Avengers Campus Expansion

Avengers Campus is expanding with two new rides. The land already includes two rides, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission – BREAKOUT! and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, as well as the Pym Test Kitchen quick service restaurant and atmospheric live entertainment starring Marvel superhero characters.
As part of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney revealed new information about the future of its theme parks during a presentation called Horizons: A Carousel of Progress, aka the Disney Experiences Showcase or the “parks panel,” on August 15, 2026. The news includes major updates on the two previously revealed attractions coming to Avengers Campus, titled Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.
Disney shared that both of the new attractions will open in 2028!

They also shared in passing that the walkway between Cars Land and Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure will reopen soon. This is very welcome news, as this is a shortcut that we frequently utilized and has been closed for several months due to the construction.
Avengers Infinity Defense

Avengers Infinity Defense will pit dozens of Marvel superheroes from across the multiverse against King Thanos, a new version of the infamous villain that we haven’t met in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet.
Disney just shared new storyline details for the ride, which begins with a pre-mission briefing from Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani. She tasks recruits with reassembling the Avengers to battle King Thanos. The ride will feature some of the original Avengers actors, including Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.

Guests will sit in 8-person ride vehicles capable of moving through scenes with advanced motion. The scenes around them will unfold with screen-based media and physical sets. Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, says Disney is developing new technology so that the screen imaging adjusts for each rider. Think of The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal Islands of Adventure or Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure at Tokyo DisneySea, and you’ll have an idea of what this will look like.
During D23, Disney shared a preview video of the ride’s development.

Disney gave a new look behind the scenes at the massive physical sets that they are blending with large-scale media scenes.

Here is a look at a pile of rubble from a mid-battle scene, one of the sets in the ride.

Avengers Infinity Defense will travel to familiar locales from Marvel stories, including Wakanda, Asgard, and New York City.

Stark Flight Lab

Stark Flight Lab is the other new ride coming to the Avengers Campus expansion at Disney California Adventure.
Riders will be situated in a two-person seat, which will be picked up by a robotic arm and flung around in the air to simulate the motions of superheroes’ flight patterns.
At D23, Disney revealed that other Avengers talent returning for Stark Flight Lab will include Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.
