Disney’s Biggest Cruise Ship Ever Launching With 15 Major Changes From Other Ships

Disney Cruise Line is in an unprecedented era of expansion. The fleet is about to welcome its fourth new cruise ship in four years, and its eighth in total since the enterprise began in 1998, with an additional five ships on the way through 2031. This follows another new ship that launched at the end of last year.

The new ship for 2026 is Disney Cruise Line’s biggest ever, and introduces new components to a cruise vacation that Disney has never attempted. We’re excited to give you a tour of the ship below and show you all of it. At Mickey Visit, we cover the latest Disney news, like cast members changes to restore the guest experience and a new Disney World discount for select guests.

Sailing from Singapore and carrying the largest number of guests Disney has ever taken to sea, the Disney Adventure especially stands out in comparison to the recent additions of the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny. It doesn’t follow the same general layout as those three ships, and marks perhaps the boldest deviation from the formula of Disney Cruise Line to date.

While the Disney Adventure will deliver the signature vacation experience guests have come to expect from Disney Cruise Line, the vessel will differ from its fellow Disney ships in many key ways. We break down all the differences on the ship. At the bottom of the article we also share more of the history of how this new Disney cruise ship happened.

1. Entire Cruise at Sea with No Stops

Days at sea, when the ship doesn’t stop at any port and remains in the ocean all day, are a familiar part of Disney Cruise Line itineraries. The Disney Adventure will take this notion one step further, though, by remaining at sea for the entire vacation.

The ship picks up guests in Singapore, sails into the ocean for three or four nights without stopping, and drops guests off back in Singapore at the end of the voyage.

To accommodate for the extra time spent on the ship, Disney was intentional about providing more activities onboard the Disney Adventure in comparison to other ships in Disney’s fleet. As we’ve already seen, this ship has three rides. There’s more entertainment. There are more restaurants. There are more things to do.

While it’s true some of these extra amenities simply account for the larger number of guests onboard, much of it also caters to this being a completely different, all-at-sea style of Disney vacation.

2. Disney’s First WALL-E Show

Every Disney Cruise Line ship is home to Broadway-style shows, and the Disney Adventure is no exception with two large-scale theater shows: Disney Seas the Adventure, recycled from previous ships, and Remember, an all-new production.

Remember earns the distinction of the first live Disney show anywhere, at sea or on land, to be based on Pixar’s WALL-E. The titular character from that film, along with EVE, are brought to life onstage with puppets.

The show’s story follows WALL-E as he tries to reboot a powered-down EVE. Along the way, he journeys into Disney stories such as The Little MermaidAladdin, and Coco.

3. Divided into Zones Like a Theme Park

Disney’s first seven cruise ships contain themed areas, to be sure, but any given theme is restricted to one particular restaurant, pool, or room rather than an entire section of the ship.

In contrast, the Disney Adventure is divided into seven themed zones, with its attractions and amenities existing within each zone like at a theme park.

The zones of the Disney Adventure are: Disney Imagination Garden, Disney Discovery Reef based on Disney ocean stories, San Fransokyo Street based on Big Hero 6, Wayfinder Bay based on Moana, Town Square themed to Disney Princesses, Marvel Landing, and Toy Story Place.

4. Disney’s First Roller Coaster on a Cruise Ship

The Disney Adventure holds the honor of presenting the first roller coaster on a Disney Cruise Line ship. It’s called Ironcycle Test Run, and it’s 820 feet long, making it the longest coaster on any cruise ship, Disney or otherwise.

Located outdoors in the Disney Adventure’s Marvel Landing area, Ironcycle Test Run zips riders 30 feet above the top deck of the ship. Within the backstory of the ride, guests are testing out Iron Man’s new prototype vehicle.

Two other rides will also comprise Marvel Landing. Pym Quantum Racers, themed after Ant-Man, will resemble go-kart racing. Meanwhile, Groot Galaxy Spin, starring Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy, is a hub-and-spoke flat ride, a variation of a ride like Dumbo the Flying Elephant at Disneyland.

With these attractions in place, there is no AquaMouse water ride on the Disney Adventure as guests have come to expect from Disney’s other recent ships.

5. Some Staterooms Have Interior Balconies with Views of Live Shows, a Disney First

Most of the staterooms on existing Disney Cruise Line ships are located in sections of the ship solely dedicated to guest accommodations. The Disney Adventure will deviate from this formula by situating many guest rooms around a multi-level main plaza called Disney Imagination Garden.

Disney Imagination Garden will serve as an entertainment hub of the Disney Adventure. The area will be home to live shows themed to Pirates of the Caribbean, Marvel super heroes, and Big Hero 6. As seen in the rendering above, some staterooms will have indoor balconies that directly overlook Disney Imagination Garden.

The backdrop of Disney Imagination Garden is Storybook Castle, Disney’s first castle on a cruise ship.

6. New Fireworks Show Celebrating The Lion King

Disney Cruise Line has long featured fireworks as part of its nighttime entertainment, usually during a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed party, as pictured above on the Disney Treasure. The Disney Adventure will switch things up with the debut of The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky.

