Walt Disney World has a number of chain hotels on property that get access to different theme park perks even though they are not Disney-owned. There is one thing about this hotel that makes it stand out far above even the top-tier deluxe Disney resorts.
I recently stayed at one of these Disney Springs-area hotels that also gives guests complimentary breakfast and even a light dinner option. The hotel was new, clean, comfortable, and impressed me across the board. At Mickey Visit we are constantly trying different Disney offerings to bring you the latest reviews and news.

Review of Hotel Near Disney Springs
During a recent Walt Disney World trip, I stayed at the Drury Plaza Hotel in the Disney Springs area. This is an official Walt Disney World Resort Hotel which means that it gets access to great perks including Early Theme Park Entry. Guests of the hotel can access Walt Disney World theme parks 30 minutes before they officially open. There is also bus transportation to the theme parks and water parks.

The hotel also offers complimentary hot breakfast and an evening kickback. The kickback was referred to me as dinner by the front desk. Even with all of these amenities, there is NO RESORT FEE which is rare for non-Disney hotels in this area. It demonstrates the commitment of the hotel to delivering a valuable product at fair prices.
This hotel was formerly the Best Western. This tower is a combination of a completely renovated existing tower and brand new tower. Altogether, the hotel has 604 rooms and feels completely new. The lobby is large and modern with a bar area. There is also a modern fitness center on property.
The Drury Plaza Hotel is located a half mile from Disney Springs. Outside the main lobby is a large pool area, detailed more below.
While we always recommend our travel partner, Get Away Today, for discount Disney World tickets and hotels, they don't offer the Drury Plaza hotel on sale right now.
I always try and share the best deals available. Our friends at MouseSavers do have a great discount on the hotel right now just for their readers. You can save the most on a stay here by booking the Drury Plaza hotel via their MouseSavers page. When booking the Drury Plaza via MouseSavers, you will receive 15% off the best available fully refundable/changeable rate at the time of booking on the room type you choose. In addition, MouseSavers guests receive a discounted parking fee of $15/night + tax! (Regularly $25/night + tax.) Inside the Room
The room that we stayed in was clean and perfectly set up for a family vacation. The rooms have a sink separated from the bathroom, so that multiple people can get ready at once.
Our two queen room also had a balcony with sliding doors, which is a nice addition that makes the room feel more spacious.
There are multiple different room types. Some rooms have balconies and one side of the hotel has fireworks views. I could see fireworks out over EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom in the evening. They feel far closer in person than the photo can capture.
The room also had a microwave and refrigerator for your use along with a small coffee maker. There is also a small safe.
Double queen rooms sleep up to five people. One-bedroom suites sleep up to six people and include a separate living room with pull-out sleeper. King rooms sleep up to three people. There are rollaway beds for only $10 per night and complimentary Pack ’n Plays available by request.
Drury Plaza Hotel Transportation
Unlike other hotels near Disney World with shuttles that rely on outside, shared bus transportation, the Drury has its own fleet of branded buses that run regularly to the theme parks.
The buses run at set times. You can see the times outlined in the schedule below. If you are able to follow this more rigid schedule you should be able to take advantage of the shuttle just fine for your park days. Buses run 90 minutes before and after park opening. The Magic Kingdom and EPCOT buses run on the hour and the Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios on the half hour. There are also additional buses added for special events like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and runDisney events.
Frankly, the rigid nature of the schedule is the biggest drawback for these hotels that are on Disney property but not connected to the transportation system. You are so close, but have to rely on far fewer buses throughout the day. If you can plan your day around these, you'll get the great benefits of this hotel.
The other downside in transportation here is that the buses to Magic Kingdom run to the Transportation and Ticket Center, where you have to transfer to a Monorail or ferry to get to the Magic Kingdom. Only buses from the Walt Disney World Resorts and Minnie Vans get to drop off directly at the Magic Kingdom.
If you end up needing to get somewhere outside of the bus schedule, using rideshare is very affordable around Walt Disney World. You could also consider renting a car for your Disney World trip.

Best Thing About Staying at Drury Plaza Orlando
One of my least favorite things about staying at a Disney-owned Walt Disney World Resort hotels is that almost every single breakfast place that I have tried, besides the sit-down options, has been bland and boring. It’s always some combination of soggy tater tots and eggs that feel microwaved. They’re even worse than the Starbucks breakfast sandwiches.
The Drury Plaza's INCLUDED breakfast blows anything available at any quick service restaurant on property out of the water. In contrast to the Disney hotels, this breakfast was fantastic.
Each morning from 6 am to 10 am, there was a full spread of great food options. Some things were there each day and others switched around. The Mickey Mouse waffle station, oatmeal, fruit (whole bananas, oranges, and apples), different bread options, hard boiled eggs, and large set of drink options was there every day.
In addition they rotated through a variety of egg and other hot food dishes including feta and spinach egg scramble, biscuits and gravy, and Denver omelette scramble. Delicious! The staff here was also fantastic and this was a great way to start every single day.
There was one woman on the staff wearing a different set of Minnie Mouse ears each day. So cute! She was so helpful and a bright ray of sunshine. This offering really sets the Drury Plaza apart and is a key reason that I will consider the Drury Plaza again in the future.
The hotel also has a number of different restaurant and food options so that you don’t need to venture out again after getting back from the theme parks if you don’t want to. That includes the nightly kickback option that can basically serve as a dinner for the entire family. On the arrival night, they were serving chicken and pasta. Some other examples of dinners include penne pasta with pesto, BBQ sliders, soup, and salads. The Kickback runs from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm each night.
Other restaurants include a Pizza Hut, Lakeside Bar + Grill, and Kitchen + Bar in the Lobby. There is also free popcorn and soda available from 4 pm to 8 pm each night.
Add up the savings with dinners and breakfasts and there is a real value here for families. This is especially good for families who won’t make it late in the evening in the theme parks.
Pool and Arcade at Drury Plaza Orlando
There is a large pool area with a splash pad and big hot tub. We could see this pool area from our room. It was full of people throughout the day. I ran into a family with their son in a bathing suit in the elevator at 8 am. What a good way to vacation. This is a large saltwater pool that is open from 9 am to 10 pm.
There’s also an arcade just off the lobby that is a great escape for kids from the heat of the Florida day.
The Drury Plaza Hotel at Walt Disney World really impressed me. The cleanliness and in-room offerings were on the same level as a Disney hotel, and I was very comfortable the entire stay. Your key consideration is if you can take advantage of the fantastic complimentary food offerings and a more rigid transportation schedule.
This stay left me impressed with Drury as a hotel brand. I look forward to revisiting this hotel for a future stay and trying out another Drury Hotel when it’s an option around the country. Have you ever stayed in a Drury Hotel?
