Family Fitness Classes

Art of Animation

If your family loves to dance especially to the music of The Lion King, why not start your day out with this class? Over at the Lion King area of Disney's Art of Animation Resort, you can enjoy this family fitness class to get your body moving and ready for the day. These classes are for guests of all ages and last around 25 minutes.

Over at the Great Ceremonial Lawn at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, you can channel your inner adventurer with a Moana-inspired fitness class. This class combines stretching, singing, and dancing with inspirational music from Moana – a great way to energize you!

On Demand: Disney Family Wellness

Disney On Demand

To keep your mind and body recharged at the end of the day, you can check out the in-room televisions at select resorts for a variety of family wellness activities. You can stretch with Mickey Mouse and explore other short videos about sleep and healthy eating. You can even take a few moments with Ashley Eckstein on her video Star Wars Mindful Matters for a mindfulness lesson inspired by Star Wars!

Yoga Sessions

Disney Fit Yoga

This activity is probably one of the best morning activities in all of Disney World.

Story Time Yoga is a great family-friendly yoga session where you can enjoy playful poses with your little ones. This activity is offered at six resorts:

  • Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
  • Disney's Art of Animation Resort
  • Disney's BoardWalk Inn
  • Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
  • Disney's Contemporary Resort
  • Disney's Wilderness Lodge

If you're a more experienced yogi, Disney World hotels also offer Disney Fit Yoga, which combines traditional yoga with Disney music. This class is available for people with all skill levels but is recommended for guests ages 12 and older. As of right now, Disney Fit Yoga is offered at two different Disney World hotels:

Archery Classes

Fort Wilderness

Did you know that you can learn archery at Disney World? Over at Disney's fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, you can channel your inner Merida from professional archery guides. This 75-minute experience is dedicated to firing at a range with targets. The best part is that each class size is limited to ten guests, meaning you get personalized advice from your archery guide. Keep in mind though that advance reservations are highly recommended, but walk-ups are welcome as space permits.

Surfing Classes

Typhoon Lagoon

Another really fun fitness activity you can do is surf over at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park before the park opens to guests or after the park closes to guests.

With the Open Surf session, you can share the pool with other surfers and spend 3-hours riding the waves. With the Private Surf session, you can host your own special event with you and your friends.

And you didn't already know, the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is North America's largest outdoor wave pool!

Bike Rentals

Bike Old Key West

Biking around the Disney World hotels offers you a wonderful perspective the surrounding area! At five Disney World hotels, you can rent one of two types of bikes. The first type of bike is a conventional beach bicycle that fits one person. The second type of bike is a surrey bike that fits up to four pedaling riders. Both are really cool in their own right.

To rent a boat, head over to The Bike Barn at the Meadow Recreation Area between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Reservations aren't required.

Walking and Running Trails

Running Trail

Another way to get a great perspective of the different Disney World hotels but at a slower pace is through any of their walking and running trails. And if you want to get a little more out of your workout, you can always use these trails for a running workout!

Here's where you can find the different walking and running trails at the Disney World hotels:

Wellness Scavenger Hunt

Wellness Scavenger Hunt

You may have heard of scavenger hunts at all the Disney World hotels, but did you know that all of the All-Star Resorts offer a wellness scavenger hunt?

At the front desk or merchandise locations of Disney's All-Star Music, Sports, and Movies Resorts, you can pick up a map and start exploring the resorts to solve clues and complete fitness challenges. Challenges include taking a victory lap around life-size props of your favorite movies or finding hidden characters on the football field. And like any other scavenger hunt, you can pick up your celebratory pin at any merchandise location to show what you accomplished!

Did you know that Disney World has four golf courses? While technically not directly connected to any of the Disney World hotels, each of the four courses are located right next to a Disney World hotel. This makes it convenient to stay at a hotel and then head straight to one of the courses to get your golf on!

Here's the list of the four golf courses at Disney World:

Next to Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

  • Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course

Next to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Fitness Centers

Fitness Center

For those of you that are die-hard gym rats or just want to get your quick workout fix, many of the Disney World hotels have you covered with their fitness centers. Each hotel gym typically has

  • a set of treadmills,
  • an elliptical,
  • a set of stationary bicycles,
  • a stair climber machine,
  • a set of dumbells ranging from 5 pounds to 50 pounds,
  • several weight lifting benches,
  • exercise balls, and
  • a variety of strength training machines

Keep in mind that most of the hotel fitness centers are at Deluxe resorts, with one exception. Here's where you can find fitness centers:

  • Disney's Coronado Springs Resort
  • Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
  • Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
  • Disney's Contemporary Resort

  • Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts
  • Disney's Wilderness Lodge
  • Disney's Old Key West Resort
  • Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas

My personal favorite gym? I really love the gym at Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs Resort. It's roomy, it has all the equipment that I would need for my workout, and it's conveniently located by the elevators of the Tower, making it easy to get to!

Which Fitness Offering is my Favorite?

Running Disney World

While I'm a runner and I enjoy strength training at the gym, neither the running trails or fitness centers are my favorite offerings at the Disney World hotels.

I personally love being close to the water. Being on a boat, whether it's a Friendship Boat, water taxi, or ferry, I love the sense of adventure that you feel when setting sail on the open water. That's why when it comes to fitness offerings, it doesn't get any better than exploring the water on a kayak or canoe.

Being able to chart your own path on the water gives you a deep sense of freedom and adventure. You also get a unique perspective of Disney World. And as a fitness enthusiast, you get an incredible arm and core workout!
