Oogie Boogie Bash continues to be a popular event year after year and is a huge draw of the Halloween celebration. Party nights have been expanded in recent years and now span from mid-August through the end of October. There is consistently very high demand for this event, and it sells out each year.
We think that there are plenty of reasons why you should attend this event. From rare villain character appearances to dressing up and collecting candy on the Treat Trails, there are a lot of things to love about these parties. If you’re committed to attending this year, make sure to check out our guide to 2026 Oogie Boogie Bash ticket sale details and prices.
However, they may not be right for everyone, and there are some very valid reasons why, which you may want to consider with ticket sales coming up soon. If you are finding yourself on the fence, here are the eight reasons why some may not want to go to Oogie Boogie Bash. Mickey Visit brings you the latest Disney news and planning resources, including Disney announcing dozens of patriotic new foods, and Disneyland finally getting one of Disney World’s most popular snacks.

With the purchase of an Oogie Boogie Bash ticket, you can enter the parks for mix-in hours starting at 3 PM. However, the few hours between 3 and 6 PM are when peak crowds and heat happen, and it’s not the best time for touring the parks, especially without Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservations. You’ll really feel the crowds in particular if you’re attending a party night in October, which is one of the busiest times of year at Disneyland.
Crowds will feel less intense during the actual party itself, but some are caught off guard when they enter the parks during the busy mix-in hours and can’t find enough things to do to make the most of these few hours. While you can still enjoy the parks in a more low-key fashion, you definitely won’t get the same quality of park touring that you would get rope dropping Disney California Adventure.
We typically suggest using this mix-in time to eat dinner, as you’ll want to spend the time at the party enjoying the event-exclusive offerings. If you have any leftover time, you can look at rides opportunistically and consider hopping on some attractions with Single Rider, but keep in mind that this is not an available option for families with kids under 7. You may also consider spending some of this mix-in time lining up early for popular character experiences.
Parties Go Late Into the Evening
While Oogie Boogie Bash parties don’t run as late as the Disneyland After Dark parties do, they still run fairly late for families with young kids. The parties start at 6 pm and wrap up at 11 pm, not including the three hours of mix-in time. Especially if you are planning to rope drop the parks with regular admission, you may find your family running out of steam by the time the event begins. This is just something to consider if you are visiting with younger kids, as if they’re exhausted and burned out, they won’t be able to fully enjoy the party’s evening offerings.
Since the only event nights are Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, none of the event nights back up to a weekend. This may not be a problem if you’re already on a multi-day vacation, but if you’re going just for the event itself, it’s worth noting because you will need to get up for work, school, or travel the following day. If you’re not a fan of late nights, this may be enough of a reason to skip this event.
There Are More Than Enough Halloween Offerings Included With Regular Admission
Arguably, the biggest reason you can get away with skipping Oogie Boogie Bash (and the reason I often do) is that Disneyland has so many special offerings during Halloween included with regular admission. Halloween at Disneyland is packed with things to do and see, including spooky decor, themed treats, ride overlays, and more special offerings (including the amazing Halloween Screams fireworks show, which is my personal favorite).
Honestly, there are so many great offerings during this season that visiting with regular admission during Halloween already feels like you’re attending a special event at the parks. The biggest unique offerings of Oogie Boogie Bash are the opportunity to meet rare characters and wear a costume to the parks. If that’s a priority for you, then getting a party ticket is definitely the way to go, though keep in mind that the seasonal Halloween costumes that Mickey and friends wear are pretty fun and make for great photos.
Party Tickets Are Expensive
There is no denying that Oogie Boogie Bash tickets are expensive enough to deter some guests from attending the parties. Given that there are so many great Halloween offerings available with regular admission, some guests may understandably find it difficult to justify the expense of this special event.
In 2026, party prices range from $139 to $199 per person depending on the night selected. This includes admission from 3 pm to 11 pm only.
Pricing increases the closer dates get to Halloween, as October is a very popular month to visit Disneyland. You can see our Disneyland crowd calendar for predicted crowd levels each day of the year and our list of the least crowded dates to visit for Halloween in 2026.
You do still get 8 hours of park time, and the higher price reflects the value of the event-exclusive offerings you can only find at these parties. However, some may find that it’s not worth the extra cost compared to what’s included with regular admission.
