to get you to and from Walt Disney World, you may find it to be an unnecessary expense if you don’t plan on leaving Disney during your trip. Disney Transportation is a complementary part of your Disney World vacation. There are multiple transportation systems that will take you from your resort directly to and from the theme parks and other locations around Walt Disney World Resort for free!
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
Walt Disney World has many resorts to choose from for an all inclusive Disney World package. These resorts are split into three categories: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. When staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you will have many recreational options available to you as well as standard amenities.
No matter which resort you stay at, you will always receive complimentary parking, Disney bus transportation, Early Theme Park Entry, Wi-Fi, toiletries, pool access, shopping, housekeeping, mail service, currency exchange, and ATM access. Additional offerings are available depending on location. Let’s take a look!
Value Resorts
Walt Disney World Value Resort options include:
- All-Star Movies Resort
- All-Star Music Resort
- All-Star Sports Resort
- Art of Animation Resort
- Pop Century Resort
Disney Value Resorts are a great option for families. Especially for those who are looking for great Disney theming, extra space, convenience, and to save some money!
Reasons to Stay at a Value Resort
Each Value Resort has gone the extra mile to make you feel like you’ve stepped right into a Disney movie! Shrink down to the size of a toy and walk right into Andy’s room at All-Star Movies Resort, where you’ll see familiar faces like Buzz, Woody, and Bo Peep! Get your kicks on Route 66 at Art of Animation, where you’ll see Lightning McQueen, Mater, and more of your favorites from Radiator Springs! No matter which Value Resort you stay at, you won’t be disappointed with the Disney immersion.
When you stay at one of the Family Suites, you can sleep up to 6 Guests! This is such a great option for larger families. Family Suites include 1 Queen Bed, 1 Double-size Sleeper Sofa, and 1 Double-size table bed. During the day, you will have a spacious living quarter. There are also two bathrooms in the family suites which makes it easy for everyone to get ready for the day.
Family Suites are available at both Art of Animation and All-Star Music Resort. My travel party has stayed at all of the Family Suites at Art of Animation and absolutely love this option. My husband and I, our two children, and my parents comfortably share these suites. We also love that we don’t have to stay in two separate rooms!
You will find additional transportation convenience at Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation. Both of these resorts are on the Skyliner route which makes getting to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios very easy.
Perhaps the biggest perk of a Disney Value Resort is the price. If you’re vacationing on a budget, or simply looking to not spend a lot on your Disney World hotel, then the Value Resorts are probably the best option for you!
Moderate Resorts
Walt Disney World Moderate Resort options include:
- The Cabins at Fort Wilderness
- Caribbean Beach Resort
- Coronado Springs Resort
- Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
- Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
Moderate Resorts are a fantastic option for those who are looking for a little more than what the Value Resorts have to offer, but they don’t want to pay the price to stay at a Deluxe Resort. For a lot of Guests, Disney’s Moderate Resorts are “just right”. When you stay at one of these resorts, you can enjoy additional perks such as better dining options, more recreational activities, and a slight advance on amenities. While Moderate Resorts are a bit more expensive than Value Resorts, they are much more affordable than Disney’s Deluxe Resorts.
Reasons to Stay at a Moderate Resort
When you’re ready to eat, you have more options available to you at a Moderate Resort. At Value Resorts, you’ll find cafeteria-style dining halls with standard quick-service meals available. While these dining areas are great and tend to have something for everyone, it's sometimes nice to have other options available. Perhaps you’d like more exotic food options or maybe you’d like a chance to sit down and relax while your meal is prepared and served to you. At Moderate Resorts, you have this option! They all have at least one full-service restaurant where you can enjoy a change of pace with your meals.
If you’re planning on taking a day off from the parks, you’ll have plenty of recreational options to fill your day with at Moderate Resorts. While all Disney Resorts hotels have pools on property, Moderate Resorts are the first resort category where you’ll start to see waterslides, water play areas for kids, and whirlpool spas. You won’t want to miss out on the Doubloon Lagoon at Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter! With its heavy Mardi Gras theming and sea serpent slide, you’ll have a great day relaxing at the pool.
