Some of the future attractions coming will immerse guests in the worlds of emerging popular franchises. Others will create new ways to encounter legacy characters that have endured for generations.
Disney has announced 22 new attractions as part of theme park expansions bringing new restaurants, rides, and shopping to parks around the world. Let’s take a look at all of them. Disney Expanding Theme Parks at Unprecedented Scale
Disney theme park destinations in California, Florida, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai are preparing for exciting new rides featuring characters from across the portfolios of Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm.
In the near future, Disney theme park guests will journey to the Land of the Dead with Miguel from Coco and fix glitchy video game coding with Wreck-It Ralph, among other heroic adventures. We detail all of these experiences below.

These investments amount to massive expansions of existing theme parks. Look no further than Magic Kingdom, pictured above, with a huge construction site comprising a significant portion of its real estate.
This growth is being spearheaded by new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro and new Disney Parks Chairman Thomas Mazloum, along with newly appointed leadership at individual park destinations. This includes new Disneyland President Jill Estorino, who has already influenced the future of major projects, and new Walt Disney World President Joe Schott, who is listening to guest feedback in recent changes.

Maleficent Roller Coaster
A roller coaster starring Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty is coming to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida as part of a new area called Villains Land.
Villains Land will be an entire section of Magic Kingdom dedicated to classic antagonists of Walt Disney Animation Studios films, including the Mistress of All Evil herself, Maleficent. The evil fairy’s outdoor high-thrill roller coaster will twist and turn through her fortress, showing off movements that have never been part of a Disney coaster before.
Villains Land will also include a dark ride starring many other Disney Villains. We’ll detail this attraction later in this story.
Mickey Visit predicts the Maleficent roller coaster will open in 2030 at the earliest.
Cars Ridge Run Rally
Cars Ridge Run Rally is coming to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World as part of a new area in Frontierland called Piston Peak National Park.
This outdoor thrill ride set within the world of Pixar’s Cars will mimic the feeling of off-road driving as it traverses snowy mountains and bumpy dirt roads, passing scenic vistas along the way.
Piston Peak National Park will also include a family-friendly ride, which we discuss below.
Mickey Visit predicts Cars Ridge Run Rally will open in 2029.
Coco Ride
A new boat ride based on Coco is coming to Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort.
This indoor ride won’t have a height requirement, so the whole family can enjoy it together. Riders will join the Riveras as they remember some of their family’s most cherished memories, including Miguel’s journey to the Land of the Dead.
Mickey Visit predicts the Coco boat ride will open in 2029.
Monstropolis Roller Coaster
A suspended roller coaster is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World as part of the park’s new Monstropolis land.
The indoor coaster will take riders on a chase through the Monsters, Inc. factory’s door vault, just like at the end of the movie. Mike Wazowski hopes riders can help supply the city with energy by laughing and screaming at the same time.
Mickey Visit predicts the Monstropolis roller coaster will open in 2028.
Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto
Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World as part of a new land called Tropical Americas.
Guests will enter the Madrigals’ Casita from Encanto, where the family is preparing for a celebration to honor Antonio receiving his gift of talking to animals. There will be no height requirement, so guests of all ages can ride.
Tropical Americas will also feature an Indiana Jones ride and a new carousel, both of which we detail below.
Disney hasn’t mentioned an opening date when discussing Tropical Americas recently, but previously publicized a 2027 opening.
The Lion King Log Flume
A log flume based on The Lion King is coming to Disney Adventure World at Disneyland Paris as part of a new land celebrating the classic 1994 movie.
Created in the style of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Splash Mountain at other Disney theme parks, this log ride will depict characters and songs from The Lion King with elaborate indoor scenes and will culminate in a thrilling outdoor drop.
Disney has not announced an opening timeframe for the Lion King log flume, but construction is underway.
Journey Into Imagination Overhaul
An overhauled version of Journey Into Imagination With Figment is coming to EPCOT at Walt Disney World.
The transformation will reinstate Dreamfinder, a beloved, kindly, top-hat-wearing expert on the subject of imagination, who was part of the original 1983 version of the ride and has been absent for decades. The reimagining will also simplify the ride’s title back to its original name, Journey Into Imagination.
Mickey Visit predicts the Journey Into Imagination transformation will happen in 2028.
Disney Villains Dark Ride
A dark ride starring a who’s who of Disney Villains favorites is coming to Magic Kingdom as part of the new Villains Land.
On what is expected to be a slow-moving indoor attraction, riders will enter the catacombs of the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and then be transported into the Magic Mirror’s Mirror Realm. There, they’ll see visions of favorite Disney Villains, including Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Doctor Facilier, Scar, and Ursula.
Mickey Visit predicts the Disney Villains dark ride will open in 2030 at the earliest.
Mystery Tomorrowland Ride(s)
An overhaul of Tomorrowland is coming to Disneyland Park in California.
Imagineers confirmed with Mickey Visit that the transformation will include new attractions, not just refreshes of existing rides. Specifics are secret for now and may still be in the process of being decided, as the project is very early in development. All of Tomorrowland remains open and unchanged for the time being.
Mickey Visit predicts elements of the Tomorrowland reimagining will begin to open in 2030.
Avengers Drop Tower
A drop tower ride starring Marvel superheroes is coming to Hong Kong Disneyland.
Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Thor will join riders as they drop and lift through portals into the settings of Marvel stories, like Wakanda and Asgard.
Disney has not announced an opening timeline for the Avengers drop tower ride.
El Carrusel de los Animalitos
El Carrusel de los Animalitos is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom as part of the Tropical Americas project.
This carousel will depict 22 favorite Disney animated characters as adorable carvings. The list of animal steeds includes popular critters like Heihei from Moana, as well as obscure selections like Heimlich from A Bug’s Life.
El Carrusel de los Animalitos will open in 2027.
Space Mountain: Earthrise
Space Mountain: Earthrise is coming to Tokyo Disneyland.
This completely new roller coaster was built from the ground up as the next generation of the park’s classic Space Mountain ride. The former version of Space Mountain was torn down. It will be housed in a new Space Mountain exterior slightly resembling its predecessor, but introducing a new design with more curves. On this iteration of Space Mountain, riders will “see our connection to our planet and gain a new perspective for how special it is in all the universe.”
Space Mountain: Earthrise will open in 2027.
Avengers Infinity Defense
Avengers Infinity Defense is coming to Disney California Adventure as part of an expansion of Avengers Campus.
Guests will be the Avengers’ newest recruits, traveling through huge physical sets and encountering screen-based media in a battle against Thanos. An all-star roster of Marvel actors will reprise their roles as their signature superheroes for this attraction.
Avengers: Infinity Defense will open in 2028.
Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue
Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue is coming to Tokyo Disneyland.
Set in the world of Wreck-It Ralph, this ride is a revamp of the former Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, which closed in 2024. Slow-moving ride vehicles will take guests into the Sugar Rush video game, where they’ll help Ralph and Vanellope fix glitches in the game’s coding.
Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue will open in spring 2027.
Avatar Sequels Ride
A new land based on the Avatar movies is coming to Disney California Adventure.
The marquee attraction of this area will be a boat ride with indoor and outdoor scenes that introduce riders to the vast flora and fauna of Pandora, equal parts awe-inspiring and dangerous.
Mickey Visit predicts the new Avatar ride will open in 2031 at the earliest.
Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent
Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom as part of the new Tropical Americas land.
This attraction will be an overhaul of the former DINOSAUR ride, which closed in 2026. Boarding six-person Jeeps, guests will join Indiana Jones as he ventures into the bumpy grounds inside a Mayan temple and opens a passage to the Underworld, ultimately coming face to face with the terrifying Tsukán, pictured above.
Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent will open in 2027.
Stark Flight Lab
Stark Flight Lab is coming to Disney California Adventure as part of the Avengers Campus expansion.
Guests will sit in groups of two. Each group will be picked up by its own giant robotic arm and flung through the air to simulate the flight patterns of superheroes. Riders can experience three variations of the experience: one starring Captain Marvel, another with Captain America, and another with Iron Man.
Stark Flight Lab will open in 2028.
Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along
Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along is coming to Magic Kingdom as part of the new Piston Peak National Park area.
This outdoor, family-friendly ride will complement the more thrilling Cars Ridge Run Rally to add some variety to Piston Peak. Miss Fritter, the demolition derby school bus from Cars 3, will lead riders in a spinning derby of their own.

