Renting a Scooter at Disney World – Best Companies, Tips, FAQ

Disney World scooter rentals are a great way to access the parks if you have mobility issues or someone in your family does. There's no reason limited mobility should prevent any guest from experiencing Disney World to its full extent. Considering how large the Walt Disney World resort is, a scooter may be a necessity to make the trip great!

Renting a scooter at Disney World is a great way to access the park and is a better option than using a wheelchair. The average guest walks up to nearly 6-8 miles during an entire day at Disney. Whether you use a mobility device in your daily life or only when you need to conquer long distances, renting a scooter at Disney is worth every penny.

Disney World Scooter Rentals vs. Third-Party Companies

Scooter Rental Wdw

There are two options for renting a scooter at Walt Disney World: you can either rent a scooter in the theme parks when you arrive or you can rent a scooter for the duration of your trip that you can take to and from your hotel and the theme parks.

Walt Disney World works with a third-party company to rent scooters for the duration of your trip (more below!) and this is often the most affordable option for renting a scooter during your Walt Disney World vacation.

The absolute best way to rent a scooter at Walt Disney World, especially if you know you'll need it more than one day, is a duration of stay rental. Renting a scooter one day at a time can be a hassle especially since you cannot then use that scooter to get to the transportation or the distances at your hotel. Plus, the scooters can run out if you are visiting on a busy day and there is no advance reservations for day of scooters. I highly recommend a scooter for the duration of your stay.

Renting a Scooter at Disney World

There are a variety of Walt Disney World scooter rentals to choose from but I listed the top three companies in the area with the highest ratings. Each company offers a pretty similar scooter brand and the variations are mainly price.

Scooterbug

Walt Disney World, via Scooterbug, offers day of rentals at the park entrances for $50 a day for a scooter rental. All rentals require a refundable deposit of $20. The cost of a rental per day is the same at Disney Springs and the water parks but requires a $100 refundable deposit at these locations.

Daily rentals can be transferred between all locations and you just pay once for the day. You can't remove the scooter from the location where you rented it, when leaving just return it to the rental counter and pick up a new one at the next park by showing your receipt. Keep in mind there's no guarantee there will be a scooter available at the new park you will be going to! This is why renting a scooter at Disney World is easier if you do it for the duration of your stay.

If you want to rent a scooter for the duration of your stay then ScooterBug will work with Disney Resort Cast Members to manage deliveries and returns of rented strollers, ECVs, and wheelchairs. Pre-orders and deliveries of mobility rentals through ScooterBug to Disney Resort hotels are available by visiting scooterbug.com/orlando or calling (800) 726-8284. A seven-day rental through ScooterBug is $191 for a three-wheel standard scooter.

Gold Mobility Scooters

Gold Mobility Scooters is one of the most well-known and highly-rated scooter rental companies at Walt Disney World. I have read multiple positive reviews from Walt Disney World guests who always use this company on their visits so they have a good rate of return customers.

One of the most popular rentals is their three-wheel motorized scooter for a flat rate of $229 for seven days which includes free delivery and pickup plus a damage waiver. According to their website, Gold Mobility Scooters replaces their fleet of scooters every 6-9 months to ensure all their equipment is in top shape. I think this is also telling to how popular this company is too that they have the need to swap out their fleet this often.

Their scooters can go a full 10 hours for a fully charged battery which is pretty standard with most scooter models. They offer free in-person on-time delivery and pickup to all the theme park hotels in the Orlando area. Gold Mobility scooters are water resistant but the website notes that you should still seek cover when it rains and cover up the equipment.

Walker Mobility

Walker Mobility has many reviews commending them for their top notch equipment along with their 10% military and DVC (Disney Vacation Club member) discount. Their website notes that all their equipment is equipped to handle rain, humidity, and heat which is a huge perk for renting a scooter at Disney World. You can expect it to rain during your visit so you don't want to be caught in equipment that can't handle the rain!

A seven day rental for a standard three wheel scooter costs $220 with an additional $15 per extra day if needed. There is no deposit required and the company won't charge your credit card until the day you arrive. You also have the option of purchasing a 35 pack of bottled water for $20 to be delivered with your scooter which is a nice touch if the only groceries you want to get for your stay are bottled water.

Disney World Lines with Separate Entrances for Scooter/Wheelchair Use

EPCOT Intinerary Spaceship Earth

Both Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios were built with accessibility in mind and all the line queues at these parks are accessible to those in wheelchairs or scooters. So in these parks, for the majority of attractions, you will wait in the queue with everyone else. At some point, you may be directed to another point but for the most part, you will use the standard queue. Magic Kingdom and EPCOT being the two older parks have a few attractions with less accessible queues that require guests to use the exit to enter.

EPCOT

  • Spaceship Earth– guests using mobility devices enter from the exit. There is a place to park mobility devices and a waiting area with benches, you will generally wait the same amount of time as the standby wait.
  • Gran Fiesta Tour– this attraction has a separate line for guests with mobility devices. You will enter that line (follow the signage or ask a cast member) and once you're in that line, the CM will call you for boarding.
  • Living With the Land- for this attraction guests with mobility devices use the Lightning Lane. If you already have a Lightning Lane, you will enter but if not, you may be given a return time to come back which is equal to the time of the standby line.

Magic Kingdom

  • Jungle Cruise- there is a separate waiting area next to the exit for guests with mobility devices. You will be given a return time (if you don't have a Genie+ time already) to come back to this area which is equal to that of the standby line.
  • it's a small world– similar to Jungle Cruise, you can receive a return time equal to the standby line or in some cases the cast members may have you enter the standby line until a certain point when they switch you to the Lighting Lane.
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad– guests with mobility devices will enter the exit and are typically given a return time equal to the standby line for this ride.
  • Space Mountain-  guests with mobility devices will get a return time equal to that of the standby line and when they return will use the Lighting Lane. If you already have a Lightning Lane reservation, you can enter with that.
