Disneyland Just Made a Disappointing Change to One of the Best Treats in the Park

One of the best spots to get dessert at Disneyland is Jolly Holiday Bakery, especially with its easy-to-access mobile ordering. This is one of our favorite Disneyland restaurants. Unfortunately we have some sad news to report about one of the best treats on the menu that is perhaps even our favorite in all of Disneyland.

We reported previously on a fan favorite treat that went through an ingredient change, much to our disappointment, and now that treat has changed again, but now it’s much worse. Keep reading for this new change and why we’re so disappointed. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including Disney announcing it’s opening Monsters, Inc. land in phases and an upcoming change to the Disney apps.

Disneyland Keeps Changing This Fan-Favorite Treat

Jolly Holiday macaron

The Disneyland macarons are among our favorite treats at Disneyland, and the best one has always been the Raspberry Mickey Macaron at Jolly Holiday Bakery. This treat is a perfect combination of fresh raspberries, creamy filling, and a soft outer layer cookie that melts in your mouth. It is a refresh mix of fresh fruit, sugary pastry, and filling.

This treat was previously changed two years ago when the filling was replaced with a clumpier version, which tasted more like a supermarket icing than a rich, creamy filling.

The photo above is the version of the Raspberry Mickey Macaron before the change. While the change impacted the quality, the fresh raspberries still helped carry the flavor.

Jolly Holiday Raspberry Macaron

The photo above is the macaroon after the change from two years ago with the new, clumpy filling. The filling doesn’t squish out when you push down on the cookie and instead feels closer to the Oreo cream-type filling or harder fondant.

Now though, the new change to this favorite treat makes those complaints feel small scale. They have completely removed the joy of this treat.

Unfortunately, the newest change has gotten much, much worse. Now the Raspberry-Rose Macaron has been changed to remove all the fresh raspberries, and instead it is now just all filling.

Disney describes the new version of the treat as “Red Mickey Macaron Shell filled with Raspberry-Rose Filling and Raspberry Gelee. The treat is now $8.99.

It looks like from the photo on the Disneyland app that the filling is also the same consistency of the filling that was swapped in two years ago. This macaron is now resembling an odd, ice-cream sandwich type dessert that might just be filled with chunky filling rather than a smooth center.

It’s disappointing to see these fan-favorite treats change, especially when the changes appear to resemble cost-cutting measures like removing fresh fruit. These changes come around the same time as Disneyland has also raised prices across the resort on hundreds of items.