The Parties May Be Less Appealing to Adults
Compared to the Disneyland After Dark parties, which feel very intentionally designed for an adult audience, Oogie Boogie Bash is very clearly designed for kids. This is not a bad thing at all and is a positive for families visiting, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re visiting with an adults-only group.
One of the big highlights of the event is the Treat Trails, where you collect huge quantities of candy in a trick-or-treating style, which may not be as appealing to adults as it is to kids. While the Oogie Boogie Bash rare villains featured at each Treat Trail stop are fun (including favorites like Oogie Boogie, Ernesto de la Cruz, Sid, etc.), you can still fly through these with a lot of time during the event left to spare. If the idea of the Treat Trails isn’t a major draw for you, you may want to consider skipping the event.
Disneyland After Dark events have a similar emphasis on rare characters, but they tend to lean more heavily into entertainment, special foods, and photo ops. The general atmosphere is also more party-like during those events, with dance parties, a wide variety of themed foods, and other entertainment offerings more clearly geared towards an adult audience.
Less Entertainment Than Other Special Events

As we previously mentioned, the highlight of these parties is the villain Treat Trails. If you’re not interested in these, there’s not an overwhelming amount of other entertainment to enjoy at the parties. The lack of event-exclusive offerings may be a deterrent to some who would prefer a more organized entertainment lineup.
On top of this, the Oogie Boogie Bash parties won’t have their signature parade this year due to construction impacts in Disney California Adventure. The Frightfully Fun Parade will be replaced by a Haunted Mansion-themed cavalcade called “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake – A Haunted Mansion Street Party.”
We’re unsure of the scale of this new offering, but given that it’s a cavalcade, you can expect it to be a much quicker experience compared to a full parade. Some are excited by the idea of an entertainment switch-up this year, even if it’s temporary downscaling, but others may be disappointed by the absence of a full parade at the event.
The cavalcade will be the main entertainment offering of the event this year, and outside of this, the only other major event-exclusive offering is Villains Grove. This overlay of Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is a scenescape inspired by favorite Disney villains, featuring projections and sound effects.
While the attraction is advertised as a highlight of the party, some guests aren’t super impressed by it. Some, especially younger kids, expect to see real characters in the experience and are disappointed when they discover it’s a scenescape. This is something important to keep in mind, as the attraction can sometimes have a long wait and the walkthrough can feel rushed when demand is high.
Oogie Boogie Bash Is Not the Biggest Foodie Event
Disneyland will go all out with exclusive themed food offerings during Disneyland After Dark parties like Sweethearts’ Nite and Star Wars Nite, but Oogie Boogie Bash does not really have anything particularly special to offer in this area.
This makes sense, as there are dozens of fun Halloween foods available across the entire resort during this time of year, so there isn’t much reason to add a ton of event-exclusive offerings. Another reason for this is likely because, as we mentioned before, Oogie Boogie Bash is more targeted at kids than adults, so there is less of an emphasis on catering to the adult foodie crowd.
There are only a handful of foods that are available only during the party each year. This may not be the biggest deal-breaker in the world, given that there are generally lots of Halloween foods, but this is just something to keep in mind, as you’re getting basically the same foodie experience as you do with general admission.
Lines Are Still Long for Some Characters
The rare characters are a big highlight for the Oogie Boogie Bash parties, but the most popular ones have very long lines. If you have your heart set on meeting rare characters in extremely high demand, like Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle dressed up as the Sanderson Sisters, you can end up waiting hours, which will take up a significant chunk of party time. Even if you approach this meet-and-greet with a bit of strategy and get in line during the first parade when crowds are thinned out, you should still be prepared to wait around 30 minutes.
For some, the long lines to meet rare characters are a major downside of the party, as these lines move more slowly than the Treat Trails and can easily take up a significant chunk of your night. While the Treat Trails do move along at a reasonable pace, they sometimes feel a bit rushed due to this.
As we previously mentioned, the event-exclusive Villains Grove attraction can have a pretty long line, and you may find that the wait for this experience ends up being a significant time commitment.
You can minimize your waiting by going during the first parade, but keep in mind that it becomes a bit of an either/or between this and the Sanderson Sisters line. If you decide to prioritize Villain’s Grove during this time, it would be a good idea to line up for the Sanderson Sisters during the mix-in hours (up to 90 minutes before the party kicks off).
Generally, the need to strategize to fit in all of these experiences with a minimal wait can be enough of a deterrent for some to choose to skip the event.