Spider-Man Roller Coaster
A new Spider-Man roller coaster is coming to Shanghai Disneyland as part of an entire Spider-Man land.
The coaster will be mostly outdoors. Its story involves giant Spider-Bots running amok, and Spider-Man saving the day from peril.
Disney has not announced an opening timeline for the Spider-Man coaster, but the track has been completely assembled.
Spaceship Earth Overhaul
An overhaul of Spaceship Earth is coming to EPCOT.
This classic ride inside the park’s geodesic sphere has always been emblematic of EPCOT’s purpose to educate through entertainment, and that will continue in the new version. An updated script will swap the ride’s current focus on human communication for a new lens of human connection, taking the attraction’s sweeping history of humanity into the internet age.
Mickey Visit predicts the Spaceship Earth updates will take place in 2028.
Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings
Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings is coming to Disney Adventure World.
This ride will add some Pixar flair to a traditional swings ride. The actual ride experience is similar to swings attractions available at many theme parks and amusement parks. Within the story, though, guests are earning their Aviation Badge in the Wilderness Explorers program with Russell from the Pixar movie Up.
Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings will open in 2027.
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is being reimagined at Magic Kingdom.
This 20-minute Audio-Animatronics show first debuted at the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair. It takes riders through decades of progress in home technology, with the auditorium slowly rotating into each successive scene. The former version, last updated in 1993, closed in 2026. The reimagined version will change every scene into more recent decades, and a new introduction scene will debut an Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney.
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress will reopen in late spring 2027.
Beyond Rides: Restaurants, Hotels, Shows, and Cruise Ships
In addition to all the rides we listed, Disney has a lot more in the works for other types of attractions. This is especially true for projects that encompass entirely new lands, which offer different styles of experiences to round out their offerings.
Next-level dining experiences will accompany many of the future rides, including Harryhausen’s, pictured above, coming to Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and recreating the sushi restaurant from Monsters, Inc. See 11 new restaurants coming to Disney theme parks. Elsewhere in the land, Welcome to Monstropolis will be a theater show with Audio-Animatronics figures, screen-based media, and illusions.
New and returning live entertainment is also coming to the parks, including a comeback for Disneyland’s daytime parade.
One of the most ambitious developments on Disney’s slate is its cruise ship expansion. By late 2030, the Disney Cruise Line fleet will add 5 ships, including its first to sail from Tokyo.
