Disney World Ride Announced for Months Long Closure Starting in Early 2025

The beginning of the year is often a popular time for ride refurbishments at Walt Disney World since this is often considered a slower time of the year.

For this newly announced ride closure, this is around the same time as those slower dates of the year we track on our Walt Disney World crowd calendar.

This newly announced ride closure joins more recent ones announced for the beginning of 2025 and below we will share the dates of this most recent Disney World closure announced.

At Magic Kingdom, Astro Orbiter will be closing on January 13, 2025. According to Scott Gustin on X, this is a multi-month long refurbishment and will reopen in summer 2025.

While Astro Orbiter might not be the most popular attraction in Tomorrowland, this ride helps balance the crowds in this area of the park and with such a long closure this will increase wait times at other rides in the park. Less open rides means crowds have less places to disperse. But this is why Disney plans these refurbishments at the start of the year when most of the peak travel has just been completed once the holidays come to a close.

This attraction joins a growing list of ride refurbishments scheduled for early 2025 like the recently announced Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros which will also close for a few months at the start of the year.
