Change to Extended Evening Theme Park Hours at Disney World
Guests staying at deluxe Walt Disney World resorts can attend Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, a two-hour period of extra time in one of the Disney World parks after the park closes for the day to everyone else.

Extended Evening Theme Park Hours do not require a separate ticket beyond regular theme park admission. Note that Extended Evening Theme Park Hours is different from the extra-charge Disney After Hours parties.
Extended Evening Theme Park Hours typically happen on Mondays and Wednesdays. For most of 2026 so far, Monday’s slot has been for EPCOT, and Wednesday’s slot has gone to Magic Kingdom.
Now that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is underway at Magic Kingdom multiple late nights every week, the schedule for Extended Evening Theme Park Hours is slightly shifting.
Wednesday slots for Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, usually allotted to Magic Kingdom, are changing to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on some dates and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on others. Magic Kingdom is still offered occasionally. Monday remains as EPCOT’s slot. In an anomaly, one future Extended Evening Theme Park Hours night will happen on a Tuesday. We have the full list below.

Through September 9, Magic Kingdom remains in the mix, but is replaced twice by Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
After September 9, Magic Kingdom’s slot is firmly gone from the calendar, with Disney’s Hollywood Studios replacing it five Wednesdays in a row before Disney’s Animal Kingdom returns, but on a Tuesday, October 20. That night, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close early, at 5:00 PM, so Disney may be trying to balance park availability for guests. As a result of the abnormal Tuesday of Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, there will be no Wednesday event offered that week.
These changes to Extended Evening Theme Park Hours do not affect Early Theme Park Entry. That benefit, open to guests staying at any Disney World hotel, not just deluxe resorts, will continue to take place at every park, every day, 30 minutes before the parks open for other guests.
Disney has not announced park locations for Extended Evening Theme Park Hours beyond October 20 at the time of this writing. We expect Mondays to continue to belong to EPCOT, but the other day of the week could be more unpredictable, trading off between Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Extended Evening Theme Park Hours are especially coveted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Disney World theme park that most often closes earlier than the others. On most days, Animal Kingdom ends its operating day at 6:00 PM, something we see as the park’s biggest problem.
Therefore, compared to the other parks, Extended Evening Theme Park Hours at Animal Kingdom are still pretty early in the evening, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. For contrast, Magic Kingdom’s Extended Evening Theme Park Hours regularly last until 1:00 AM. All the same, Animal Kingdom’s extra time still means staying in the park two hours later than the regular park day, which is a big plus for this park.
Any chance to enjoy Animal Kingdom later than dinnertime is a special occasion, especially on that October 20 date when the sun sets at 6:52 PM. The August 26 and September 2 dates’ Extended Evening Theme Park Hours at Animal Kingdom will still mostly be in daylight, with the sunset happening at 7:54 PM and 7:47 PM, respectively.
Animal Kingdom did attempt later hours about a decade ago as part of a promotional campaign, which saw the park close nightly at 11:00 PM for an entire summer! Those days are long gone, but we hope that will change with the 2027 opening of the new Tropical Americas land.
