1. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle

Sleeping Beauty’s iconic Castle is by far the most popular on our list of places to propose at Disneyland. The stunning Castle backdrop embodies all the magic of Disney. Because this is a hot spot popular with Disney Guests, you can always find a Cast Member in front of the Castle that will gladly capture the loving moment your love says, “I do.” Let the Cast Member know ahead of time before you pop the question so that this very special moment can be captured forever.

Do you want to capture this moment with no crowds? It is tricky, but possible! Get to the parks as early as possible! Grab a Cast Member along the way (there is always one by the Partners statue or in front of the Castle) to capture the moment.

My family and I were able to obtain a family picture in front of the Castle with absolutely nobody in the background. Even if you do not have Magic Morning privileges, get inside the Park early and wait for the rope to drop. It is a good idea to plan your proposal early in the morning so that if you are including a Cast Member to assist you, they will have more time to help make the moment more magical.

2. Snow White’s Grotto

Just as Snow White got her Happily Ever After, so can you! Snow White’s Grotto is located to the right of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle and is a quaint, tranquil location where popping the question can make both you and your significant other’s wish come true.

This area has many different angles that capture the beauty of the Castle, whether it is at the very beginning of the pathway toward the Wishing Well, the bridge, or the Wishing Well itself. If the Wishing Well is your chosen location, give your significant other a penny to throw into the Wishing Well. Once the wish is made, get down on one knee and pop the question when he/she turns around!

Another great idea is to ask a Cast Member when a certain character will make an appearance near the Wishing Well or check the Disney App so that you can plan a proposal with the presence of his/her favorite character.

3. Floral Mickey Mouse Portrait at Front Entrance

Why wait around all day to propose? Start your Disney day off the right way by dropping to one knee in front of the floral Mickey Mouse portrait right inside the front gate. This spot is popular with all Disney fans because the Mickey head is always kept beautiful with annual flowers year-round! The reason I absolutely love to snap photos at this location is because not only does it scream Disney with Mickey’s floral head, but I love to capture a wide shot with the train in the background.

If you are wondering just how to propose here, take advantage of Magic Mornings to arrive before the crowd really gets thick around noontime. If you do not have the option of Magic Mornings, arrive at the gates super early. Most of the time, Guests are more interested in running to their favorite rides to stop and snap pictures. Another reason why this location is a great place to propose is that there is always a Cast Member lingering around to capture your special moment.

4. Disney PhotoPass Attraction

If you are the nontraditional kind, why not pop the question on an attraction captured by a photo? This may take some preparation to pull it off, but it can (and has been) done!

First and foremost, you must know all the attractions with Disney Photopass attraction photos. At Disneyland, Splash Mountain (camera is at the top of the last big drop), Space Mountain (camera is positioned toward end of ride after the continuous loops when the coaster takes a sharp left), or Buzz Lightyear (camera is hidden at end of ride near Zurg). At Disney California Adventure, Radiator Springs Racers (camera stationed on rock overpass on outside track near the finish line), Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Outbreak! (camera is at the top of the ride when the doors open to reveal a picturesque view of the Park), and Incredicoaster (photos are taken at the end of the ride when the coaster makes a sharp left).

It may take you a couple of tries to perfect your proposal to time it right. Whether it is done by holding up a sign or writing it on your shirt for a big reveal, if done right, you are sure to surprise your loved one!

5. Mark Twain’s Riverboat

Take a 14-minute sail along the Rivers of America at sunset where the sun skips across the water making for a beautiful setting to your proposal. Head to the bow of the boat on either of the first three levels (Promenade Deck, Texas – Sun – Deck, or the Main Deck) and surprise your loved one when dropping to one knee, ring in hand.

There are no PhotoPass Cast Members on board, so if you want to capture the moment, ask a friend, family member, or another Disney Guest to snap at the right moment.

6. Disneyland Hotel’s Gazeb0

If your looking for a more intimate, private setting to propose, look no further than the gazebo found tucked between the Frontier and Adventure Towers at the Disneyland Hotel. The gazebo is the perfect platform to drop to one knee and ask for your partner’s hand in marriage because not only is the gazebo beautiful, surrounded by a carpet of lush green grass, towering trees, all enclosed by foliage, but this area is always empty, unless, of course, there is a wedding.

7. Paradise Gardens ParkDisney Parks After Dark: Pixar Pal-A-Round at Disney California ...

Just as Sleeping Beauty’s Castle is a hot proposal spot, so is Paradise Gardens Park in Disney California Adventure Park. The well-recognized Pixar Pal-A-Round Ferris Wheel towers over Pixar Pier, with that special smiling Mickey right in the middle. With your proposal as the focal point and Pixar Pal-A-Round in the background, what better way to ask for your partner’s hand in marriage?

Whether you propose during the day or at night, the special moment will be enhanced by the Disney backdrop. A night proposal is also an option with the colorful Wheel lit up in a rainbow of colors.

8. Carthay Circle Fountain

In Disney California Adventure Park, the beautiful Carthay Circle fountain is the starting point to every land in the Park, so why not begin your life together here? Springtime and summer have got to be the most beautiful times of year around the fountain because all of the trees are in full bloom.

Pick an area around the fountain under the budding pink blossoms while the babbling sounds of the fountain play in the background while you ask for your partner’s hand in marriage.

9. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa Lobby Fireplace

Drop to one knee in front of the extravagant lobby fireplace in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. This private cove off to the right of the Guest Services Desk offers a rustic setting reminiscent of National Parks ambiance.

Cozy seating is provided to cuddle up when newly engaged. If you are looking for a more secluded spot, try the outside fireplace around the corner from this grand fireplace.

10. Blue Bayou Restaurant

Propose under the everlasting nighttime sky deep within the New Orleans bayou with your lover, by you! The mood is already set for you as you dine over flickering candlelight within the Blue Bayou Restaurant.

Surprise him/her while dining on an authentic New Orleans-inspired lunch or dinner. Cast Members are always happy to assist you if you need their help whether it be capturing the moment with a photo or anything magical you have planned.

And They Lived Happily Ever After!Mickey and Minnie blowing kisses in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle

Now that you are newly engaged, now what? Why not show off that your partner said “yes!” Here are some fun tips to help you celebrate your “I dos” at the Happiest Place on Earth.

  • Get complimentary, matching engagement buttons to wear. Buttons can be found inside City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland or at Guest Services in Disney California Adventure Park.
  • Wear matching Mickey hats, embroidered with something fun (“she said yes,” or “I said yes”). Stop by The Mad Hatter on Main Street or in Fantasyland.
  • Celebrate your Happily Ever After by reserving a romantic dinner at either Carthay Circle Restaurant, Napa Rose, Steakhouse 55, or Blue Bayou. All restaurants reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance online, on the Disneyland app, or by calling 714.781.3463.
  • If staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel, call in the experts by having a customized celebratory surprise waiting for you and your loved one back at your room.
