Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most iconic attractions at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Among the ranking of attractions we tell guests not to skip, this one always makes the list! Walt Disney World is well aware of the popularity of Pirates of the Caribbean and is in the process of building a new lounge inspired by the attraction in Magic Kingdom.
The Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge was first announced at Destination D23, a smaller version of the D23 fan convention event, as a new offering for all ages coming to Magic Kingdom.
Keep reading for everything we know about this new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge including construction details, new concept art and opening period details, and more.

Sneak Peak of Pirates Lounge
Disney shared another new look inside the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge coming to Walt Disney World during the D23 Brazil presentation. The atmosphere of the lounge looks like a great place to gather and escape the sun and heat at Magic Kingdom.
NEW Concept Art and Opening Details for Pirates Lounge
At D23's Disney Experiences Showcase, Disney shared new concept art for the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge, which you can see above. This space is where “bandits and buccaneers-to-be from every corner of the seven seas” will come together.
Disney shared that the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge, alongside a new lounge inspired by Spaceship Earth, will open in 2025.
New Disney World Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge
The new Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge will be located in Adventureland inside Magic Kingdom right near the actual attraction. Imagineers are in the design process and so far all we have to go off so far is the concept art released above.
The concept art shows a glimpse of the lounge which gives off the vibe of a rowdy pirate tavern which fits the attraction perfectly. We can see a variety of pirates and critters scattered around which gives us a hint at what kind of characters may be present.
It was confirmed during Destination D23 by Imagineer Chris Beatty that the lounge would bring back the return of the popular Barker Bird animatronic which is also referred to as “Peg-Leg Pete.” The Barker Bird was an animatronic bird that originally was featured outside the attraction before it was removed during the changes to the attraction to incorporate elements from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. The bird would shout lines and lyrics at guests as they entered the ride, many guests were disappointed to see the animatronic bird removed so it's return is well celebrated. You can see the visual of the Barker Bird in the concept art as it pulls back the curtain to show the Pirate lounge.
The addition of an animatronic character, much like The Tropical Hideaway in Disneyland with the bird Rosita, will help bring this space to life!

Pirates of the Caribbean Bar Could Bring New Entertainment
This new Pirates of the Caribbean bar could also bring with it new entertainment opportunities. A perfect fit for this lounge would be to incorporate the Pirates of the Caribbean band we've seen perform as part of Mickey's Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party.
This was a new offering for last year's Halloween party which featured the Rusty Cutlass pirate band playing in Adventureland along with wandering pirates around the area. The band plays popular songs with a pirate twist along with their own mix up of sea shanties.
The cast members that work in the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge could also be dressed as pirates and themed as characters which would be a fun way to make the experience lean into character dining while retaining the vision of a casual lounge space.
Where Will the Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge Go?
In a recent development at Magic Kingdom, the Tortuga Restaurant has been renamed Tortuga Treasures and is now acting as a gift shop. Construction is currently taking place in the main Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop which is located in the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar.
While not confirmed yet, I speculate the location for the new lounge will take over part of the gift shop area while also expanding into the prior Pirates League makeover experience space.
The Pirates League was a space similar to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique but instead of Disney Princesses, it offered Pirate packages for kids to receive pirate makeovers. The Pirates League makeover experience came to an end in 2020 and the space it used to occupy, next to the Pirates gift shop, has remained empty.
Once construction is complete, we will likely see the merchandise offerings at the temporary Tortuga Treasures return to the standard gift shop but we will have to wait and see what happens with the growth in this area.
Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge Opening Date
Disney has confirmed that this new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge will open in late summer 2025 although no official openingd date has been shared yet.

Intrigued by the POC lounge however, what we don’t need in MK is a ‘rowdy’ bar.