The new production will feature the songs “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” “He Lives in You,” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and South Africa’s Ndlovu Youth Choir.

7. Themed Interactive Area for the Whole Family, Not Just Kids

The Disney Adventure will have many of the familiar kids-only spaces that Disney cruise ships are known for. However, the new ship also caters to the adventurous spirit of kids-at-heart in a zone called San Fransokyo Street.

Themed to Big Hero 6, San Fransokyo Street features arcade games, a Baymax meet & greet, and movie theaters.

This is also where guests can find Hiro Training Zone, which Disney describes as “an immersive training simulator” with physical challenges and a high-tech floor. Within the backstory, all the games were built by Hiro Hamada from the movie.

Guests of any age can access San Fransokyo Street, not just kids.

8. New Monsters, Inc. Premium Dining Restaurant

Mike & Sulley’s – Flavors of Asia is a premium dining restaurant on the Disney Adventure cruise ship. Inspired by Monsters, Inc., this restaurant features four unique meal options: a full-service Japanese steakhouse, a teppanyaki room, an Omakase bar, and a dedicated area for sushi and sashimi.

Mike & Sulley’s – Flavors of Asia could be a preview of what’s to come from potential dining inside Monstropolis, currently under construction at Walt Disney World.

9. Duffy and Friends’ Disney Cruise Line Debut

Duffy and Friends is a Disney franchise represented minimally in the United States but extremely popular at Tokyo Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disney Resort.

Duffy the Disney Bear is Mickey Mouse’s teddy bear, and his friends are all cuddly plush animals such as Gelatoni the cat and LinaBell the fox.

This entire group of characters will make their Disney Cruise Line debut on the Disney Adventure. Guests can see them in a new show titled Duffy and the Friend Ship or shop for Duffy and Friends merchandise at a store onboard dedicated solely the franchise.

10. The Ship Carries So Many Guests That Some Restaurants Have Two Locations Onboard

Since the Disney Adventure is so big, some of the rotational dining restaurants have two locations onboard, each slightly different.

On the Disney Adventure, Animator’s Palate, a familiar restaurant from several other Disney ships, will be present along with a new counterpart called Animator’s Table. At these restaurants, the interior design changes from black-and-white to color throughout the meal. It seems each version of the restaurant will feature a different set of Disney animated films for inspiration.

On another night, guests will eat at either Navigator’s Club (themed to “the prestigious maritime tradition of exclusive ‘captain’s table’ dinners,” according to Disney) or Hollywood Spotlight Club, pictured above, themed to the heyday of moviemaking. Both restaurants will include visits from Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy.

11. Captains Minnie and Mickey are This Ship’s Exterior Characters

Disney Cruise Line has a tradition of each ship featuring a statue of a Disney character on its stern and an illustration of a Disney character on its bow.

For the Disney Adventure, Captain Minnie Mouse and Captain Mickey Mouse “paint” the ship’s name on its stern. On the bow, Captain Mickey appears in an emblem illustration.

Straying from tradition, there will be no bronze statue of any Disney character in the Disney Adventure atrium-like areas. There is, however, a topiary-style statue of Sorcerer Mickey Mouse in Disney Imagination Garden, one of the main entertainment hubs of the ship.

12. Adult Lounges Exclusive to the Disney Adventure

Über-themed lounges and bars catering to adult passengers have become an increasingly prominent part of Disney Cruise Line ships. One such example is the Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny.

Onboard the Disney Adventure, adults will find four lounges, each based on a different Disney movie: Spellbound, based on the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs; Buccaneer Bar, pictured above, based on the Pirates of the Caribbean films and rides; Tiana’s Bayou Lounge, based on The Princess and the Frog; and Taverna Portorosso, based on Pixar’s Luca.

13. Disney’s Biggest Ship with More Guests Than Ever

The Disney Adventure is the biggest Disney cruise ship ever. It weighs about 208,000 gross tons and can carry 6,700 guests. By comparison, the Disney Destiny, which set sail in November 2025, is approximately 144,000 gross tons and can accommodate 4,000 guests.

As we’ve seen with the many components on the ship, its size and capacity informs just about every component of the vacation.

14. Disney’s First Ship to Homeport in Asia

Most Disney ships begin their inaugural voyages sailing from Florida before expanding their itineraries to other destinations. The Disney Adventure sails from Singapore, making it the first Disney Cruise Line ship to have its home port in Asia.

When Disney first announced the Disney Adventure, the company said the ship would retain Singapore as its exclusive home port for at least five years.

The Disney Adventure may be the first Asia-based Disney ship, but it won’t be the last. A future Disney Cruise Line ship will sail from Tokyo beginning in 2029.

15. The First Disney Ship to Begin with a Different Owner

The Disney Adventure originally wasn’t supposed to be the Disney Adventure at all. It began construction as a ship for a different company that went out of business. Disney acquired the ship mid-construction, which explains the slight difference in its shape and significant difference in its layout compared to other Disney cruise ships.

Walt Disney Imagineering still designed all the spaces and amenities onboard the Disney Adventure, but in many cases had to work within an existing framework, literally. This was a limitation the other Disney ships didn’t have during their creative process.
