Among the 11 countries represented in EPCOT‘s World Showcase, there are a lot of food options to consider, each with its own unique and authentic palette. When it’s time for a snack, guests with a sweet tooth can find a fun choice in an unsuspecting storefront in the back alley of the France Pavilion.
At this unique dessert shop, Disney cast members press your ice cream sandwich in front of you! In this story, we’ll show you their process and share why we come back to this simultaneously hot-and-cold snack again and again. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including a ton of new Halloween menu items across Disney World and Christmas party ticket prices for Disney World’s 2026 season.

L’Artisan des Glaces at EPCOT
In the back corner of the France Pavilion at EPCOT, you’ll find L’Artisan des Glaces, an ice cream shop. If you’re approaching France with the World Showcase Lagoon behind you, this alleyway will be on the far left side of the pavilion. I always get excited walking back here thinking about my favorite menu item that I’m about to enjoy!

The small interior has a charming aesthetic. There is no seating inside, but we’ll get to that later. Guests order at the cash registers first, then get to see the cast members prepare their order.
The different ice cream and sorbet flavors are in a large display case and also labeled on the wall. Based on the cut-out format of this sign, it seems like flavors may rotate occasionally.

The sorbet flavors were:

After I ordered my Croque Glacé, the cast member prepared the sandwich right in front of me. It begins with an unassuming homemade brioche bun.
Next, the cast member added a scoop of ice cream. I chose coffee flavor, since I had a late night at Disney After Hours ahead of me. The cast member added caramel sauce to the ice cream and to the separate bun, the latter in the shape of Mickey!
Then they place the top bun over the ice cream scoop and close the press machine for a few seconds. This warms and crisps the brioche bun, but the ice cream stays cold inside the bread.
This is what the finished sandwich looks like. It seems like just an ordinary piece of bread …
… but there’s ice cream on the inside! I love the combination of the warm bread and the cold ice cream.
The sandwich gets messy fast, so make sure you grab plenty of napkins.
The one downside of L’Artisan de Glaces is that it doesn’t have a dedicated seating area. Instead, guests have to go next door to the shared dining space that also serves Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie. This area can get busy and hectic, and you may need to wait a few minutes for a table to become available. See our review of Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie here.
EPCOT’s France Pavilion is also home to several table service restaurants. See our review of La Crêperie de Paris.
