Average Hollywood Studios Hours

The Hollywood Studios operating hours vary depending if you're visiting on a weekday, weekend or during a “peak” time of year which often includes holiday weekends, select summer dates, and spring break.

Hollywood Studios Operating Hours

• Opening 830AM
• Early Entry for resort guests: 8AM
• Closing 9PM-9:30PM

These are the average hours and will change depending on the time of year. The busier the parks, the longer park operating hours will be but you can always count on weekends to offer the longest operating hours.

What Time Does Hollywood Studios Close?

Hollywood Studios often closes by 9-9:30PM with longer closing hours during peak times of the year ranging to 10 or 1030PM. Hollywood Studios is worth seeing after the sun goes down especially in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge which looks spectacular in the evenings.

Hollywood Studios also offers the popular nighttime spectacular, Fantasmic!, which plays nightly right around closing at 9PM. Showtimes may vary depending on the time of the year but this is another way to ensure you're in the park after the sun goes down and get the most out of your time at Hollywood Studios.

Hollywood Studios End of Day Tips

Staying until Hollywood Studios closing is a good way to ensure you get the most out of your day. This is one of the most popular theme parks at Walt Disney World and is home to some of the most popular attractions. This theme park also doesn't have as man attractions as some of the other parks, like Magic Kingdom, so a crowded day at Hollywood Studios will see longer wait times because of that. Staying until closing is a great way to make the most out of your day.

You can get in line for any attraction before park closing despite how long the wait is! As long as you are IN LINE before the official park closing time, you will be able to ride. My strategy is often to get in line for Slinky Dog Dash five minutes before park closing and then by the time we finish the attraction and exit we can see the park lit up and also spend the bulk of our wait for that ride (which often has the longest line in the park!) during a time the park is officially closed.

Disney will often post inflated waiting times for attractions at the end of the night, often to discourage guests from getting in line right before park close. So the chances are the posted wait time might actually be much less than the actual wait time.

Hollywood Studios Early Entry

Hollywood Studios offers Early Entry daily for guests staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel. You can read more about this perk in our Early Entry Walt Disney World guide.

Early entry allows hotel guests to enter the park 30 minutes prior to official opening time. For Hollywood Studios, this will usually be 8AM or 83oAM. This 30 minute head start is a great thing to take advantage of! Everyone will dash straight either to Rise of the Resistance or Slinky Dog Dash and unless you're at the front of that herd of people, I recommend crossing off other attractions first. Our favorite place to start in Hollywood Studios is Tower of Terror and then we ride Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster right after since these two rides are right next to each other it makes it easy to cross them off the list.

This is especially a great perk if you plan on hopping to another park and not staying until Hollywood Studios closing time.

Hollywood Studios Extended Evening Hours

Hollywood Studios is usually only included in the Extended Evening Hours offering for guests staying at Deluxe Walt Disney World hotels during busy times of the year. Even then, it still won't be offered as many nights as Magic Kingdom and EPCOT unless we see it added more frequently this coming year.

When it is offered, it's great to take advantage of since this park often sees long wait times due to the smaller number of attractions it has compared to the others while also having some of the most popular. Walt Disney World's website has the most up to date Extended Evening Hours dates.

When Do Rides Open? Rise of the Resistance Hours

All Hollywood Studios attractions open right when the park official opens. Although, it's not uncommon for Tower of Terror to be delayed as that's been our experience a few times when rope dropping at Hollywood Studios. Usually cast members will inform you of this delay so you can quickly head to another ride.

For Hollywood Studios Early Entry, only these attractions are available:

• Alien Swirling Saucers
• Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
• Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
• Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
• Slinky Dog Dash
• Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
• Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
• The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
• Toy Story Mania!

The most popular of these attractions is easily going to be Slinky's Dog Dash and Rise of the Resistance and this is where all guests will head to first. If you'd rather not be part of the mad dash to Star Wars or Toy Story, you could head right to either Tower of Terror or Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster and line up to wait for opening. Hollywood Studios is one of the parks where Genie+ at Walt Disney World is more of a necessity and I will usually book Slinky Dog Dash first as those reservations will run out quickly.

Rise of the Resistance will sometimes close earlier than Hollywood Studios does as at times it will have separate operating hours than the rest of the park. You can check the most up to date information on its closing time on the My Experience App.

Hollywood Studios Restaurant Hours

Hollywood Studios restaurants that offer breakfast will be open right when the park does which is usually 8-830AM during most times of the year. For the restaurants that start the day with lunch, you can expect an opening time of 10AM-11AM depending on the individual restaurant.

Most table service restaurants stay open until an hour before park closing with some remaining open until closing. For quick service restaurants most close when the park does giving you some time to grab a bite before Hollywood Studios closes.

You will be allowed to linger in the park even after Hollywood Studios officially closes so if you grab a snack right before closing, you're welcome to grab a table and enjoy it.

Hollywood Studios Shopping Hours

Most of the Hollywood Studios shopping locations will close right when operating hours end for the night. The one exception to this are the two main store locations towards the park entrance which will stay open an hour past Hollywood Studios closing time.

These shops will stay open an hour past official Hollywood Studios closing giving guests an additional hour to shop before they leave for the day. This is why I recommend saving your shopping for the end of the night rather than doing it during regular park hours. Plus you don't have to carry your purchases around with you and can walk right out when you're done.
