Disney World’s Best Hotel Gym Isn’t at the Resort Most Guests Expect

Walt Disney World categorizes its portfolio of over two dozen resort hotels into different tiers, with more amenities available at the highest of these categories, the “deluxe” tier. All deluxe Disney World hotels, plus a few others in the “moderate” category, have workout facilities for hotel guests, though the quality varies for each location.

We’ve been to most of these Disney World hotel gyms, and one is clearly our favorite. Here’s our case for the best gym in Disney World, as well as a few runner-ups, all of which are open 24 hours a day. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including a mini water park announced for Disney World’s future hotel and 7 new lands coming to Disney theme parks.

Best Gym in Disney World Runner-Ups

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort expanded its overnight accommodations in 2024 with a new building formally named Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Island Tower opened with a new gym, which was a big deal since the existing resort didn’t have one. Guests staying at any building in the sprawling Polynesian Village Resort can use the Island Tower‘s fitness center.

As the newest gym at Disney World, this one delivers a modern workout experience with all-new equipment. It also has a nice area against the wall with dry towels, hot towels, water, and snacks.

Sink

This space is bright, with lots of natural light coming in from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Some of the equipment faces the tropical view outside, but much of it faces walls or mirrors.

Disney’s Coronado Resort likewise expanded in 2019 with Gran Destino Tower, complete with La Vida Health Club Fitness Center, pictured above.

This large gym is located right off the lobby and is one of Disney World’s newest gyms. While the equipment is somewhat modern, it’s not our top pick because it’s situated in a place that doesn’t feel like you’re at Disney World.

La Vida can be crowded in the mornings, especially depending on what convention is booked in Coronado Springs’ convention space. As a general rule, all of the gyms on our list are more crowded in the mornings.

Disney's Contemporary Resort

Our final runner-up for the best gym in Disney World is Olympiad Fitness Center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s nice, with artwork throughout the space themed to The Incredibles, but it has no views outside. It’s also on an awkward in-between floor of the main tower that you can only access via elevator.

The Best Hotel Gym at Disney World

Gym equipment

Zanhati Fitness Center at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is the best gym at any Disney World resort hotel. The hotel has aerobic machines, weight machines, pull-up bar, and yoga equipment.

Gym equipment

Although Animal Kingdom Lodge opened in 2001, the equipment in its gym has clearly been updated to be new and up to date. This is also a great water fountain to fill up any bottles.

This gym has a great view of the outdoor pool area. You can watch the world go by out the window while on one of the aerobic machines. Zanhati is connected to nice locker rooms, too. The locker rooms have a sauna, steam room, showers, and lockers. This is a great place to shower off before leaving for the airport as well. During my recent trip we hopped in the pool before leaving for the airport and then showered here.
