Walt Disney World has more than 25 owned resort hotels, which range from budget-friendly options to luxurious resorts with high-class dining. TripAdvisor is a popular online platform where guests can share reviews on hotels, restaurants, attractions, airlines, cruises, and vacation experiences. Since this site is known for its large collection of hotel reviews, it has an abundance of reviews about the Disney World resort hotels.
So with that in mind, we took a look at the worst-rated Disney World resort hotels on TripAdvisor to see if we agree with the sentiment shared by thousands of online reviewers. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including a rule change for pin trading at Disneyland and details about Disney’s weakest Star Wars ride.

7. Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts
Starting from the bottom of the list, we have the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts ranked as the 7th worst of the Disney World hotels. Part of the reason for this ranking is that these hotels are not fully Disney-operated, which tends to catch some guests off guard. Reviewers frequently complain about high resort fees, parking charges, and find the room quality is inconsistent for the price point compared to other Disney deluxe hotels. Another common theme in complaints was the “convention hotel” feel rather than Disney immersion.
Most reviews do cite the advantage of proximity to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios as a pro of this hotel. I agree with this sentiment and find all these criticisms fair. If you go into this hotel not knowing it’s not Disney-operated, you might be caught off guard by the business atmosphere of the hotel. But it can be a good option for guests who do not care about the theming and want to experience deluxe-level accommodations with a lower price point than other Disney deluxe resorts.
6. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside tends to receive higher rankings than the value options, but shows up often in the lower Disney World hotel rankings. Some of the biggest complaints about this resort focus on the large walking distances due to the size, slow bus transportation, and outdated rooms despite recent refurbishments. Pros from reviewers point out the quiet, scenic atmosphere and the general theming.
This is another consensus I agree with, especially with the spread-out layout of the resort, which means a long walk to the food, transportation, and feature pool. I do think the comments on outdated rooms aren’t the most fair since the recent refurbishments have really brightened up the rooms.
5. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort (non-tower sections)
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort also made the list, but this one is pretty split in guest perception, with many reviewers loving the Gran Destino Tower, while the older sections pull the rating down. Many negative reviews cite the large and convention-heavy vibe, with exterior rooms getting dragged for being outdated, plus too far away from dining and transportation. Transportation was a frequent negative, with many reviewers reporting crowded buses during peak convention times.
This is another reviewer that I feel is justified, as the experience at Coronado Springs drastically changes whether you are in the Gran Destino Tower or in the exterior rooms, which are much older. If you are prioritizing modern updates, staying in the tower is a must for this moderate resort.
4. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is ranked worse than the other two moderate resort hotels on this list, which I find surprising! This moderate resort does have better reviews with transportation due to its Skyliner access, but is still largely criticized. Most reviewers complain about the large size of the resort, requiring long walks to transportation, dining, and the feature pool. Guests often say, “nice but inconvenient.”
The commentary on the resort’s large size here is valid, but I do not think this resort is worse than the other two on this list, largely because of its Skyliner access. In that case, I disagree with the assessment of Caribbean Beach Resort, which I find better than both Coronado Springs and Port Orleans- Riverside.
3. Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort ranks as the most popular of the three All-Stars, but still has low ratings overall. The reviews here don’t care for the basic, small rooms, and the long bus waits. The theming here is often cited as the best among the other three All-Star Resorts and tends to have an overall better reputation for cleanliness.
I would agree with the theming as the All-Star Movies is my favorite for theming options amongst the three. But I don’t think the reviews on cleanliness make much sense. You are likely getting the same housekeeping standard across all three value resorts.
2. Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is ranked just below All-Star Movies. The complaints here are similar to the ones for the other All-Star Resorts, citing small, basic rooms, inconsistent housekeeping, and noisy and crowded buses during peak times. The pro for this resort that ranks it above All-Star Sports is the option of family suites, which are a rare positive in this value category. This is the only All-Star resort that offers family suites.
Many of these reviews are very focused on the size of the rooms, which I think have been updated well with the use of a Murphy bed to give guests flexibility on space. So this is another assessment I don’t entirely agree with, especially since you have the option at this All-Star Resort to upgrade to a family suite.
1. Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort comes in at number one of the lowest-rated Disney-owned resorts in guest rankings. Reviewers find the theming to be the least immersive Disney theming of the All-Stars, with similar, basic, and small rooms. The complaints surrounding noise levels are often targeted at the frequency of youth groups staying here for events at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, which can cause long bus waits as well.
I agree with most of the sentiment shared by reviewers. While the price is right for All-Star Sports, often being the cheapest resort at Disney World, it’s my least favorite of the All-Star resorts due to its theming. However, if you don’t experience the congestion from youth groups at All-Star Sports, then it’s really not much different from the other three and has the lowest price.