Additional recreation options also become available at Disney’s Moderate Resorts. Port Orleans Resort – Riverside is a great example of this. Here you’ll find activities available to you such as Horse Drawn Excursions, Bike Rentals, Surrey Bike Rentals, and Fishing!
The amenities that you’ll find at Moderate Resorts are slightly more advanced than at Value Resorts. For starters, the standard rooms are bigger at Moderate Resorts and give you a bit more space to spread out. Another advancement are the transportation options that are available. While all Disney Resort hotels are provided with bus transportation, and the Skyliner is available to resorts in all three resort categories, Moderate Resorts are the first hotel tier where water transportation is available. You can hop on a water taxi at Port Orleans Resort (Riverside and French Quarter) and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. Depending on where you depart, water transportation is available to Disney Springs, Magic Kingdom, and even other resorts!
Deluxe Resorts
Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort options include:
- Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Beach Club Resort
- BoardWalk Inn
- Contemporary Resort
- Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Old Key West Resort
- Polynesian Village Resort
- Riviera Resort
- Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- Wilderness Lodge
- Yacht Club Resort
The most luxurious Walt Disney World Resort hotels will be found in the Deluxe Resort category. These resort hotels are gorgeously designed with artistic theming and intricate details. If you’re looking for superior dining options, easy theme park access, and top-tier amenities, then you’re in the right place. In order to stay at a resort hotel with all of these perks, you will be paying a much higher price. However, if price is a non-issue, then a Deluxe Resort is a great option!
Reasons to Stay at a Deluxe Resort
While the Value Resorts are heavily themed with their big statues and bright colors, the Deluxe resorts are themed in a way that transports you to a new place. Take, for example, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. As soon as you arrive, you’ll be greeted with a happy “Aloha!” and have a Hawaiian lei placed around your neck. That’s just the beginning! With its white sand beach, swaying palm trees, Moana themed rooms, and island decor, you’ll feel like you’re right in the South Pacific!
Dining options are of the highest quality at Deluxe Resorts. While Value Resorts only have quick-service options and Moderate Resorts have one full-service restaurant, Deluxe Resorts have multiple full-service restaurants. The Deluxe Resorts are also where you’ll find Signature/Fine Dining Restaurants as well as Character Dining. Don’t miss out on Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort. This rooftop restaurant will provide you with an outstanding character experience at breakfast time and top of the line French and Italian Cuisine at dinner time.
Complimentary transportation is provided at all of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, but what if you were close enough to walk directly to one of the theme parks? Deluxe Resorts have that type of location! Unfortunately, there is no walking path to Animal Kingdom from any of the resorts. However, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios all have resorts that are connected to them via walkways. If you’re staying at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you can walk to Magic Kingdom in as little as 10 minutes! Not only that, you’re so close that you can see great views of this park from the resort and even watch the firework show!
Another reason to stay at a Deluxe Resort is for their amenities. With this highest tier of resort hotels, we see yet another form of transportation. Deluxe Resorts are the only ones that are connected to the Walt Disney World monorail. The Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Resort and Grand Floridian Resort and Spa are all connected via monorail. The monorail also gives these resorts direct access to both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.
More amenities at the Deluxe Resorts include even bigger rooms, fitness centers, room service, Extended Evening Hours, and Club Level services as part of your all inclusive Disney World package.
Transportation
As I mentioned earlier, Disney Transportation comes included in your Walt Disney World vacation package. The best part is, it's absolutely free! Complimentary transportation is available all throughout Walt Disney World as part of your all inclusive Disney World package. As a Guest staying at a Walt Disney Resort hotel, these transportation options will be available to take you to the theme parks, Disney Springs, the water parks, and other Disney Resorts. This is a great part of the all inclusive Disney World package.
Buses
Buses are the most common form of transportation at Disney World. This is the only form of transportation that travels from every resort to all of the theme parks, both water parks and Disney Springs. It is also the most reliable form of transportation. While other transportation options may have the perk of being more convenient or relaxing, they may not be running during certain weather conditions.
Skyliner
The Skyliner is Disney’s newest form of transportation. It is a gondola system that connects multiple resorts to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. I personally love the Skyliner. In my opinion, it is the most convenient form of transportation and it also feels much quicker than others. While it doesn’t actually move at a speedy pace (reaching about 11 mph), the fact that it is continuously moving helps.
