Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland has been making great progress as it approaches its official opening at the start of the Christmas celebration at Disneyland. We shared a look at the ride in testing in our recent Disneyland update, and it looks like it's really coming together!
Disneyland has shared that a special group will have the opportunity to experience the ride ahead of its November opening via previews. When the ride opened at Magic Kingdom, it had previews for annual passholders and Disney Vacation Club members as well as a ticketed event for D23 Gold Members. We have now updated this article with our experience at the first day of the Magic Key Annual Passholder previews for Disneyland.

Magic Key holders with a Disneyland Park reservation for that day will have the opportunity to join the virtual queue starting at 7:00 AM, and Magic Key holders who have already entered either park will have the opportunity to join the virtual queue at noon for previews later that day. The virtual queue will be available at both 7 am and noon on all preview days, regardless of the preview start time.
There's a special keepsake amenity available for key holders on all preview days – even if you're not participating in the preview that day. See details on what this is in the update below.
There is a limit of one virtual queue entry to this Magic Key preview per Magic Key holder, per preview day.
October 21, 2024 Update – We just got back from the first day of the Magic Key previews for Tiana's Bayou Adventure. We tried to get the first virtual queue of the day but those sold out in seconds. We were able to grab the second queue of the day to be able to ride. You have to have scanned into the parks for the second queue. We were surrounded by people trying to get a boarding group. People crying and screaming (in happiness and disappointment). It took me back to trying to get a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance when it first opened in early 2020.
When the preview was starting, only guests holding a boarding group that had been called within the virtual queue could access Critter Country to ride. Access to Winnie the Pooh was also limited at that time. These crowd control methods will likely be changed around in the coming days. The construction walls are still up at the front of the attraction and certain items in the queue including the Tiana's Foods car have not yet been revealed. You can see the most recent Disneyland update for photos of the exterior queue.
During the preview on the first day which stretched from 3 pm to 9 pm, there was some downtime for the attraction. It went down for about an hour and a half from around 4:30 pm until just after 6 pm. Most importantly as we talk through all of these details, please be kind to Cast Members working hard to make sure that as many people as possible make it on to the attraction.
The crowd captured in the photo below is from when the attraction was not operating in the afternoon.
We were able to get on the attraction after 6 pm and it all went smoothly. There wasn't a long wait to get on the attraction and once we were on it went very smoothly. The ride was great and even better than the Walt Disney World version that we reviewed here.
PhotoPass photos are not coming through for many people, but we went to the booth outside of Disneyland Park in the Esplanade and the Cast Members helped me to locate it quickly.
There is also currently a giveaway for Magic Key Passholders as noted above. The special gift is a print of the new ride poster. On the first day pass holders could pick up the poster in the breezeway headed into Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge from Fantasyland.
We also know that Disneyland Cast Members are already getting invitations to preview the attraction from October 22 – November 12. That pretty much covers the entire window leading up to the preparation days for the opening of the attraction. We anticipate that there will also be a media preview and Club 33 preview offered for the attraction at certain times during this window.
We may see some of these different groups – Cast Members and Magic Key holders most likely – lumped together into slots where they have reservations to ride the attraction.
At Walt Disney World, previews were announced and then conducted using a virtual queue. Annual Pasholders there had to make a park reservation for one of the days that a preview was offered and then secure spot within the virtual queue at 7 am or 1 pm. Since that process is already in place, it makes sense that Disneyland is playing with this for the preview here too.
In recent memory, Disneyland has not offered preview events for pass holders for new attractions. This is a nice special offering for pass holders that serves as a great perk that serves to enhance the feeling of being in a “special club” when you have a Magic Key.
In addition to the general benefits included with each Magic Key pass type, Magic Key holders will also have access to a special discount on Lightning Lane Multi Pass at select times throughout the year. This perk starts next year, when Magic Key holders will be able to purchase Lightning Lane Multi-Pass for 50% off between January 6 and January 31, 2025.

Our family will be there on one of these dates and are magic key holders. I’m a little confused on how it works to get in the queue. You can get on the app at 7:00 am to join and then at noon again to get a spot?
You can join the queue at either time to get a spot. It’s currently unclear to me if on days when the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure preview starts at 3 pm if there will be a 7 am queue release or if that is just on days when the preview is running in the morning.
Will the VIP tours be able to join in to the previews? Did the VIP tours in WDW have this experience?
That’s a great question that you’ll have to call the guides and ask about.
Did you notice any VIP guests in line during your preview?
Can you be late for your return time and still ride? Do you know how strict they are with the return time?
Good question – I don’t know how late you can be for your preview return time
Do you know if every member of the group needs to be a Magic Keyholder or does just one person in the group need to hold a Magic Key?
