Mickey Visit SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate Review

King Suite bed at SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate

In this review, we will break down all of the offerings and amenities you'll find at this hotel near Disneyland.

The hotel is located behind the Mickey & Friends parking structure. There is an ability to loop around to the tram plaza at the parking structure where you can go through security and get on the tram, but this is a convoluted path (seen that path detailed below). Based on the walk plus tram ride time, many will opt to take an Uber or Lyft over to Disneyland or the Anaheim ART shuttle.

This newly refurbished hotel has rooms with fun Disney-inspired touches, convenient amenities, and free breakfast offered daily.

SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate has 120 rooms total. 1 King and 2 Queen suites are standard, or you can upgrade to One-Bedroom Suites for a kitchen and dining/work area. The hotel is listed as the SpringHill Suites Anaheim “Maingate” but the hotel is actually further from Disneyland than the other SpringHill Suites in the area. We learned that the “Maingate” moniker can used by whichever hotel opened in the destination first and doesn't have to do with the distance to the entrance of Disneyland.

We will share a look inside the room types offered, details on the route to Disneyland, and more details to help you decide if this hotel is a good fit for your trip.

There is the option to book a Queens Studio With Fireworks View to enjoy the Disneyland fireworks from your room which can be fun for families with kids.

Fun Family and Disney Touches in Rooms

In the bedrooms, you'll find fun decorative family-inspired touches like these Mickey-shaped towel arrangements on the beds and colorful artwork with fireworks.

The rooms at SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate are pet-friendly, with pets allowed for a fee of $125 plus tax and $25 per night. Housekeeping comes every other day.

SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate Queen Suite Bathroom

Here is a look at the bathroom in the Queen Suite. This bathroom has a single sink and a hair dryer, and the toilet is not separated from the rest of the bathroom, and the shower is off to the left with a curtain separating it from the rest of the space.

For a family of 6, this might be a bit of a tight squeeze getting ready in the morning given the layout and single sink even though the layout is more spacious than the bathroom in the King Suite.

SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate Queen Suite Room View

The views from the room vary based on what side of the hotel you are on, but you can see the backside of the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure and the backside of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. That is just beyond the parking lot in the above picture.

There is a great fireworks view from many rooms that look in that direction. There is also a parking lot where a number of different park items are stored including some of the decorative trash cans from the parks, which is the view shown in the photo above.

King Studio Suite Bathroom

The King Suite bathroom is all in one room with a glass shower and the toilet off to the left. This space is a little more compact than the Queen Suite bathroom.

SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate Breakfast

free breakfast SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate

One of the biggest perks of this hotel is the free hot breakfast that is served daily. The breakfast includes items like bacon, waffles, etc. The current hours for the breakfast according to the website are Monday-Friday 6:30 – 9:30 AM and Saturday-Sunday 7:00 – 10:00 AM.

Booking a Disneyland hotel with free breakfast is a good way to save on this area of your Disneyland trip. We always recommend eating breakfast as early as possible so that you can get to the parks in time for rope drop in the mornings.

SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate Pool

SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate pool area

SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate offers an outdoor pool area with a hot tub. The pool is a nice offering for those who are visiting in the summer months and looking for a place to cool down or take a break from the parks.

However, it does almost fall into the category of a “parking lot” hotel pool where the pool is right off the parking lot, so the ambiance is not quite the same as many of our favorite hotels near Disneyland with pools. That said, this is a step up from some properties that just have a pool in order to list it as an amenity. The pool and hot tub are open from 7am-10pm.

Fitness Center at SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate

Fitness center at Springhill Suites Anaheim Maingate

The fitness center at SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate includes a bench press, weights, treadmill, and elliptical. This is located on the first floor and is open 24/7.

While families may not be making as much use of this due to the workouts walking around the parks, it can be a good place for stretching after a long day of walking, and business travelers can take advantage of this space to get some exercise.

SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate Location

map of SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate Disneyland area

SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate is located behind the Mickey & Friends parking structure. To get to Disneyland, you'll walk down Walnut Street and take a turn onto Magic Way, then take the pedestrian bridge to cross to the Pixar Pals Parking structure. From there, you can take the tram, which will drop you off in Downtown Disney close to the esplanade connecting the two parks.

See the map above for the route, which takes about 13 minutes just to get to the tram area. This is a little bit of a different route than some of the hotels within walking distance of Disneyland that are a straight shot to the Harbour Boulevard entrance or Downtown Disney.

Hotel Shuttle Transporation to Disneyland

ART Shuttle Disneyland

You also have the option of taking the ART Shuttle Bus if you would rather utilize this transportation. There is a stop in front of the USPS Office under the green canopy, and both the 9 Bus (Katella Line) and the 11 Bus (Ball Road Line) will take you to Disneyland. Buses run about every 20-25 minutes.

While I personally enjoy walking to Disneyland from almost every hotel, the location of this hotel makes it a bit difficult. Factor in walking to the tram pickup and then the potential for lines for security, you might wish that you had taken the ART shuttle or rideshare. I would personally want to factor in the price of rideshare to and from the parks every day during my trip.

Other Amenities at SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate

mini pancakes at SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate

One of the fun offerings at the SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate is that there are some week days with fun-themed mornings or evening events including mini pancakes and charcuterie boards in a room off of the lobby. These are a new offering that they are trying out right now for guests to build up excitement about the property. There was no clear schedule for when these will be offered.

On the hotel property, you'll also find a business center, marketplace, and a patio and fire pit. There is also a laundry room on the first floor open 24/7. The machines are card-only. There is also an ATM machine in the laundry room.

Parking is $30 plus tax a night per vehicle, and when you book through Get Away Today you get discounted parking with a $5/night savings. Check-in time is 3pm, and checkout time is 12pm for the hotel.

The SpringHill Suites Anaheim Maingate is a nice option for a trip to consider for your next Disneyland vacation if you are already planning on taking rideshare or the ART shuttle to the theme parks. The rooms are newly renovated and felt very clean. This would be a good home base for a Disneyland trip.
