New Details Revealed for Avengers Infinity Defense
Avengers Campus, located in Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort, is expanding. The land already includes two rides, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission – BREAKOUT! and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, as well as the Pym Test Kitchen quick service restaurant and atmospheric live entertainment starring Marvel superhero characters.

Avengers Infinity Defense will pit dozens of Marvel superheroes from across the multiverse against King Thanos, a new version of the infamous villain that we haven’t met in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. When originally announcing the experience, Disney described this as an “E-ticket” attraction, meaning that it will be one of the resort’s most advanced, cutting-edge rides.
Not much was previously known about the Avengers Infinity Defense ride system before D23 2026. We now know that guests will sit in 8-person ride vehicles capable of moving through scenes with advanced motion.
A new detail about the ride system for Avengers Infinity Defense was just revealed as part of an interview with Leslie Iwerks, the Academy Award– and Emmy–nominated filmmaker whose latest film, Disney Worldbuilders, is premiering on Disney+ August 20.
She says that in the documentary, “Kevin Feige describes the new attraction being built at Avengers Campus and how the ride system with screens that shift with the guest’s point of view is going to redefine what a themed experience can be.”
The description that the advanced ride system is “going to redefine what a themed experience can be” is interesting, and we’re wondering if they’re preparing to share more during the D23 Expo this week. We already knew that this ride would feature “physical words” along “with a blend of large-scale built environments and immersive media,” or in simpler words, a combination of physical sets and screens.
We had previously mused that based on that description, the ride system of Disney’s new Peter Pan ride in Tokyo DisneySea and other Universal rides may be the same style planned for this new ride. In that article, we talk about how the ride vehicle blocks out the view on the sides, looking up at the 3D screen.
We’re curious to hear more details on how this Avengers ride will push the envelope. How will this build on the ride system used in the Peter Pan ride, rather than being a Marvel-themed version of the same thing? It’s very likely we will get this answer, plus more details about the ride, at this week’s expo.

Stark Flight Lab is the other new ride coming to the Avengers Campus expansion at Disney California Adventure. This ride will be thrilling and intense! Riders will be situated in a two-person seat, which will be picked up by a robotic arm and flung around in the air to simulate the motions of superheroes’ flight patterns.
