Disney California Adventure World of Color Show Refurbishment Shortened, Limited Time Pre-Show Returning

Disneyland just shared that the World of Color nighttime spectacular at Disney California Adventure will be returning on an earlier date than originally anticipated!

The most recent World of Color show, World of Color – Season of Light, has run during the holidays at Disneyland, and the show was scheduled to close from January 8 into March for a longer refurbishment. The length and timing of this refurbishment meant that the Lunar New Year pre-show that visitors could typically see before the show would not be featured.

However, Disneyland has now shared that the World of Color show will be returning earlier than anticipated. See everything that was announced and the return date of the show below!

World of Color Returns to Disneyland Early

Disneyland announced that World of Color – ONE, which originally appeared as part of last year's Disney100 celebration at the resort, will be returning to Disney California Adventure starting January 19, 2024 rather than later in March. The show will now only be closed January 8, 2024 – January 18, 2024.

The World of Color – ONE tells the story of how a single action can create a ripple that can evolve into a wave of change. This returning show is the first Disneyland Resort nighttime spectacular to include characters, music, and moments from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, the Avengers, and Star Wars in the same production.

Because World of Color is returning earlier than originally expected, this means that during the Lunar New Year celebration from January 23, 2024 – February 18, 2024, visitors will get to see the nighttime water show “Hurry Home – A Lunar New Year Celebration” preceding World of Color – ONE.

The pre-show features a musical score by Academy Award-winning composer Tan Dun and follows the quest of a lantern reuniting with its family for the annual celebration of good luck and fortune. You can see everything you need to know about the Lunar New Year celebration at Disneyland in our guide!