With the Skyliner, you don’t usually have long waits to get on and you don’t ever have to wait for the next one to arrive like you do for buses, boats, and the monorail. It is also nice that you always have a seat. You’re never jam packed into them and you don’t even have to fold strollers down! It’s perfect for early in the morning when everyone is eager to go and also late in the evening when your group is tired and doesn’t want to take more steps than necessary.
Walt Disney Resort hotels with Skyliner access are:
- Art of Animation Resort
- Caribbean Beach Resort
- Pop Century Resort
- Riviera Resort
- BoardWalk Inn
- Yacht Club Resort
- Beach Club Resort
Monorail
The Monorail provides convenient access to EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, and the Transportation and Ticket Center. Three resorts have direct access to the monorail. These resorts are the Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Village Resort, and Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. For fun, Guests also often use the monorail for drink or food crawls around these resorts.
Water Taxis
Water taxis are a relaxing way to get around Walt Disney World. Depending on which resort you’re at, you may have access to Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Disney Springs via water taxi.
Magic Kingdom Transportation:
- Fort Wilderness Resort
- Grand Floridian Resort
- Polynesian Village Resort
- Wilderness Lodge
EPCOT and Hollywood Studios Transportation:
- BoardWalk Inn
- Beach Club Resort
- Yacht Club Resort
Disney Springs Transportation:
- Old Key West Resort
- Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa
- Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
- Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
Transportation Between Each Other :
- Contemporary Resort
- Fort Wilderness Resort
- Wilderness Lodge

Ride Add-Ons
As you can see, there are so many things to enjoy at each park. It's wonderful that they are all included in the price of a ticket! You also have the option to pay an additional price to maximize your day. A new feature called Genie+ was introduced to Disney World in 2021. This is a newly established Fast Pass system for the parks which allows you to get priority placement in line for certain rides and attractions.
Disney Genie+
Genie+ is a feature that can be found on the My Disney Experience app. The My Disney Experience app is the app that you will be using for many parts of your Disney World vacation including online check-in to your resort, Mobile Ordering for food, you can use it as a room key, a way to scan your theme park tickets for entrance into the park, and so much more.
A free version of Genie also exists on the My Disney Experience app. This free version is simply on the app to help you plan your day. Genie will show you the current wait times for each experience and give you suggestions on what you could do next. The suggestions are made based on your selected interests as well as the wait times.
Genie+ is a paid service that allows you to skip the regular stand-by line at certain rides and attractions. The priority lines for rides are now called Lightning Lanes (rather than a FastPass). You will only be able to make Lightning Lane selections for those in your group who have Genie+. Therefore, you will need to purchase Genie+ for each person in your group who plans to enjoy the rides and attractions.
The price of Genie+ varies each day. We’ve seen the price vary from $15 per person, per day all the way up to $35 per person, per day. The prices are generally based on crowd levels and the time of year. For example, you can expect the price of Genie+ to be higher around holidays and other busy times.
While Disney’s website states that Genie+ will allow you to enter about 2-3 attractions per day using Lightning Lanes, I have found this to be a VERY low estimate. I have used Genie+ on numerous occasions for parties of 2-6 people and we are able to get through almost every attraction at the park that we are at each day. Granted, this will vary depending on how you spend your days at the park. We are very much a Park Open to Park Close type of family and are constantly on the go. I also utilize a combination of short stand-by lines, Genie+, and Individual Lightning Lanes.
Individual Lightning Lane
Individual Lightning Lanes are an extension of the Genie+ service. When you pay for an Individual Lightning Lane, you're paying to skip the stand-by line of one specific ride. This means that you will pay a set price, per rider, to ride that one specific ride. These are most commonly used for the newest and most popular rides and attractions at each park.
Currently, you DO NOT have to buy Genie+ in order to purchase Individual Lightning Lanes. You can, however, utilize both services if you would like to!
