Universal Orlando Events in April
Here are all the current events to know about impacting Universal Orlando in April!
Butterbeer Season
Butterbear Season at Universal Orlando runs through May 31, 2025. This seasonal event celebrates the iconic Harry Potter drink with Butterbeer themed treats, themed merchandise, and an expansion of the current beverage offerings for Butterbeer. You can find it all in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Grad Bash
This year's Grad Bash takes place April 4, 5, 11, and 25, 2025. Grad Bash is Universal Orlando's celebration for graduating seniors in the area. The theme parks don't close early for the event as it takes place after park close so this typically does not impact operations at Universal. However, the graduates do get to arrive to the park early before it closes which may cause an uptick in crowds at the parks after 4PM.
Universal Volcano Bay Nights
Universal Volcano Bay nights takes place April 12 and 25, 2025. This new event coming to Universal Orlando kicks off in April at Volcano Bay water park at Universal Orlando. This after hours event includes reduced wait times for popular attractions, interactions with DreamWorks characters, a live DJ, games, and speciality themed snacks. Guests receive a complimentary Coca-Cola Freestyle souvenir cup as part of their purchase.
Universal Orlando in April Crowd Calendar
April sees a larger upswing in crowds because of the Spring Break crowds. According to our crowd calendar, most days up through April 6th are ranked at Above Normal Crowds with April 7-19 ranked at Massive Crowds before they go back down for the rest of the month to Above Normal Crowds. But the bright side in higher crowd levels is that Universal Orlando will increase their entertainment hours and operating hours which makes the news of higher crowd levels a bit more welcome.
To avoid the largest Spring Break crowds, the first and last week of April are the best bet as these weeks will be a bit more reasonable than the middle of the month. However, there is one BIG weekend in April that drags huge crowds to the Orlando area especially at Walt Disney World. Since Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando are so close to each other, crowds at one park can impact the other!
The Cheerleading World Championship is an annual event and is one of the BIGGEST youth athlete events at Walt Disney World. This event also runs alongside alongside other cheer and dance championships which all happen during the time frame of April 25th 2025 through April 28th 2025. Many of these youth teams and their chaperones will linger in the area to enjoy the parks which could include a side stop to Universal Orlando. However, the impact over at Universal Orlando won't nearly be as big as it will be at Walt Disney World so that is some comfort.
Universal Orlando Weather in April
Universal Orlando in April is a great time of year for guests that want to avoid rain since April is a relatively dry month with the lowest humidity and minimal impacts of rain.
The warm weather starts to increase in April in Florida though so you can expect to experience some hot days during your trip so it is best to be prepared. The average high in April is 82 degrees with the average low being 63 degrees.
April in Universal Orlando can also bring with it a little windy weather which can mark for a nice warm and breezy day. Spring is one of the best times to visit the Orlando area since you can enjoy the warm weather but it's not too hot or rainy like the summer months.
Universal Orlando Park Hours in April
Universal Orlando shifts their park hours to accommodate busier times of the month so during that Massive Crowds stretch in mid-April, their hours are extended in anticipation.
In April, Universal Orlando's hours open at 9AM each day with an 8AM opening for hotel guests. Most nights the theme parks close at 7PM with the closing time extended until 9PM for the anticipated busy days of the month.
What to Wear and Pack for Universal Orlando
So what should you wear to Universal Orlando in April? The weather should always help you determine this answer! Since the weather is more mild in April you may not have to worry about rain quite as much but you should still plan for hot days since the average high easily reaches the 80s. I always recommend comfortable, breathable clothes for the parks and walking shoes.
Always plan on packing summer clothes, sunblock, and everything you need to stay cool. While the chance for rain is small, it's always a good idea to still bring those rain ponchos any time you visit Florida. I don't think I've ever had a trip to Orlando where it went everyday without at least one rain shower!
