Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party returns for another year of after-hours, family-friendly fun at Disney California Adventure in Disneyland Resort this spooky season. When Disney announced details for the 2026 party, one item was missing: the event’s parade. The parade has now been replaced with a new offering.
There will be no parade at Oogie Boogie Bash this year due to long-term construction work on new additions at Disneyland. Disney has a new replacement offering in the works that some are looking forward to even more than the parade. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including a popular Disney World snack that’s now available at Disneyland and new Disneyland popcorn buckets.

Frightfully Fun Parade Not Happening at Oogie Boogie Bash 2026
Frightfully Fun Parade had been offered at Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party since the Disney California Adventure event began in 2019. Before that, the parade had been part of Mickey’s Halloween Party, a now-defunct event next door at Disneyland Park, since 2016.

The parade, which was performed twice each party night, included segments themed to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Haunted Mansion, and Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog, plus a finale with many Disney Villains. Several minutes before the parade, the Headless Horseman from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad would ride through the park on a real horse.
Frightfully Fun Parade will not return for Oogie Boogie Bash 2026, which will take place on select nights from August 18 through October 31.
The decision likely relates to two major construction projects underway.
Disney California Adventure’s parade float storage building is located backstage behind the side of Incredicoaster closest to Paradise Gardens Park.
Directly adjacent to this building, Disney recently cleared trees and backstage roads to prep the construction site for an upcoming Coco boat ride, seen above in late April 2026. We’re very excited about this attraction, and you can see more details about what to expect from that ride here.
The Coco construction site also blocked off the large gate where all parade floats and performers would enter the park and begin the parade route from backstage. Construction walls now line this area, preventing any logical semblance of the former parade route’s starting point. We captured the photo above before construction walls were added. This gate is now inaccessible as an entry point into the park from backstage.

The proximity of the Coco construction site to the parade storage building and the blockage of the parade gate mean the Frightfully Fun Parade cannot perform during Oogie Boogie Bash, which could indicate bigger shifts for the park’s entertainment future.

This effectively means any parade at Disney California Adventure is a nonstarter. The most recent daytime parade to perform in the park was Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! in 2025.
¡Disney Viva Navidad! Street Party, a procession featuring one large parade float, also typically uses the now-blocked-off gate during the holiday season. Disneyland has confirmed that ¡Disney Viva Navidad! Street Party will return on November 18, 2026, so guests can expect to see either a modified production or a different location. This is not yet confirmed. We know from Disney that parades will return to Disney California Adventure in the future, even if they don’t happen this year.
Mickey Visit predicts the Coco ride will open in late 2028. We wonder if we may not see a full Disney California Adventure parade until after that date. From the looks of the concept art above, this entire area will be very different.

One might wonder why Disney can’t build a new parade storage building on the other side of the existing parade route, behind the intersection of Hollywoodland and Avengers Campus. A different construction project may prevent this possibility, as any theoretical new facility large enough to store a large number of parade floats could likely collide with the massive construction site for two new rides: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.

Disney’s New Addition Replacing Parade This Year

Instead of performing Frightfully Fun Parade during Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party this year, Disney will introduce Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party. This new production will celebrate the classic Disneyland Park ride with familiar characters, sets, and music adapted as a live show in the streets.
This is a street party and not a parade, which may mean that there will be fewer floats and that these floats will stop in the street for an extended performance number rather than keep moving continuously throughout the park.
Where these floats will enter and exit the park, and where Disney will store the small pair of floats backstage, remains to be seen. Concept art shows two floats. We don’t have full details on the extent of the performance.
Disney also announced the Headless Horseman will continue to ride through the park at designated times throughout the night. This was a staple of the popular nighttime parade, and the horse and rider went down the route before the parade began. The big time gap between the Headless Horseman and the subsequent parade was a downside of the Frightfully Fun Parade for many guests, even though it was for safety reasons. With the Headless Horseman now separate from the parade, guests can get more out of the event in the time they would have spent waiting.
From my perspective, this street party is a great solution that might be an even better fit for this event than the Frightfully Fun Parade.
The parade only had four floats, with huge gaps of empty space between each float. The parade floats and performers were always outstanding, but the quantity felt underwhelming, especially compared to the lavish East Coast parade counterpart, Mickey’s Boo to You Halloween Parade, performed during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom.
By contrast, Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake will focus on one beloved Disney IP in a way that I suspect may overdeliver on its “street party” expectations.
If Disney’s only reasons for discontinuing the Frightfully Fun Parade are construction-related, there’s no reason Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake can’t have just as many performers as the full parade had. If that’s the case, two floats and a smaller footprint of performance space are a much better fit for that cast than trying to stretch the roster into a full parade.
