Make Your Own Tie-Dye Disney Shirt
What was once an activity often reserved for our favorite Disney Resort hotel, Disney’s Pop Century, is now available at other resort hotels as well! During a recent visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, we saw the popular tie-dye t-shirt activity down by the pool area as part of the resort’s recreation schedule.

The Mickey tie-dye shirt activity is a resort experience where guests can purchase a plain shirt and create their own custom design with guidance from a cast member. The shirts are pre-rolled to include a Mickey in the center!
While this activity is most commonly seen at Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, it has been expanded in the last year to more resorts at Disney World. When you check in, check the Resort Activity Guide to see if it’s offered during your stay.
Cheapest Disney T-Shirt You Can Find
This experience costs only $20 per shirt to tie-dye a shirt. This is the cheapest Disney shirt you can find anywhere at Disney World! You just tell the cast members your size, and they will hand you a pre-rolled and rubber-banded shirt.
Easy to Do Disney Tie-Dye Experience
Once you receive your shirt, you can pick a table to station yourself at. There is a large variety of colors available, and the cast members can give you advice on how to best pick your colors.
Just pick the colors you want on your shirt and consider what color you want your Mickey to be! One end of the shirt will have three rubber bands separating part of the shirt to have a Mickey in the middle, so it was easy to see how it would end up looking. This was a very quick and easy experience.
Picking the Best Colors
There is a fun variety of colors, too! The advice from the cast member is that you make the Mickey one color and separate a bit from the other colors so it stands out. Once you’re done, the cast members will take your shirt and seal it in a plastic bag with instructions.
If you do multiple shirts, each one will be in its own plastic ziploc bag, and you’re given instructions to keep it sealed for a few days. The longer you keep it sealed, the darker the colors! So this can easily go in your luggage and then be washed when you return home.
Washing Your Shirt at Home
You leave your shirt in the bag for up to two weeks, and then you rinse it out at home and wash it! This was such a fun and cheap activity to do. Definitely made for a great souvenir! I washed my shirt immediately when I got home because I wanted my colors to be lighter, so it was in the bag for about five days. You can see how the colors are more of a pastel above.
For our other shirt, we waited about ten days, and the colors came out much brighter. So really, the longer you wait, the brighter it will turn out.

This is one of our favorite Disney World souvenirs for the low cost and the unique memory that comes with it. And honestly, it’s true to say that this is the cheapest shirt you can find at Disney!
