Popular Disneyland Restaurant Dropping Reservations Option, Becoming Walk-Up Only

It is common practice for all table service restaurants at Disneyland to offer reservations up to 60 days in advance of your trip, while also offering a walk-up option.

But one popular restaurant is now switching to walk-up only, which is a major change from the way the restaurant has operated in the theme park. Keep reading for the details on this surprising change that has already gone into effect!

Oga's Cantina Becoming Walk-Up Only

Oga's Cantina at Disneyland

Starting today, Oga's Cantina at Disneyland now only offers walk-up availability and is no longer taking new reservations. Guests can access this Star Wars-themed bar by joining the walk-up list.

Why Did Disneyland Get Rid of Oga's Cantina Reservations?

Rex Ogas Cantina

Disneyland's demographic of guests is a bit different than other Disney Parks like Walt Disney World. Disneyland has a large population of local visitors who enjoy the freedom to make spontaneous choices, which is often why you'll see some experiences offer same-day reservations to make this possible.

Switching Oga's Cantina to stand-by only converts this entire space into a more flexible model, which is likely preferred by many guests at Disneyland.

Not only that, but demand has been reasonably low enough for Oga's Cantina to justify switching the experience to walk-up only. I've rarely had an issue getting a last-minute reservation for Oga's Cantina, so I do think that is a big contributing factor for this change.

Oga's Cantina Is a Great Midday Break Spot

Oga's Cantna

Oga's Cantina is one of my favorite midday break spots at Disneyland. I often find myself in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge after following our Disneyland morning strategy, so the flexibility to walk up and get a table is a great improvement.

If you've seen Star Wars: A New Hope, this bar is inspired by the atmosphere of the Mos Eisley Cantina, where Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi meet Han Solo and Chewbacca. Oga's Cantina is in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and follows the same storyline of existing on the planet Batuu as the rest of the land.

Oga's Cantina is the only place in Disneyland that serves alcohol in a bar or lounge setting rather than a typical sit down restaurant. While Oga's Cantina still uses a server and a hostess, the atmosphere is far more casual. The menu is more limited by offering bar snacks rather than full meals. This change will not mean you can now bring alcohol outside of Oga's Cantina. Disneyland is far more strict about where you can consume alcohol which is still limited to inside specific restaurants. Unlike Disney California Adventure which is far more relaxed about its alcohol policy.

To switch Oga's Cantina to walk-up only matches the general atmosphere of the restaurant, and I think this is a great fit.