Magic Kingdom Individual Lightning Lanes:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- TRON Lightcycle / Run
EPCOT Individual Lightning Lane:
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Hollywood Studios Individual Lightning Lane:
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Animal Kingdom Individual Lightning Lane:
- Avatar Flight of Passage

Memory Maker
With Disney’s Memory Maker, you’ll be able to keep all of the magic that’s captured on your vacation for an all inclusive Disney World package! With the price of Memory Maker, you will have unlimited downloads of all of the pictures and videos taken on your trip. This includes attraction photos as well as pictures taken by Disney PhotoPass Photographers!
Attraction Photos are available at the following locations:
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- DINOSAUR
- Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
- Frozen Ever After
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Haunted Mansion
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Video also available)
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Space Mountain
- Test Track
- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Video also available)
- TRON Lightcycle / Run (Video also available)
You’ll find Disney PhotoPass Photographers throughout all four theme parks, Disney Springs, the water parks, and select resorts. Most commonly you’ll find them in front of the theme park icons (Cinderella's Castle at Magic Kingdom, Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios, Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, and the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom). However, they’re available in other locations as well! On the My Disney Experience app, you can find a list of all locations where a PhotoPass Photographer is available to take your picture.
The Disney photographers are there to capture the special moments. Not only will they get great posed photos of you in the theme parks, they’ll also be there for the Character Meet and Greets and interactive experiences such as Enchanted Tales with Belle and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. A private photo session is also available!
This private photo session is called Capture Your Moment. With a Capture Your Moment session, you will have 20 minutes in the theme park of your choice with a Disney PhotoPass photographer. This is a perfect idea if you’re celebrating something special such as an engagement, anniversary, birthday, family reunion, and more! You can even book one of these sessions just for fun. If you think you want more time, you can book two Capture Your Moment sessions. This will give you 40 minutes with your PhotoPass photographer. Capture Your Moment sessions are $99 for each 20 minute session. You will then be able to purchase the pictures that you want. Luckily, when you have Memory Maker included in your vacation package, all of the pictures that are taken during the Capture Your Moment session will be yours at no additional cost!
Memory Maker can be added to your vacation package for $185. This price covers ALL of the pictures and videos taken on your trip. You will have unlimited downloads of these photos and videos for 30 days. Please note that this is an Advance Purchase price. If you don't choose to add Memory Maker to your vacation package, but decide during or after your trip that you want it, you're still able to purchase it! However, the price will then go up to $210. There is also an option to purchase only one day of Memory Maker for $75.
What Else is Included in a Disney World Trip?
We’ve already gone over so much that comes standard with a Walt Disney World vacation package. What else could you possibly get during your Disney vacation for an all inclusive Disney World package? One thing we haven’t discussed yet, is Disney Springs! When you’re at Disney World, you have free access to Disney Springs. This is the shopping, dining, and entertainment district of Walt Disney World. This is a great place to spend the day exploring shops, trying new bites, and enjoying live music.
You can also check out my article, Free Things to Do at Walt Disney World, to find out about even more that's available with your Disney World vacation!
Is there an all-inclusive Disney World Package?
Let’s circle back now to the initial question: Is there an all-inclusive Disney World vacation package? I think it’s safe to say that the answer is, YES! If you opt to include your resort stay, tickets, and a dining plan in your vacation package, then your Disney vacation is most definitely all-inclusive. As we discussed, there is even more that you can add to your package than just the essentials for an all inclusive Disney World package.
Of course, there will always be available add-ons and additional experiences that you have the option to pay for during your trip. Nonetheless, your vacation package can be formed to include all of your vacation essentials and you would not need to buy anything extra in order to fully experience Walt Disney World and have a great time.
Even though you can form an all-inclusive Disney vacation package, make sure that you don't forget to budget for the items that aren't part of your package price. Something to consider is transportation. While I did talk about how transportation at Disney World is free, you will need to think about how you're getting to Orlando. Will you be driving or flying? If you are flying, how will you get from the airport to your Disney resort?
Another thing to think about is Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. While you used to be able to add Genie+ to your vacation package, that's no longer an option for Walt Disney World. This is because the prices vary depending on the day and which park you're visiting. Therefore, if you're planning on using either (or both!) of these services, it's a good idea to have that money budgeted for ahead of time.
